A geologist’s other-worldly paradise, the colorful hills, flat-topped mesas and sculptured buttes of these painted hills in Utah are primarily made up of river-related deposits dating back some 200 million years. Inhabited by indigenous people for thousands of years, the multi-hued sweep of pigmented rock in the arid high desert seems endless in these vast and striated badlands.
A cold, drizzly Sunday afternoon is a perfect time for playing around with a photo technique. It took a while of messing around with a CD cover balanced on tins to get something I was happy with - I settled on this one with some coloured pencils in the background. It's one to come back to in the future and try out a few more variations I think.
Looking the opposite way from the previous shot, at the 'lit string' archway. This view made the red tones a lot more prominent.
I have always loved the Modern period in art history. The sunrise colouring was amazing this morning and it reflected beautifully on the water and sand. Olga

At the end of Jackson, in Mission Trails Park is a very odd structure... I found it quite abstract. It is large, each sheet of plywood it about 10 x 15 feet. This looks better in large on black.
