Ash Tree Farm is a very old building in the village of Willaston on the Wirral Peninsula, Cheshire, England. Centred on a village green,Willaston is located in the unitary authority of Cheshire West and Chester between Neston and Ellesmere Port, just south of the boundary with the Metropolitan Borough of Wirral. At the 2001 Census, the total population of the ward was 3,913.
Large open-grown ash, probably white ash, Fraxinus americana, succumbing to phytoplasma causing crown dieback and clumped foiiage. A common sight locally, affecting many large trees on roadsides and forest edges. S end Willett Pond Dam, Walpole, MA 8/23/12
Hundreds came to St. John Cantius parish to begin the penitential season of Lent. This is a privileged season of grace for the entire Church. It begins the annual solemn preparation for the Easter Mystery which is the culmination of the Church Year.
The Latin name for Lent, Quadragesima, means forty and refers to the forty days Christ spent in the desert which is the origin of the Season.
As happens on every Ash Wednesday, the people receive ashes on their foreheads in the shape of a cross while the priest says, "Remember that thou art dust and unto dust thou shall return." Ashes are a biblical symbol of repentance, sorrow, and humility. It is a fitting beginning to this holy season dedicated to the conversion of our hearts and the need to do acts of penance for ourselves and for the world.

Ash is a native tree to Britain and is now under threat.
Chalara dieback of Ash is a serious disease of Ash trees caused by a fungus called Chalara fraxinea. The disease causes leaf loss and crown dieback in affected trees, and it can lead to tree death. Some cases have been found in Britain and is an airborne disease.
The disease has spread through Denmark affecting 90% of the Ash population.
