On July 24, 2024, the session "An Action Plan to Accelerate bNAbs for Peri- and Post-Natal Prophylaxis (PNP)" was held at the AIDS 2024 conference. Organized by the International AIDS Society (IAS), IAVI, and the Desmond Tutu Health Foundation (DTHF), this session officially launched the action plan developed by a task force of 108 experts from 19 countries. The plan outlines priority actions to expedite the indication and use of broadly neutralizing antibodies (bNAbs) for infant HIV prophylaxis.

Key presentations included introductory remarks by Linda-Gail Bekker of DTHF, and Lynda Stranix-Chibanda from the University of Zimbabwe, who presented the action plan. The session featured a roundtable discussion addressing regulatory considerations, clinical development strategies, community engagement, manufacturing and access strategies, and advocacy and policy.

Notable speakers included Sebastien Morin from MPP, who emphasized the need for defined access measures, innovative manufacturing platforms, and broad access to bNAbs. Stephanie Buchholz from EMA stressed early regulatory engagement, while Philister Adhiambo from KEMRI highlighted the importance of community engagement from the onset.

The session underscored the urgency of addressing pediatric HIV prevention, with a focus on sustainable supply and equitable access to bNAbs.

The event concluded with a call for coordinated efforts to implement the action plan, ensuring that innovative HIV prevention strategies are accessible and affordable for all, especially in low- and middle-income countries.
