The stone ship at Åsa gravefield in Ytterselö parish on the island Selaön in Strängnäs, Sweden. The gravefield dates back from the iron age and the stone ship called "Åsa domaresäte" is built out of 24 stones.
The Stone ship was a Germanic burial custom, typical of Scandinavia, built from tightly or loosely fit slabs or stones. Sometimes they are of monumental proportions. In Sweden, the size varies from 67 metres (Ale's Stones) to only a few metres. The orientation varies. Inside, they can be cobbled or filled with stones, or have raised stones in the positions of masts. The illusion of being ships has often been reinforced by larger stones in the ends. Some have an oblique aft. Ship settings are often found on grave fields, but sometimes far from any other archaeological remains.
This HDR picture is made from six shots with tripod at EV -2,67, -1,67, -0.67, +0,33, +1,33 and +2,33, software used Dynamic-Photo HDR. Photos are taken with a Canon EOS 500D.

Sunday 1st March was the occasion of the Carabao Cup Final between Manchester City and Aston Villa. This meant a good selection of Midlands and Northern-based coaches came to visit the London stadium.
Visiting coaches included ASA Travel of Stechford Mercedes-Benz Vario O814D / Onyx C24F MX55HXU. This minibus was new to Reid of Newmachar in 2005.
Das Besondere an Åsa Larssons Romanen ist, dass sie ziemlich biografisch gefärbt sind.
Ihre Krimis spielen in der nordschwedischen Stadt Kiruna, wo sie auch selbst aufgewachsen ist. Auch beruflich gibt's eine Verflechtung: Die Protagonistin ihrer Werke, Rebecka Martinsson, ist Anwältin wie sie.
Nach längerer Pause – ihr letzter Band um die Anwältin Rebecka Martinsson erschien 2012 – ist nun 2022 die abschließende Folge dieser Serie erschienen: Wer ohne Sünde ist. Schade – denn die Rebecka-Martinsson-Reihe gehört zu den besten Schweden-Krimis, gleichauf mit denen von Håkan Nesser.
Die Romane wurden übrigens auch unter dem Namen der Hauptfigur erfolgreich verfilmt.
Åsa Larsson wird heute, am 28. Juni 2026, 60 Jahre alt.

British Air Ferries (BAF)

Built in 1962, G-BCWE was the first of three Heralds to join the fleet from Canadian airline Eastern Provincial, arriving at Southend as CF-EPI on 28 January 1975. On 1 January 1979, all BAF’s scheduled services were transferred to British Island Airways with the Heralds flown on a lease basis. Whiskey Echo was later leased to Air UK and Trans Azur Aviation. After a long period standing idle and minus engines on the north apron at SEN, she was restored to service in early 1985 in BAF livery and was leased on a monthly basis to Air Anglia. In 1987 she was purchased by Mike Keegan’s General Aviation Spares and was stored prior to sale as TG-ASA to Aerovias SA, Guatemala, in April 1988, and was withdrawn from use in 1991. She was broken up in Guatemala c2002.
