My first entry for an ABS challenge!

What started out as a bracelet became a long necklace... the roses are my own polymer creation, painted to match the color palette. I also used black onyx and Russian serpentine. I just love how the serpentine echos the squares of the trellis! I finished it off with suede cord tied in a knot.

This is my entry for the December ABS Challenge: The Captive Robin, John Anster Fitzgerald, c.1864

John Anster Fitzgerald - (1819? – 1906) "Victorian fairy painter - he was able to suggest the existence of a coherent alternative world which was ethereal and bizarre." So here is my small interpretation of the weird little creature that is holding on to the beaded rope that holds the Robin captive.

The lampwork beads are by two different Artisan Lampwork Artists:

www.generationslampwork.etsy.com and www.beadbrains.etsy.com

These beads are made of Triton Glass and that's what gives them that magical (fairly like) appearance.

Thank you for this excellent inspiration piece! The Marianne North artwork is fabulous. The story of her life gave me courage to submit my first piece to ABS!

I made these tangerine beads a while back and was waiting for inspiration to hit. I found it in this month's ABS Challenge. They remind me of the lanterns in the painting. I pulled in some of the greens and purples from the painting and used some little yellow jade chip beads in between. Their lacyness mimics the lily. The ribbon is just the color of the girls dresses. I dangled some little pink flower beads at the clasp.

I had created the focal bead for fun, and then decided to design this bracelet around it when I saw the November Art Bead Scene challenge.

This month's challenge is based on the painting The Fairy Fellers' Master-Stroke by Richard Dadd. I was attracted to the dark, earthy and almost metallic color palette as well as the white flowers and dark grasses in this painting, so that was my guiding theme for this.

I found several kinds of flower charms and beads that appealed to me on ArtBeads.com, and was able to incorporate them into my bracelet. It's fairly simple, but I enjoyed playing with the little details. The centers of the translucent resin flowers are suede circles.
