This tramcar is named in honor of the composer, organist and pianist Olivier Messiaen (Olivier Eugène Charles Prosper Messiaen, 1908-1992), born in Avignon.

The location is alongside Avenue Pierre Semard, just east of Barbière - Cap Sud station. Note the shopping center at right.

When Pope Innocent VI was still a cardinal, he owned an hôtel particulier and land in Villeneuve lès Avignon. After elected pope in 1352, he donated it to the Carthusian order. The monastery comprises one church, three cloisters, and 40 cells, making it the largest Carthusian monastery in France.
