This was intended to be part of the Stand Up for Peace Challenge last week but it took me a bit to figure out :D It's about the best homage I could to the Indian Holi Festival. For those that don't know and in short it's basically a festival to celebrate love. After I thought about the challenge a bit, I got to thinking: standin up for peace is awesome, but even better if you just applied this to all aspects of your life. Stop hating on others and stop hating on yourself. If everyone took a grip more time putting others before their own insecurities, then maybe there would be no need to stand up for peace. Maybe we would already have achieved it.

One of the aspects of fall and winter in the mountains that can be absolutely unforgettable are the brilliant sunsets over the misty mountains. Burnt orange, vibrant reds, nearly neon pinks roaring to life in a sky that was dull and grey only a few minutes before, then almost as fast as it began, the sunset is over, and you’re standing in the dark with a memory. Of course, if you’re a photographer you captured that memory, and brought it back to life to share with the rest of the world, doing your best to keep an even exposure, and perhaps toning down some of those vibrant colors of the sky just to give it a lifelike feel.

Cyanotrichite is a secondary mineral of the oxidation zone of copper deposits. Its genesis seems facilitated by an acid environment and a clayey surrounding. It owes its name to the Greek kuanos (blue) and thrix (hair) in connection with its color and its habitus in tufts of acicular crystals. It comes in orthorhombic fibers assembled in radiate rosettes, urchins with velvety aspect and silky luster. Its sky blue to azure blue color and its pale blue streak are characteristic as well as its association with other arsenates and sulphates of copper (chalcophyllite, spangolite, brochandite, adamite, etc...). It is a mineral little known to collectors who has no particular use.

The nature of your mind will be biased towards intellectualism, and you will be attracted towards the realm of ideas, expressing a creative and questioning curiosity plus the ability to understand the variety of answers that you discover from various sources. Your mind will tend to be analytical; and you are likely to be attracted towards work which involves enquiry, research or teaching. You have the ability to intuit an underlying, synthesising cohesive meaning within the varied knowledge you acquire; and this can be shared with others. Your mind will be penetrative and perceptive, often seeing through the appearances of things into their essential components; and new ideas and thinking will certainly hold fascination for you. The fact that you also have a vivid and creative imagination can help you to make new and interesting connections linking your knowledge into new patterns implying new understanding, perceptions and directions. In your personal relationships, you tend to be straight and direct; and apart from expecting the same form others, you are unlikely to forget any who seem to live by lower standards and choose to be less honest in their contacts with you. Trust and honesty are very important to you; and you require both in any partnership.

* One of the most extraordinary aspects of the city of Bologna is its amazing range of porticos. Today the historic centre of Bologna, that is to say the area included into the city walls of the thirteenth century, contains some 38 kilometres (23 miles) of porticos build during a long historic period from the eleventh to the twentieth century. It was very hot while we there but you could walk almost everywhere in the shade of these porticos. No doubt in bad weather you would be equally protected from rain and snow. Many Italian cities had extensive systems of porticos but most got rid of many of them to allow the roads to be widened. Bologna has chosen to put people before cars, which is a change. They are very pleasing to walk through, light and shadows constantly change under them. I took quite a few shots of these architectural features some of them will no doubt appear later in my stream.

The “sport” aspect of my photography has to do trying to catch the moment when my subject makes its catch. Failures swamp successes, but that only makes the successes that much sweeter. Vermilion Flycatchers are beautiful little flycatchers that will take off, without warning: up, down sideways to grab a flying insect that they spy. Catching that moment is a thrill. The one pictured here was taken at some distance and I wasn’t sure I captured the bug until I looked at the image in the camera. A treat for both me and my feathered friend. Erosion of the paperbark forest at Red Beach, Bribie Island, Queensland, Australia is a GREAT place to take a walk (when the tide is out) and take photographs. Very interesting beach landscape and forest to the foreshore, as well as birdlife.

I enjoy the grainy aspect when shooting with a low resolution device. Some seem to not favor having large foregrounds or backgrounds but this is how I feel great proportion and balance is gained. I tried many different angles with this shot and personally preferred being able to show the one angler having his morning smoke and the only way I could accomplish this was having their heads above the shore line. By doing this as well highlights the sunrise reflections on the face of the other sportsman. I feel this just ads to the depth of the image. since both heads have a unique presence. Sure I could crop out some of the foreground (Many will say I should) but it's my style and signature if you see my gallery

Fragmentos
El día cuatro de septiembre
Cabra se viste de gala
para ver a su patrona
que de la Sierra la bajan
entre el olivo y la palma,
entre el polvo y la campana.
.....
Bandera multicolor
que días antes se pasea
bajando de tu balcón,
parando al filo de mi reja.
Y todos, rodilla en tierra,
al redoble del tambor
que resuena por la Sierra
....
Aunque yo no esté contigo
siempre te recordaré
porque te llevo en el alma
y en el corazón también.
...
Virgencita de la Sierra,
no nos niegues tu favor,
te tengo abierta la puerta
de mi amante corazón.
("Cancionero tradicional egabrense".)

This part of the paperbark wetland/forest/swamp is in the Bongaree wetlands on Bribie Island.
Melaleuca quinquenervia, commonly known as broad-leaved paperbark, the paper bark tea tree or niaouli, is a small- to medium-sized tree of the allspice family, Myrtaceae. The plant is native to New Caledonia, Papua New Guinea and coastal eastern Australia, from Botany Bay in New South Wales northwards, into Queensland and the Northern Territory. It has become naturalised in the Everglades in Florida, where it is considered a serious weed by the USDA. The broad-leaved paperbark grows as a spreading tree up to 20 m high, with the trunk covered by a white, beige and grey thick papery bark. The grey-green leaves are ovate and the cream or white bottlebrush-like flowers appear from late spring to autumn. (Source: Wikipedia)

The aspect of photography I both love and hate the most... getting up freakishly early in the morning...
Today I woke up at 4:30 am in order to get out to the coast. After walking down the road to this spot I soon found myself knee deep in Pacific Ocean wave action.
After getting home I looked over the images, then took a hot bath, then slept a while... in the bath... finally, I woke up and processed the image a little, and now here it is.... so... what's next?

Aspects of York on 5 & 6 October 2022.
Looking downstream under the Ouse Bridge, the middle one of the three road bridges across the River Ouse in York centre, which was completed in its present form in 1821. It is on the site of, or very close to, earlier structures that date back to the Vikings, a wooden bridge having been reported as collapsing in 1154. The earliest bridge in York was built by the Romans on a site a few hundred metres upstream from here, not far below the 1863 completed Lendal Bridge. Further downstream is Skeldergate Bridge of 1881.
