I didn't want to intrepret the caves exactly but as a amateur acheologist and student of ancient languages including petraglypes I wanted to interpret this with my favorite pictoral language, Ancient Hebrew. The first letter of the alphabet is symbolized by an ox head and the paintings of Lascaux reminded me of this. The foacl bead is made of clay and sand, hand carved and painted in a natural stone bezel. All other beads including ancient ivory beads with the pictorial letters, faux lava stone, large turquoise stones, and faux fossil beads I made to coordinate with this, the only exception is the turquoise chips in-dispersed between them. This is the full view of my October monthly submission for ABS. I really had fun making it. I used a bead made by Heather Powers of Humblebeads. See MUCH more about this necklace on my blog:

I love ABS Yeah!
I love this month's challenge! And as soon as I saw it, I thought, I have the pendant for that!
I was actually making this pendant in the spirit of primitive artworks!
This necklace features 30 of my handmade clay beads plus the pendant. The Beads were fired in both reduction gas and salt kilns. I just so happens to fit me! Personality and size :-)
closeup, front bead. the rondelles are real sterling with swarovskis. not sure if those are even available any more. I used all of mine up on this!
This piece was made for the September ABS and features a long polymer art bead and a drip cast abstract flower both made by myself.

This is a unique necklace that combines mint green sea glass that has been wire wrapped and green gold art beads made from polymer clay. The necklace has 5 pieces of mint colored sea glass 4 polymer clay beads that have swirls of green and gold. The proud peacock is the inspiration for this line of handmade polymer beads.
The base is a rich emerald tone green with swirls of pattern created from mokume gane in shades of old gold, blues and blue-greens. These custom colors were created with the shifting tones of peacock feathers in mind. All the color comes from the polymer itself. The natural matte sheen of the expertly cured polymer yields a smooth finish. An asymmetrical effect is created by the hand rolled snake tapering, each is just a little different every time! These polymer clay beads have yellow crystals combined with them.
Each piece of sea glass is meticulously wire wrapped. The necklace is 19 inches around. It is held together with a bronze clasp that looks like a leaf. This is a one of a kind unique, artisan necklace.
The sea glass comes from the Isla de Mujeres, Mexico. I spent Christmas vacation there and everyday I devoted some time to picking up the sea glass, rinsing the sand off of it and drying it for the flight home. Wire wrapping this glass brought back fond memories of this beautiful little island.
