Back in Philly, I did yoga 5-6 days a week. The classes were intense and long, and my arms, belly, and back were ripped, and my body was flexible and balanced.
I moved to New York and due to time (the job was a time-suck), cost (studios are quite expensive), and lifestyle (hi! out to dinner every night), I scaled back to yoga once a week. The classes were still intense, but . . . fewer and farther between.
Then I quit my job. And to save money I stopped yoga altogether. But I was so depressed for so long, I couldn't put any weight on at all. In fact, I got to what was probably my lowest weight of my adult life. It was a little alarming. But it established some bad habits--(when I ate) I ate whatever I wanted, in however large a quantity, because it didn't matter what I did, I wasn't gaining. Also I definitely got weaker, and my neck has been fucked up for almost two years now.
Well, I'm happy now. The job is in the past. The new apartment feels like a home. There's a sweet boy in my life, whose mission seems to be to keep me happy. I'm back up to where I was before the depression, and I'm watching it creep up, very slowly. I'm still eating like I always did--and while I can do some portion control, I don't really want to change much about how I eat.
It's time I started doing something active. More active than my normal walking around New York, walking around Singapore. I've been taking the stairs in my apartment (rather than the elevator), but I need to do more. I have room for yoga at home in the new place. There are cheaper studios. There is even free yoga at several studios in New York.
While in Singapore, I'm going to try to swim some laps a few times a week. Today I managed 30 minutes before I was exhausted. I am woefully out of shape, and I'm starting to feel it.
Tomorrow we leave for Hanoi, which means we'll be walking a LOT more, so I'm not going to be so hard on myself. But I think Accountability Wednesdays will be good for me. I *have* to show that I did something in the week prior.
So this is more about maintenance than loss. Wish me luck!

The global economic crisis has turned a harsh spotlight on the role, accountability and transparency of banks and their leadership. In the outside world, public confidence and support is at an all-time low with far-reaching questions about the social utility of banks. On the inside, banks face complex challenges as they adapt to new regulatory environments and seek new ways to function as a profitable motor for the economy.
In this radically different operating landscape, the drive to rethink conventional business models is gathering momentum. This is further accelerated by big data, integrated analytics and new technologies that are transforming how banks and financial services go to market. Innovative renewal is needed if banks are to retain their central place in the payment system.
This session will bring stakeholders from different sectors together to identify options and best practices for a sustainable financial architecture that meets the needs of the economy, shareholders, entrepreneurs and the public.

I'm so happy that I lost one pound this week so that I could use my special diet bread as props. These loaves of bread have no calories. Zippo. Nada. Of course, you can't eat them because they are fake. These are fake-food props that my Realtor brought over to use in staging the house. I'm rather annoyed with them and with the fake flowers she placed in our entry. The Realtor wanted us to put everything away and then she brings in fake crap. How are fake loaves of bread better than a real working (and shiny) toaster?
I suspect this will be my last "losing" week for awhile and I'm a bit sad that I didn't make it to 10 pounds lost. We're leaving for Buenos Aires on Friday and I predict there will be a lot of eating. :) But there will be a lot of walking, too so may be won't be that much of a set-back.
