Wildfires: Additional Actions Needed to Address FEMA Assistance Challenges
Notes: The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)'s Public Assistance grant program assists communities through emergency assistance to save lives and protect property and/or assistance to permanently restore community infrastructure. FEMA obligated about $3.2 billion through the Public Assistance program for wildfire major disaster declarations approved in fiscal years 2019 through 2023, as of September 2023. A state, territorial, or tribal government can request that the President declare a major disaster when a wildfire is of such severity and magnitude that effective response is beyond the state, local, territorial, and/or tribal capabilities and federal assistance is necessary.

I was afraid to step on the scale for AW this week, but I was pleasantly surprised. I'm actually now at –9 pounds total (again), but I need to get back on track and refocused. I'm working out regularly--weights and cardio--and now I need to return to a lower-calorie diet. Maybe after the pudding is gone.

The global economic crisis has turned a harsh spotlight on the role, accountability and transparency of banks and their leadership. In the outside world, public confidence and support is at an all-time low with far-reaching questions about the social utility of banks. On the inside, banks face complex challenges as they adapt to new regulatory environments and seek new ways to function as a profitable motor for the economy.
In this radically different operating landscape, the drive to rethink conventional business models is gathering momentum. This is further accelerated by big data, integrated analytics and new technologies that are transforming how banks and financial services go to market. Innovative renewal is needed if banks are to retain their central place in the payment system.
This session will bring stakeholders from different sectors together to identify options and best practices for a sustainable financial architecture that meets the needs of the economy, shareholders, entrepreneurs and the public.

The 6th Annual Devolution Conference held under the theme “Deliver. Transform. Measure.: Remaining Accountable” organized by the Council of Governors in collaboration with other stakeholders’ including National Government Ministries, Agencies and Departments, Development Partners, Non-Governmental organizations and the Private Sector.
Prior to the 5th ADC, Devolution Conferences were held to discuss general/global successes, challenges and solutions in the implementation of the devolved structure in the Country. The Steering committee of the 5th ADC decided to change the conference modality and use a sector-based approach while at the same time retain the general/global perspective structure. These resulted to adoption of a four (4) sector breakaway sessions mirroring the Presidents Big Four (4) agenda together with a general cross cutting discussion in the conference.

Doing the end of year accounts is always a bit like reliving the year at speed, and it was particularly wierd this year as it was a crazy one, and also my last one. Good to get my head around things...and realise that is has not even been a year since the business went down. (It feels like 10) I feel like I have been carrying this huge weight around with me, and now I have put it down I'm exhausted.
