Most popular are the many steam engines from England but also the many historic vehicles such as cars, trucks, tractors, agricultural machines, military vehicles, fire engines and buses. Furthermore, activities such as a fair, model and parts market, mineral and fossil show, and organ concerts. There is also plenty to do on the water and in the air, such as short boattrips, a naval parade, helicopter demonstrations and a fireworks show. This with music from various bands and artists and with about 200.000 visitors in total a well attended event.

According to an old tale, a traveller with no money stopped in Lautrec in order to eat, but as he had no money, he paid with pink cloves of garlic instead.

Tom Thumb in the Efteling is based on one of the eight fairytales published by Charles Perrault "Le petit Poucet" in "Histoires ou contes du temps passé" in 1697. The scene, designed as "Klein Duimpje", is since 1998 in the Fairytale Forest. Tom Thumb is stealing the Seven-league boots of the sleeping ogre. To call Tom Thumb, you have to call his name in a hole of a wooden log.

Sleeping Beauty Castle - completed in 1992, for the park's 12 April opening, Le Château de la Belle au Bois Dormant stands 50 meters (160 ft) tall. The Castle is home to a dragon, which, at 27 meters (89 ft) from head to tail, was the largest Animatronic figure yet built when the park opened in April 1992. The walkthrough attraction consists of a dimly lit cavern with the large dragon sleeping silently. Occasionally it will 'wake up', puffing smoke and growling. A very popular destination in the Périgord Noir, maybe because modern history has largely passed it by. Sarlat has remained preserved and one of the towns most representative of 14th century France. The old centre consists of impeccably restored stone buildings, with 77 protected monuments it's on France's tentative list for future nomination as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Largely car-free with lots of narrow ancient streets and small stores, an absolute pleasure to walk through and to discover.

The "ANVT 4WD Strandevenement", organised by the "Nederlandse Vereniging van Terreinvoertuigen" is an annual four wheel drive beach event where these types of vehicles are allowed on the beach of Rockanje. Efteling Museum - opened in 2003 on the renovated and expanded Anton Pieckplein. The museum houses old ornaments, statues and attributes of the park. For example, you can see the first original flying fakir, the speaking map, the first witches who were on top of the entrance gate to the Fairytale Forest and many dozens of molds of heads. There is also an exhibition space where original design sketches can be seen.

Sprookjesbeelden aan Zee (Fairy Tale Sculptures by the Sea) - a free sculpture terrace on the boulevard of Scheveningen. The sympathetic sculptures by the American sculptor Tom Otterness are part of "Museum Beelden aan Zee" behind it. The more than twenty works of art depict various fairy tales, such as those of Gulliver, Hansel and Gretel, Tin Soldier, Moby Dick, Pinocchio and Hans Brinker.
Most striking is the gigantic Haringeter that has become the icon of the new Scheveningen boulevard. In total, the sculpture terrace comprises three large and twenty smaller bronze works of art with a skin of shiny patina, playfully placed on the boulevard, on islands and banisters. For photographers the glossy sculptures are a popular subject, not easy to isolate from the wandering crowds on this boulevard, but especially to capture these sculptures with some nice contrasting clouds or a sunset in the background.

Steam engines - very impressive!. Many historic steam engines, impressive, large and hissing, and beautifully lit in the evening. Not only were they parked somewhere but they also drove around the old city center which got a lot of attention from the public. The sound of the steam whistles has long been the typical sound for another summer edition of the Vestingdagen event.

The Vestingdagen (Fortress Days) in Hellevoetsluis, an annual multi-day event since 1979. Very popular and with lots of activities in and around the former naval base of the Netherlands. With many historic and vintage ships and vehicles, steam engines, fair and market, various types of demonstrations in the air and ofcourse on the water. Also, lots to do like short boattrips, visit the various musea, watch the naval parade and fireworks show late at night. With about 200.000 visitors in total a well attended event.
