At the heart of Barbados lies one of its greatest wonders, Harrison’s Cave. Located in the central uplands of the island, this breathtakingly beautiful, crystallised limestone cavern is a testament to nature’s mastery.
Flowing streams, deep pools of crystal clear water and towering columns characterise this living cave.
Gaze in wonder at the white flowstones and in awe at the beauty of the speleothems which adorn the cave.

A nice 'middle of nowhere' shot of Class 37 37220 on Pathfinder Railtours 'Gwent Valley Explorer' at Machen. The mighty D200 was at the other end - top and tail.

Sound & Vision on SoundCloud - more memories from a mis-spent youth 😎 During the 1980s, I spent a lot of my time riding around the British Rail network, mainly chasing Class 40s and then Class 50s, but also seeing and riding behind a number of other classes. I made a number of tape recordings at the time - many from the front window, some from the platform - using my trusty 'ghetto-blaster' or 'boom box' - and now these recordings can finally be heard :)
Join me at the front window for two recordings of pioneer Class 40 D200 (40122) on this tour - a short pair of tracks recorded from the front window behind celebrity loco D200 (40122) as she makes a spirited departure from Cardiff with 1Z37 - the Gwent Valley Explorer railtour. In the first track, we here a group of bashers discussing whatever as the train prepares to leave Cardiff - the whistle finally blows and the driver gets D200 off to a cruise and then a gallop. Class 90 No.90042 with 90007 dead in train leave Ipswich on 4M88 Felixstowe - Crewe on 22nd June 2009.90007 was going to Crewe for overhaul.New to stock at Crewe Electric on 5th June 1990 as 90042 and was renumbered to 90142 from 12th July 1991 until 17th November 2001 when it reverted back to 90042.She has recently been outshopped in Freightliner Powerhaul livery.
The imposition of the National Bus Company's standard livery, in either its green or red variant, led to the disappearance of scores of individual company colour-schemes and fleetname styles. Of these lost liveries, City of Oxford Motor Services had one of the most beautiful and distinctive. As I remember it, the colour scheme combined red with bands of eau-de-Nil and a darkish sang-de-bœuf for the roof. The most exquisite harmonies, it is said, teeter on the brink of discord.
But by Tuesday 9th August 1977 it was too late. Blah NBC "poppy" red, with its unlined white band and fleetname lettering, had been imposed throughout the fleet. I took very few photographs of one-man-operated double deckers because I found them boring ...mere boxes on wheels with an unsightly "suitcase" across the back to enclose the transverse engine. Now that the eye is accustomed to the charmless externals of modern buses however, the nicely rounded lineaments of this vehicle seem quite attractive. The bus is a Daimler Fleetline CRG6LX with Alexander bodywork which City of Oxford had acquired from the Midland Red company. It is seen in High Street ...or should we perhaps write "The High"... at Oxford. In the view along its High Street, I sometimes feel that if you narrow the eyes a little you can see again the Cotswold town that Oxford once was.

At 13:27PM on September 1, 2017 the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to 10850 W La Tuna Canyon Road for a reported brush fire. Initially 1 acre along the side of the 210 FY, increased winds flamed the fire and caused it to jump the 210 FY. As of this posting, the fire is approximately 500 acres with over 260 LAFD firefighters on scene. Additional resources from Assisting Agencies LACoFD, Verdugo Fire, Burbank Fire, Pasadena Fire, Glendale Fire and Angeles National Forest. Precautionary evacuations affected approximately 200 homes. No injuries reported.

Shot at the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe. An impressive monument that needs the attached underground information centre/museum to overcome its own abstractness and convey its message.......and then it will grab you by the throat doing that.
In summer the monument seems sometimes to double as a park and in this way performs all kinds of informal functions.

This photo was taken at the Kasuga-taisha is a Shinto shrine in Nara, Japan. There are many shrines within the Kasugar-taisha shrine complex.
It is the shrine of the Fujiwara family, established in 768 CE and rebuilt several times over the centuries. The interior is famous for its many bronze lanterns, as well as the many stone lanterns that lead up the shrine. The architectural style Kasuga-zukuri takes its name from Kasuga Shrine's honden. The Torii at Kasuga-taisha is one of the oldest in Shinto and helped influence the style of Torii seen across much of Japan. Wikipedia
