Railway Station

A key transport hub on the Chiltern Main Line between London and Birmingham.

It was opened in 1854 by the Wycombe Railway, initially featuring a single platform and simple facilities.

The station was upgraded in 1906 by the Great Western Railway, adding more platforms and improved buildings.

Modernisation in recent decades has included platform extensions, improved accessibility, and updated waiting areas.

Today, the station blends its historic origins with modern facilities and serves as an important gateway between High Wycombe and London.

My image was taken from The Brunel Engine Shed, looking north west over the western end of the station buildings, and onwards to Amersham Hill.

Access Platform at Forth Bridge

Inner walls of a classroom before the trunking is fitted for the electrical wiring

This schematic sketch is truly and completely 'freehand' in ink. Note there is not a straight line in evidence; this means no scale rule was used, as is the case in the vast majority of 'hand' drawn sketches (see other drawings for straight lines). Note No Border or Title Block drawn.

The paper used was simple lined margin paper from a pad.

I would guess that this was drawn in a hotel the night before the meeting to present it to the site team.

This is obviously a finer detail of the key assembly to be fitted to the raking pile, see other drawings for more detail

Ink Drawing carried out with Edding Fibretip Pen, probably 0.3mm tip. This drawing sheet was 'homemade' from a sheet of 5mm Squared Paper onto which were drawn a Border and a Title Block. The bright red logo is actually a sticky label that was just the correct size for the block.

This Plan sketch shows the proposed layout of the edge protection positions in relation to the length of each elevation and to the Grid Lines.

There in the gardens at Sudeley Castle was a brilliant Teupen Hi-Lift access platform, I literally came across it, as it was brought into position to inspect the masonry to the upper reaches of parts of the castle. The following series of pictures capture a few positions of the machine as it was being used. I was unable to get the driver to give me a lift to take some really compelling photographs at a high level!

Setting Up.

The scissor lift isn't rented from next door, but elsewhere.

Maybe their neighbours aren't ready...

"New UK tool and small equipment rental company Rapid Hire Group plans to start offering powered access from a new location in Liverpool."

"Rapid Hire kicked off with small tools, ladders, alloy towers and a couple of low level push around lifts, but has big plans to expand through 2023, with the addition of slab electric scissor lifts before moving on to booms and larger scissors."
