My day started with an early morning flight from Dublin to Paris, followed by a TGV train from Paris to Avignon TGV. My final ride of the day will be on this Bombardier-built EMU that is operating the shuttle service from Avignon TGV into Avignon.

A great little street during the Avignon Festival in July 2016. These umbrellas, suspended high, protected us from the showers and were beautifully illuminated in the sun.
FRANCE - Provence , Ausgrabungen und röm. Tempelruinen -Les Antiques und Glanum
Glanum war eine römische Stadt in der Provence in Südfrankreich an den nördlichen Hängen der Alpilles-Kette im heutigen Département Bouches-du-Rhône, ca. 20 km südlich der heutigen Stadt Avignon und liegt im Süden von Saint-Rémy-de-Provence an der D5 Richtung Maussane-les-Alpilles und Les Baux-de-Provence.
Die Tempel standen direkt am Forum und wurden zwischen 30 und 20 v.Chr. erbaut unter Kaiser Augustus erbaut. Wegen ihrer Ähnlichkeit und Anordnung werden sie Zwillingstempel genannt. Wahrscheinlich waren sie Augustus und Livia geweiht, also ein Kult um die kaiserliche Familie. Wie sie einmal ausgesehen haben könnten, zeigt die Rekonstruktion.
