This Session examines the current model deployed by ICANN and other bodies involved in the Internet eco-system, and how this reflects the diverse interests of the Internet Community and users. It directly addresses how such a model has evolved since WSIS and to what extent it has allowed or even promoted growth and innovation and citizen’s interests. It considers how the model may evolve and improve to better serve the needs of public policy and community interests. Specifically it may address the role of governments, and whether their responsibilities are adequately taken account of in the multi-stakeholder model.

Disclaimer: The photo albums in this Flickr account are not intended to be collections of my best hand-picked images. Such images are included but the vast majority of images, 6250 and counting, commingled amongst the few gallery-worthy images, are snapshots, bad shots and missed shots (the bad shots containing some element of the composition that strikes my fancy despite its flaws thus saving it from the Recycle Bin and the missed shots being those photos where the exposure and/or DoF were not completely appropriate). There is trip documentation and there are pure experiments (including multiple treatments of the same scene such as different angles, different post processing, different times of day, sunrise/sunset progressions, zoom progressions, etc.). This account is basically a secondary backup location with convenient captioning, titling & EXIF capabilities.

Founded in Malaysia, Alfa One Corporation Accounting Solutions, now offers their services in Tokyo japan, provides complete accounting and financial solutions. And as a part of its yearly review on issues regarding tax scams, it provides the top scams of 2015 which includes basic ways on how to avoid them.

This year, incidents of scams have been reported on the news almost every day. So Alfa One Corporation Accounting Solutions provided some tips on how to steer clear of the top scams of 2015 since scammers use different ways every year to try to steal taxpayers’ hard-earned money.

Do you ever experience receiving an unexpected call from someone claiming to be from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS)? And after some short introduction, he or she will tell you that you owe them money and you need to pay via a pre-paid debit card or wire transfer?

Given above is a good example of the first type of scam to become aware of. Alfa One Corporation Accounting Solutions called it the “impersonator scam”. The scammer may provide you a fake IRS badge number, or change the caller ID to make it look like he’s really calling from the agency.

In addition, the scam artist might even threaten you with arrest, deportation or suspension of a business or driver’s license if you don’t submit to his terms. He may also say that you’re owed a tax refund. This is an attempt to obtain your private information.

In order to avoid this scam, please keep in mind that the IRS will never request personal or financial information through phone, and won’t ask for payment using a pre-paid debit card or wire transfer.

The second type of scam involves the “phisherman”. Phishing is a fraudulent attempt made through email to steal your personal information. Phishing emails usually appear to come from a well-known organization just like the IRS. The fake emails require you to update your e-file as soon as possible, and include a link to a website aimed at copying the official IRS website.

To avoid this scam, Alfa One Corporation Accounting Solutions suggests that once you receive this kind of emails, you mustn’t reply and don’t open any attachments because they may contain malicious code that may infect your computer or mobile phone. You mustn’t also click on any links on those emails. Forward the email as-is at phishing@irs.gov then delete the original email.

The third type of scam is identity theft. According to Alfa One Corporation Accounting Solutions reviews, identity thieves use your Social Security number to file a tax return and steal your money. They may use various methods in obtaining your sensitive information such as dumpster diving, mail interception, malware, phishing, purse snatching, and shoulder surfing.

Never give your Social Security number out unless it’s absolutely necessary. Also monitor your credit report, and secure your electronic and physical files to prevent this type of scam from happening.

The fourth type of scam to watch out for is the fake charities. Scammers often target taxpayers who are interested in donating to tax-deductible charities after a tragic incident due to natural calamities, etc. You might receive a call for financial information or funds, or an email directing you to a phony website that solicits money to help the victims. Scam artists might even use a name that sounds just like a legitimate charity or claim an affiliation with one. Alfa One Corporation Accounting Solutions suggests that you use the Exempt Organizations Select Check tool at irs.gov to find qualified charities to donate to in order to avoid charity scams. Don’t give your personal information to solicitors and don’t send cash to anyone.

The fifth type of tax scam that you should be careful of is the fraudulent tax preparer. Some scammers pose as tax preparers and promise large refunds. They often target those who don’t have to file and those who don’t speak English, tricking them into claiming phony benefits, rebates or tax credits. They might even file a false tax return in the victims’ names.

Scammers also target those with a filing requirement by promising inflated refunds due to bogus credits and Social Security benefits. They will not give you a copy of your tax return, and might also deposit your money into their bank accounts and deduct a sizable fee before giving you the rest. Alfa One Corporation Accounting Solutions recommends that you should be very careful when hiring a tax preparer, choose someone who asks for proof of income and eligibility for credits and deductions, enters his IRS Preparer Tax Identification Number, provides a copy of your return, and signs your return as the preparer.

Keep in mind the safety tips provided by Alfa One Corporation Accounting Solutions to avoid the top scams of 2015.

I make it 87 days since my account passed 2 million, and 366 days to get the second million, and six years nine months to get the first million.

This is probably the last milestone I will get to view as what is left of my 'pro' membership will lapse in the spring, which I am not going to renew, as the views seem to bear little resenblance to views that the shots themselves generate, rather than the descriptions, which then capture, mostly, freaks looking for some wedding day porn (in the case of my shots of St Bride's in Fleet Street; most shots have now between 10k-12k views each, based on links to words ior phrases in the description)

But I digress. Many of you look because you want to, which I appreciate more than you can know.

Enclosed hare coursing was pioneered at Plumpton, East Sussex, in 1876. This was followed by similar developments at Gosforth Park near Newcastle-upon-Tyne and, from 1882, at Haydock Park on the site of the present racecourse. An account of proceedings is given by Rawdon Briggs Lee in A History And Description Of The Modern Dogs Of Great Britain And Ireland. (Sporting Division)" (1897):

“Puss was sent through an opening, near to which the slipper stood; he let her get away, then slipped his dogs. The hare had, perhaps, a distance of 800 yards to go before she reached a refuge, into which her pursuers could not enter. Usually she escaped; before doing so she might be turned a few times, but a very fast hare could reach the covert without being turned or wrenched by either dog.”

From the outset opinion on enclosed coursing was divided, both among followers of the sport and among members of the general public. A letter of 1883 in The Sportsman sought to defend the practice:

“The only material difference between inclosed and open coursing is that under the former system the hares are restricted to 500 or 600 acres of ground, as the case may be, instead of having an unlimited boundary. They are in just as natural state of existence as on any mountain side; they have a greater variety of food provided, and quite as much exercise and liberty as they require... For each course the hare is driven from an artificial covert, just as she might be from an open plantation, for a course in the open. Inclosed coursing, instead of being more cruel than open coursing, is less cruel, for the following reasons:- 1. A much smaller percentage of the hares coursed are killed. 2. The courses cannot at most exceed half-a-mile, so that the hares which escape are not unduly distressed; this applies equally to the greyhounds. 3. The hares in cold wet weather are well fed and cared for, whereas in the open, in severe weather, hundreds starve and die for want of proper food... It is now admitted that coursing at Haydock Park is as nearly perfect as possible, so far as being a legitimate and sterling test of every desirable attribute of the greyhound...”.

A description of the Haydock Park enclosures appeared in The Sydney Mail of 20 January 1883:

“The most recently established inclosed coursing ground in England is the Haydock Park, and the success which attended its inauguration must have been extremely gratifying to the promoters... It is about 500 acres in extent... There are two enclosures for coursing purposes in the domain -a double Plumpton in fact, one being 750 yards long by 300 yards wide; and the other 860 yards long by 400 yards wide. The enclosures do not join each other, but are in different parts of the estate... Haydock Park, with its grand stands and complete and suitable appointments, promises to outrival Gosforth Park and the other enclosed coursing grounds of England...”

The 1894 OS map has the coursing stands on the south side of the Park, almost directly opposite where those of the modern racecourse are sited. A kennel block is shown slightly to the west of these.

Haydock seems to have been unique among the coursing grounds in the respect that hares were deliberately bred for sport. I have occasionally encountered what are, presumably, descendants of “the ones that got away” when walking the field path between Ashton Heath and Golborne. Claims that they can also be seen quaffing champagne and nibbling canapés in the Premier Enclosure on racedays are possibly exaggerated...

Laura Hunt, Account Executive at Madison+Main is all smiles at the Uptown Alley groundbreaking ceremony on 6/14/11. She is excited and ready to bowl + more at Uptown Alley - a family friendly entertainment complex scheduled to open in June 2012 in Midlothian, VA.
