There couldn't have been more than about two minutes from the time I approached this fence until I walked away. Perhaps a reflection on my increasingly short attention span. Or maybe my internal guidance system telling me that I already had the definitive shot and there was no point hanging out here. I get that quote often while out shooting. An inner voice seems to tell me when I'm done. Sometimes it's so clear and distinct that it feels external, not of my own mind. No matter; I always heed it. Anyway, back in the moment, I immediately reacted to the shadows cast by the pickets. They seemed to lengthen the pickets in a way that restored their full height, as if to account for the lower portions that were buried in the deep snow. I also loved the dichotomy of the quintessential white picket fence transformed into something ominous, almost cage-like. Not to mention another bright, sunny winter day turned into a film noir abstraction.

Saguaro cactus seem to stand in glorious attention in their environment and view distant wonders. This photo was taken from the Sunrise Trail in the Scottsdale McDowell Mountain Preserve. In the distance are the Mazatzal Mountains in the Tonto National Forest with Four Peaks seen on the right side. Brown's Peak at 7,659 feet is the tallest and is at the left of the four. And, yes that is some snow can be seen on the peaks.

I noticed this Northern parula in the Maple tree among the tree's samaras. It is a first for me and the yard so long as I know. The Cornell Labs says they are in this area and in breeding plumage. It took some research before I found the ID.

Thank you for letting me be a model for this issue!!! www.attentionmagazinesecondlife.com/

Unfolding ....( Vietnam, a travel to the lotus country)

I’m finding it hard to get the tree out of my mind, the tree, our tree. It’s one of those horrible WHY moments in my life that have stunned me, John Lennon’s assassination, the twin towers, Brexit and now our tree. I keep saying our tree because it was our tree, not Robin Hoods tree, our tree, it’s a place on the map it was the most beautiful icon of the North East. I viewed many beautiful photos yesterday and read the words, shock, disbelief and memories, some said simply “no words” which is understandable, although I need to share my words or they just rattle about in me. I’ve taken many a photo of the tree and I always intend to go and get that special sunrise, backed by the Aurora, arcing with the milky way or a snowy day with ice hanging from it’s branches. It’s never to be now. However I can’t stop thinking am I and photographers like me are partly to blame for this tragedy, forever posting photos on social media making the tree more famous, more attention. If it never had this cult notoriety maybe it would still be happily standing today watching the many pilgrims walking the wall, maybe the mindless moron who ended its days would have been oblivious of its existence, maybe. Too many questions, too many thoughts which time will bury but not really heal. Anyway here is my last goodbye star tree.

One of 4 male Polar Bears at "project Polar", Yorkshire Wildlife Park, standing upright to look for his friends in a nearby enclosure. There are several large enclosures with lakes for swimming and though the bears normally get on well enough, this one had been temporarily separated, apparently as it was getting a bit aggressive, due to it being breeding season.

We didn't realise there there are now another 4 Polar Bears there now (a mother and 3 cubs) in a separate enclosure, some distance away.

Walking the local park area looking for anything unusual or unique. I know, not many of us have seen a dandelion in full bloom!

Yes, of course I'm kidding, but for some reason this one caught my attention!

A few of the male red deer are checking out a dog walker. Was hoping for a little more snow of the grass at Studley Royal but then, it probably would have been more difficult to drive there!

Nadir Divan-begi Madrasah is a part of the architectural complex located round well-known Lyabi-Hauz in Bukhara. The madrasah building, as well as khanaka nearby, were named after vizier Nadir by whose order they were constructed. Vizier Nadir served at a court yard of one the strongest and powerful representatives of Ashtarkhanid dynasty Imamkuli-khan, who ruled in Bukhara in 1611-1642. The board of Imamkuli-khan was one of the most stable and relatively peaceful for the whole history of Ashtarkhanids in Bukhara. It was time when governors paid attention not only to constant wars, but also to town-planning.

Mr Spock just likes to take over the furniture so Buttercup can't sit on it.

I quite literally stumbled across these young Trumpeter Swans - I was looking at something further along the beach, when I came around a bush to see them right in front of me! They (and their parents) weren't troubled at all - but after taking a couple of quick shots I backed away....

Just goes to show - always pay attention to your surroundings - you never know what you might stumble across!

Come in to bed

Switch off the lights

Close your eyes, sleep tonight

Think of all the things we did today You touch me then, we fall apart

I lose control, the hardest part

I wish there it could be another way Losing, i'm losing

I'm losing my mind

Ruining, i'm ruining

You're ruining my mind

You cut me deep like broken glass

I wonder when this time will pass

Or will i fall asunder everyday Sitting here beside the fire

The flames they grow just like desire

Will i fall asunder everyday

Losing, i'm losing

I'm losing my mind

Ruining, i'm ruining

You're ruining my mind

A cravat is a neckband, the forerunner of the modern tailored necktie and bow tie, originating from a style worn by members of the 17th century military unit known as the Cravats. The modern British "cravat" is known as an "ascot" in the USA.

A boater, also known as a straw boater, basher, skimmer, Panama, cady, canotier is a semi-formal summer hat for men, which was popularised in the late 19th century and early 20th century.
