Half an hour on the platforms at Avignon provided a delightful end to the day

Avignon, a city in southeastern France’s Provence region, is set on the Rhône River. From 1309 to 1377, it was the seat of the Catholic popes, and remained under papal rule until becoming part of France in 1791. Its center, surrounded by medieval stone ramparts, contains the massive Palais des Papes and remains of the Saint-Bénezet bridge, also known as Pont d’Avignon.

Avignon, célèbre pour son pont et son festival. D'ici on croirait voir un œil géant dessiné par le centre historique de la ville.

Avignon, there is a famous bridge there, but spoiler alert: it doesn't actually go all the way to the other side! So half a bridge really. A very good and famous theatre festival too, everybody should check it out.
