The small white particles are ash from the Santiago Fire in Southern California. I live a couple miles away, and might have to evacuate. I hope it doesn't come to that.
Removal of Ash Trees in Riverside Park due to Emerald Ash Borer infestation. Not all are dead, but all are dying. Over 50 trees are being removed. New trees will be planted in the future.
Ann Froelich, pastoral associate at St. Matthew Parish in Allouez, gives ashes to 11-month-old Braydyn Mianecki and his mother, Tanya Mianecki, during Ash Wednesday Mass. (Sam Lucero | The Compass)
My pet chinnie, Ash. She's an 18 month-old, hetero ebony cutie (she's much darker than shown in the photos) who loves making mischief. I got her from a local "mom-'n'-pop" pet store, who are reputable for being "pet mill"-free.
My friend and I named Ash after Bruce Campbell's character from the "Evil Dead" series (yes, we're THAT obsessed with horror movies). She enjoys scritches and will sit in your lap for you to pet her, but she HATES being picked up. Eventually, I hope to acquire another female (or neutered male) chin to provide her a new playmate.
Evil Dead 2 Ash Williams by Asmus Toys.
I got this Asmus Ash on ebay last week andbit arrived yesterday evening, and it also came with cat hairs!

Like a Lotus flower i rome the land.
Untouched by the dirt, by the filth, by the pain.
As a soul i look high from above, remembering the ashes and the sorrow i used to dwell and love.
I am a Lotus flower, feet in the ground and head in the clouds.
I am a lotus flower, stock in cement and divine as a god.
. The Lotus flower is famous for being super clean and strong while growing in the hardest dirty and muddy conditions, it's a beautiful metaphor for the originality of the spirit, pure inside while living in the world today which can be a little if not quite dirty!
Hundreds came to St. John Cantius parish to begin the penitential season of Lent. This is a privileged season of grace for the entire Church. It begins the annual solemn preparation for the Easter Mystery which is the culmination of the Church Year.
The Latin name for Lent, Quadragesima, means forty and refers to the forty days Christ spent in the desert which is the origin of the Season.
As happens on every Ash Wednesday, the people receive ashes on their foreheads in the shape of a cross while the priest says, "Remember that thou art dust and unto dust thou shall return." Ashes are a biblical symbol of repentance, sorrow, and humility. It is a fitting beginning to this holy season dedicated to the conversion of our hearts and the need to do acts of penance for ourselves and for the world.

I haven't done an exhaustive review, but I think the ash tree behind our place is the only ash in our part of the neighborhood.
Ash Street School, 4 Ash Street, Green Island District, Worcester, MA.
Built in 1850, two years after Worcester switched from a town to a city, to a design by noted local architect Elbridge Boyden, and was part of a major program by the city to expand its school facilities between 1848 and 1855.
At the time of its construction, the area where it stands was a densely populated neighborhood; it has since been largely redeveloped for industrial uses.
At the time of its listing on the National Register, it was serving as a storehouse. It is presently home to the Greater Worcester Land Trust, a land conservation organization.
