Foresters survey ash trees in Dundalk for the invasive emerald ash borer.
Driving up and down every street in a studied area, they first determine the location of each tree and document their progress on a map. They then use a specially calibrated tape to measure the diameter at breast height, about 1.37 meters. Next, they measure the height with a clinometer by counting off paces from the trunk, and then sighting to the base and the highest point of the canopy. Lastly, they’ll assess the overall condition of the tree.
Ash Cave was my third and final stop on my late Oct visit to the Hocking Hills State park, near Logan. I think Ash Cave is just an amazing place, and very changing to capture in a photograph.
This is the web sized brand for Ash Wednesday. I thought the brush script was cool.
This is fully implemented, but I'd still love to hear your opinions!
I put my leather jacket on the floor for just a moment while I went off to do something. I came back to find Ash asleep on my jacket.

This bench was created from the first ash tree removed due to the emerald ash borer in the City of Grosse Pointe Park. The bench sits right outside of the city's offices as a reminder of what the city has lost.
Hundreds came to St. John Cantius parish to begin the penitential season of Lent. This is a privileged season of grace for the entire Church. It begins the annual solemn preparation for the Easter Mystery which is the culmination of the Church Year.
The Latin name for Lent, Quadragesima, means forty and refers to the forty days Christ spent in the desert which is the origin of the Season.
As happens on every Ash Wednesday, the people receive ashes on their foreheads in the shape of a cross while the priest says, "Remember that thou art dust and unto dust thou shall return." Ashes are a biblical symbol of repentance, sorrow, and humility. It is a fitting beginning to this holy season dedicated to the conversion of our hearts and the need to do acts of penance for ourselves and for the world.

Ash was born in July 2015 and is a beautiful black boy. He is an unraced pup, well adjusted, friendly and affectionate. He will make a good pet for an active family as he loves to play. He would go well with other dogs of a similar size but is unlikely to be cat friendly without work.
