The Lake District, also known as, The Lakes or Lakeland, is a mountainous region in North West England. A popular holiday destination, it is famous for its lakes and its mountains (or fells), and its associations with the early 19th century poetry and writings of William Wordsworth and the Lake Poets.
The central, and most visited, part of the area is contained in the Lake District National Park, the largest of thirteen National Parks in England and Wales, and second largest in the UK.[1] It lies entirely within Cumbria, and is one of England's few mountainous regions. All the land in England higher than three thousand feet above sea level lies within the National Park, including Scafell Pike, the highest mountain in England. It also contains the deepest and longest lakes in England.

I recently took a class on composition. The teacher recommended we do a lot of practice in black and white. I use 4 markers—black and 3 shades of gray. It's really a neat exercise.

Ash Cave was my third and final stop on my late Oct visit to the Hocking Hills State park, near Logan. I think Ash Cave is just an amazing place, and very changing to capture in a photograph.

Funan Mall guide: Where to explore, eat and shop | Honeycombers
Funan used to be a mall mecca for the latest electronics and IT goods. But after a three-year makeover, it's transformed into an all-round experience complete with indoor cycling trails, a rooftop garden, a local theatre and a co-living space.

Hundreds came to St. John Cantius parish to begin the penitential season of Lent. This is a privileged season of grace for the entire Church. It begins the annual solemn preparation for the Easter Mystery which is the culmination of the Church Year.
The Latin name for Lent, Quadragesima, means forty and refers to the forty days Christ spent in the desert which is the origin of the Season.
As happens on every Ash Wednesday, the people receive ashes on their foreheads in the shape of a cross while the priest says, "Remember that thou art dust and unto dust thou shall return." Ashes are a biblical symbol of repentance, sorrow, and humility. It is a fitting beginning to this holy season dedicated to the conversion of our hearts and the need to do acts of penance for ourselves and for the world.

This isn't the raw photo; this is after playing around with it a bit.
But I like this image so much that I anticipate playing with it a lot. It reminds me of an album cover. Poor Ash doesn't know just how many permutations of this portrait I'm going to make. :)
