Marche pour le climat le 28 Mars 2021 à Troyes...

Maine gave me plenty of opportunities to capture Nature at her best. This shit was taken at my older brothers home in Belmont, Maine. He spends lots of time in his yard trimming trees and tending to his beautiful flowers. Flowers like this are always “Getting Attention.”I love the color being represented here. Thanks for viewing my work. Stay kind.

Bull moose do not make this size/maturity without a healthy fear of humans pointing things at them! As this trophy grazed in an opening between forest boundaries, I was able to have about a three second photo shoot with him before he trotted off and disappeared into the woods behind him.

The amazing part is that with his antlers still growing and in full velvet…easily five+ feet across…he disappeared in the heavy vegetation like a 1600-pound ninja.

The alpaca (Vicugna pacos), also known as Pako, is a domesticated camel from the South American Andes, which is mainly bred for its wool. The population of alpacas in Peru is about 3.5 million animals, which accounts for about 80 percent of the worldwide population.

Boy, they said the new recruits were big, but...

Anyway, you still have a lot to learn. When I say “Attention” that means legs together and arms at your sides. Who taught you to hold your arms straight out like that? You will be too tired to hold them up in about 5 minutes. Another thing (can you hear me down there at the end of the line?) when I say “fall in” that means next to each other. They way you are lined up now, you are even taking social distancing too far. If I didn’t have this bullhorn I’m sure those of you lined up in the next county wouldn’t even hear me. I am glad that you thought to tether the fellas on the end with those wires so they can’t get lost or wander off though.

Okay, now we are going to do this over and over again until we get it right. Fall out!

No matter how large or how small a given space may be there’s always room for colors to share that space. A tree has so much space to share with lots of vivid colors. Look at the colors or shades that Autumn provides us at its peak. A Maple tree is a good example. On a smaller scale look at the most colorful fish in an aquarium. One fish can house several colors within its body. Though many flowers appear to represent basically one color such as a Red Rose, a Yellow Rose etc., this rose caught my attention in that there are no less than two beautiful “Colors Sharing Space” Nature continues to amaze and impress us with miracles (plants, animals and people) that come in many colors yet sharing small spaces. Thanks for viewing my work.

This wooden carving of a cat is designed to be in a horizontal position but I have propped it up against the back of a sofa to make it look like a sentry with it's tail looking like a rifle pointing to the sky.

How magical are this wee lambs ears very expressive I thought?

LOL Or perhaps he is going to conduct the chorus? We came upon a flock (well I did anyway, because for once Anita sat in the car while I got out and walked a short path along the river!!) of Graylag geese enjoying bath time in the frigid waters of the Shenandoah River. Even now when I think about it, I get the shivers! There was ice all along the edges of the river and yet they appeared to be just as happy as if it were 90 + degrees out.

During the breeding season in spring and summer, the male frogs advertise their availability with loud bursts of quacking croaks. They produce this impressive sound by inflating two vocal sacs on either side of their head, which push out like giant bubbles as they vocalise. These air-filled sacks amplify their calls, so they can be heard clearly from some distance away. Once one male starts to call, his neighbours soon join in, until the whole wetland is filled with a chorus of cackling.

This one certainly attracted the attention of the local females! He could be heard the entire length of the BWC!

Continuing my "Critters In Winter" series, here's a beetle sauntering along the ice in February. Not exactly attractive, this one, but it attracted my attention. Who knew? And where was it going? And to do what? And why?

There's nothing to eat out there in February; there's no one to mate with. But there it was, activated by unseen forces, marching across a frozen wasteland like Sir John Franklin's crew after their ships went down in the Arctic in 1848.

As I recall, this was a cold day. I walked along the frozen Frenchman River, unconcerned about the ice cracking. It was a solid mass. I didn't last very long out there, and - I'm sure - neither did the beetle.
