Close-up of a sculpted face emerging from a geometric tiled facade in black and white, Kovács Margit Museum, Szentendre, Hungary.
An iconic apartment building in Almere (my city of residence), designed by architect René van Zuuk. Working at my commission “Ritme in de Polder” [rhythm in the polder] I photographed the building as seen from the water. The building has a surface covered with aluminium plates placed with scale-like overlaps that together depict a wavy surface. I was excited being able to capture its reflection in the waves beneath. To make the composition more clear I took the liberty to remove the parking lot that is located beneath the building, just above the water surface.
This image is part of my current exhibition in Almere, The Netherlands, open until 9 April 2023. More information:

A 60's office building in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, that has been converted into luxury living and its derelict low rise neighbour.
I struggled with editing this image. I love the composition, but getting the dark and light not too dark and not too light was a challenge; and I still don’t think I’ve got it right. The light parts just aren’t light enough, and I’ve always struggled with getting monochrome images to have nice lighter parts of the image without having just a texture-less white space. Each photograph teaches us a lesson and often that lesson is “you have a lot more to learn.”
