Madhava Syamlal, Clint Bedick - Advanced power generation concepts that utilize oxy-combustion have the potential to increase the efficiency and offset the penalty associated with capturing CO2 from power generation from fossil fuels. Although these innovative energy concepts have significant potential advantages, practical development is stymied by uncertain component performance, the need for new materials, or the cost of development. In this lab, researchers sample product gases from a flat-flame burner, operated with premixed oxy-fuel with steam and CO2 dilution. The properties measured for the oxy-fuel flame provide valuable data that helps to validate fundamental simulations of advanced energy concepts. Analyzing the real-time, dynamic behavior of flames and using that data to validate and improve simulation capabilities, allows researchers to optimize fossil energy reactors and accelerate deployment of potentially transformational systems.
Country delegates and advocates participate in roundtable sessions to discuss effective policy changes and approaches to overcome barriers to scale-up of successful PPFP interventions. Country delegates and advocates work together to identify priority actions to accelerate access to PPFP in line with their country action plans and discuss policy lessons, new program ideas, and tools to inform country-level PPFP investments.

Fall accelerates:
Another walk around one of the lakes here. I was surprised, fall colors were basically absent only few days ago, now there is obviously more to see. I hope color will build up a bit in the next weeks, and it's not gone before it really starts.
I did boost color in these a bit, it was a dull day.

Accelerated freefall (AFF) (known in Canada as progressive freefall) is a method of skydiving training. This method of skydiving training is called "accelerated" because the progression is the fastest way to experience solo freefall, normally from 10,000 to 15,000 feet "Above Ground Level" (AGL).In most AFF programs, two instructors jump with the student during their first three AFF jumps, although some programs may use only one instructor. On the initial levels, the instructor(s) hold on to the student until the student deploys their own parachute. Hence, this method is classified as "Harness Hold Training." The AFF instructors have no physical connection to the student other than their grip on the student, so once the student's parachute is deployed the instructors fly away and deploy their own canopies.

Jefferson Lab, a physics research laboratory opens itself to the public every 2 years and it so happened that my first weekend in Newport News was its open house. I spent a few hours there touring their facility. This included their hydrogen refrigerator which is the largest in the world and their particle accelerator (which is quite a bit smaller than CERN). I actually got to go down into the tunnel where the accelerator is housed and walk along one of the straight stretches. This picture is of a box that receives and sends data collected at that point in the accelerator.

For private pilot students, the mandatory flight time is about 60 hours to 75 hours. This flight time is generally only for private pilots. The actual time for commercial pilots can range anywhere from 190 hours to about 250 hours. Accelerated flight training courses may not really work if you don’t have the necessary theoretical training. Please note that this set flying hours are also changed quite regularly as Federal Flight Regulations change. There are several nationally recognized accelerated flight training schools that will offer professional training courses. These courses can be expensive but they are the most comprehensive as they provide complete theoretical and practical training. Accredited accelerated flight training courses offered by these schools also meet national standards of training and they are also recognized by the US Department of Education. Candidates with these types of accelerated flight training licenses are more likely to be accepted by national employers. We also suggest you check with renowned industry recognized websites like the AOPA. This organization has a complete online flight school directory that you can use as a guide to find an accelerated flight training course. The website also has an online flight instructor who will be able to teach you through an online medium as much as possible before you start your hands-on accelerated flight training course.
