“So what is your story?” Nahla asked while idly and in bored fashion flipped through a random book sitting upon one of the desks.
“I’m just an Elf.” Solarawen replied, eyes shifted slightly over her left shoulder to the tiefling. “Don’t touch that.”
“Well, to look at you one would guess that but there is something a bit more about you. I see the scars along your shoulders and hands, what caused those?” Of course not listening to being told to stop touching things, she continued to flip through the pages while plopped into one of the not so comfortable wooden chairs. A soft protest of a squeak came from her shoulder where a small primate did it’s best to hide from the large white owl upon the elf's shoulder. Though Thalk’s golden eyes never left the small morsel’s position. Solarawen closed the book she had in her hands, a hesitant glance at the scars spoken of before she placed the book back and pulled another. “I mean, if I am going to be doing work for you the least you could do is give me a little information.”
“Information you would then turn and sell to someone else? After I am paying you gold to give me information on others?” Her tone did not sound accusatory, in fact it was rather even and blase throughout most of the conversations Nahla had with her.
“Gold is easy for me to come by,” A slight wave of the tiefling’s hand to dismiss the idea. “I’m curious and want a story instead. Your story. I mean, it isn’t like anyone is going to ask about you. No one even knows you yet nor do they probably care to. You’re just some random student so far. And even if they did, What would I tell them? A pretty elf had some curiosity but lacked the social skills to get to know them? I’d probably die and your story would die with me in the process of asking around. So why not? It is all the payment I am asking for. I’d say that is fair.” There was a sigh, that caused a smirk to curl on Nahla’s lips. She knew that sigh well enough to know she was about to get what was asked for.
A clap of the book and Solarawen turned around walking over to the table with an expression that Nahla couldn’t quite read. It wasn’t exactly annoyance nor was it amusement. In fact, something about it seemed almost sinister or devious in a way. That couldn’t be right, elves weren’t like that. So she thought.
“So what do you want to know?” The question posed as she settled down in a chair across the table. “About the scars? Or about where I am from? You have my name and my general information already. What is it you so desire that you would refuse gold in turn?” The tiefling licked her lips and leaned forward. The book in front of her was already forgotten and shoved to the wayside.
“Tell me about the scars. I’ve not seen scars like those before. How did you get them?”
“By meddling in magic before I was ready.” Nahla’s eyes squinted at the answer.
“Come on… More details, please.” Another sigh and the tiefling’s smile would grow to show her pointed teeth.
“When I was young I fell in love with a male who, in turn, fell in lust with me. All he wanted to do was have relations. Meanwhile I was trying to think of a future we both could have. Perhaps the naive nature of a younger self. While he was feeling me up, I was planning children and a home. I was daydreaming about how the introduction of him to my family would go. While that introduction got postponed time and time again. His choice of course. Until it could no longer be postponed because I was with a child.” Nahla raised a brow but was now intently listening.
“Everyone in Silverymoon knows my family are purists. Only elven blood in the family. As it turned out, my… choice in a male partner was not full elven blooded. He knew this of course, but chose to have his fun and when it came to the consequences… Well, he did not want to face the wrath of my mother for a child that would be… impure.” By this point of the story Nahla’s features changed slightly. Brows furrowed and head tilted with a hint of confusion in the expression on her face. She’d never heard of such a thing. The elves she had met throughout her life, at least the ones above ground, seemed to be tolerant if not loving of all life.
“So, this… partial elf decided that instead of facing down life as an outcast with me… because I would be exiled due to my child of course and lose everything. He decided to attempt to erase his mistake. To defend myself and my child I attempted to protect myself with magic I had not yet mastered. My mother caught us in the midst of battle and threw a chain lightning spell. She couldn’t have known what it would have done. At least I tell myself that. She was just trying to separate us. It killed him.” Solarawen nodded slightly. “And the baby. It went through one of my hands and out the other, which is where these scars came from. Instead of having me healed she insisted that the marks be left as a lesson. To what, I am not sure of. She claimed to not attempt magic without properly studying it first. Of which is true, had I studied it things might have gone differently. I might have chosen different spells or just misty stepped away and escaped with my and my baby’s life.” There was an awkward silence that followed before Solarawen stood back up and returned to the shelves she had been looking through already.
“I’m so sorry, Solarawen…”
“Don’t be. You now know I am not a simple naive elven maiden. Now, to business. I want to know of all the deity priests and priestesses within waterdeep. Just general information. I am not one for detailed stories.”
“As you wish.” Nahla stood up and brushed herself off. Though she agreed to it, she most likely would not seek out Solarawen again. Something about her didn’t seem right, and that instinct was what kept the orange haired tiefling intact for most of her life thus far. “You’ve a pleasant evening.” A polite bow of her horned head as she started to make her way out of the tower library. Thalk’s golden eyes stayed upon her and her little friend until they rounded the corner of a bookshelf.
“You too.” Solarawen muttered into yet another book. She was not a fool. She knew she’d never see the tiefling again. She’d have to find another way to gather information.
Give me a kiss to build a dream on
And my imagination will thrive upon that kiss
Sweetheart, I ask no more than this
A kiss to build a dream on
A Kiss to Build a Dream On

All three photos posted this morning were taken yesterday, 8 October 2015. Friend Sandy had asked if I wanted to go with her to join friends down at the Irrigation Canal in the city, for a birding walk. This was a long walk - three and a half hours - along both sides of the canal. As you can see in this image, it was a beautiful fall day with enough trees still dressed in gold to give some colourful reflections. The water level was very low, creating just a narrow strip of water with a wide mud bank on either side, that had attracted a number of Greater Yellowlegs and a single American Golden-plover. The latter was a new bird for me and, though I could only get a very distant, poor shot, I've posted it this morning. To me, a juvenile American Golden Plover looks so similar to a juvenile Black-bellied Plover (from photos I've seen), but the ID for the bird we saw was given as American Golden-plover. Much of the time, there were pale, dead grasses in the background and this bird was almost impossible to see.
I don't often see Hooded Mergansers and, when I do see one, it's always a long way away. They are quite spectacular ducks, especially the males, who have a crest at the back of their head and can raise this black and white "hood" or lower it (as in this photo). These two guys just did not want to raise their impressive crests.
"“Hooded” is something of an understatement for this extravagantly crested little duck. Adult males are a sight to behold, with sharp black-and-white patterns set off by chestnut flanks. Females get their own distinctive elegance from their cinnamon crest. Hooded Mergansers are fairly common on small ponds and rivers, where they dive for fish, crayfish, and other food, seizing it in their thin, serrated bills. They nest in tree cavities; the ducklings depart with a bold leap to the forest floor when only one day old." From AllAboutBirds.

How I got the shot:
I asked this little girl to give me a smile, overhearing this, her brother leaned, trying to "make" her smile. I knew its going to be a beautiful moment, I kept the focus locked, while having a little conversation, and camera pressed against my hip. As you can see, the boy is looking at me, the girl is looking at the camera.
For such reasons, I always say Luck can be controlled. Be prepared.
Many people ask, including myself "What did the original scene look like?"
I thought I would let everyone see the original shot of this particular post. A crop, elimination of two crows, add my signature, lighten the scene and that is it. OK. So thats all my eyes and Photoshop expertise will let me do.
Original is in first comment box below.
I was asked by Untold Method to contribute to their ongoing collaborative comic/graphic novel. This is the 5th page of the comic, and I was given all the dialogue and guidelines for the story. I did it using my typical technique of India ink on paper. This is pretty much my first attempt at working on a comic, but hopefully not my last. We'll see.......
In the meantime, check out the website to see the other pages. They have some talented folks working on it :)

Love Valley
The length of the Love Valley is 4900 meters. Although the entrance to the valley is not very suitable for vehicles, it is still accessible here. The moment you squeeze your teeth, you will be waiting for a beauty that will never regret you. Right after the landing, the water that comes in front will make your work difficult. However, the only time you have survived this short zone is to remove this pleasure. The most important feature of Cappadocia and the Love Valley and the elements that make this place wonderful are the fairy chimneys. Different sizes, colors, and even the impressive expression of light, these views will make you fall in love with yourself. It looks like the hats of the Smurfs we're fans of. Time travel between vineyards and fruit trees lasts approximately 2.5 hours. If you are accustomed to nature walks, you are sure to remember your moments happily after this region where you can finish in a short time with a slight tempo. But even if you say “I am not used to nature walking “, you will not even understand that you are tired of the beauty of the region. Whatever your choice, you will see it worth it.
This is another shot from the last batch of images from my D5100. Since I now switched to Canon as my 2.nd camera, I guess I will find out if it is the camera or the monkey behind it which causes problems.
The image was taken in Asker last week around sunset. I have previously posted a shot from this location which I like a lot.

Due to the fact that the sun sets behind some hills, the glorious last rays can not be captured in Asker.
Thanks for stopping by.

Since today was the coldest day we have had since May I though that the warmth of Jamaica might be appropriate! I took this one while sitting at the bar on evening, waiting for our dinner reservations. The clouds that we saw while we were there were some of the best I've ever seen!
As for the technical details of this shot, I processed it a while ago and can't remember all the treatment. I don't want to give a partial story, so I will skip them today!
I hope that you all have a great week!
I don't mind invitations, but please no big, shiny, flashing, glitter graphics, they will be deleted. Also, please contact me if you would like to use my pictures for any reason, as all rights are reserved. Thanks!

Considering I managed to do something pertaining to the day number yesterday, 100 could not be that difficult. But I was not really planning on it until Dad said: "So, what are you doing for 100?"
After thinking about it for a couple of hours, asking for ideas from Dad, my best friend and her mum, I tried photographing some coins - 100 Icelandic Kroner, 1 cent, etc. but none of them really worked - I could not get any definition on the coins and they did not work how I wanted them to.
And so, you ask, what do two tin cans and a piece of string have to do with anything, let alone 100?
Well, the string is just there to make the two tin cans slightly more relevant to non-chemists, and a slightly more interesting image.
The atomic number of the element tin is 50, ergo, two tins make 100.
A lot of people have been asking for a more affordable canvas. Found this while cleaning up and it's now up in my store for.

Göremezsin sevdiğini
Koklayamazsın, sevemezsin
Elini saçlarına atıp okşayamazsın
Gözlerine bakıp hayallere dalamazsın
Elini tutup umuda doğru koşamazsın
Başın sevdasıyla dönerken yarin
Dizine koyup rahatlayamazsın
Beraberce bağırarak türkü söyleyemezsin
Dünyaya sevdiğini haykıramazsın
Kısacası sevdiğinle hiç bir şey yaşayamazsın
Sadece kalpleriniz birdir
Hayalleriniz birdir
Gönüller birdir.
Sevgiler birdir
İşte bu dur uzaktakini sevmek!
Thanks guys!! For the comments, flickrmails, and and asking after me even though I was not here. What started as a simple break to learn PS... spiralled down to a whole lot of things and I kept postponing my return to a better time when I could spend more time here.
Then I realised... it's not gonna happen too soon.. so I just picked up my boot straps... and here I am. :) Will reply all your mails and comments in a while. First let me visit all your streams to see what you guys have been upto in my absence. :)
See you all at your streams!!! :)
PS: I had clicked this flower at an artificially created replica of an Amazon rainforest here in SFO. This was the only flower on the plant... and it was quite dark there( specially with lot's of people around. As I looked through the viewfinder... to check the flower.. I saw how just the flower was getting some light filtering through the trees above. It seemed like the flower was... enlightedned. :D:D:D:D:D What do you think?? :) Oh... and btw... I used picasa to crop this. Am still not comfortable with PS. :P
7 cans deep, first one ive been happy with for a while, looks like a late halloween!

Sevdin mi?
Diller susup gözler konuşmalıydı önce
Yalnızlıklar insafa gelip yol vermeliydi aşklara
Sevdin mi?
onu düşünmeliydin onsuzken bile onu özlemeliydin ...
Özlemek kalbine vurgun etmeliydi
Sevinmeliydin güne uyanırken
aynı şehirde olmanın, aynı duyguları paylaşmanın tutkusunu yaşamalıydın
Gözyaşı düşecek olsa gözünden taşan o damla yaş sen olmalıydın...
Dertleriyle dertlenmeyi bilmeliydin..
kimbilir...
qamzeli...

I saw Kathy in AYALA TERRACES, a shoppingcenter, and I asked her if she'd be interested in a photoshoot.. She surprised me because she said yes, I'd love to do that... So another shoot in CEBU... She is amazing, right? And a professional model for an agency FRONTROW but I didn't know that when I did meet her for the first time... She's in school, for the course fashion design. She likes Cebu because of the beaches, the resorts, etc. Enjoy my pics.
