"White Cave"

39 days / 324 hours

Benaki Museum, Athens.

In this allegory of Plato’s Cave Nancy Stamatopoulou directs her own “spiritual confinement” within a reality composed of everyday objects.

For eight hours each day over the course of seven weeks, the artist will remain within the narrow limits set by the sights of a camera lens, confined inside her own personal “cave” and the shadowy re-enactment of a personal truth. Time passes slowly, like the movement of a turtle. Actions are repetitious, like a punishment. Reality feels remote, the possibility of escape imperceptible.

The Cedar Creek Grist Mill inspires artist from all genre's. I loved this gentlemans painting and told him so, he replied that it was the mill that was beautiful.

Cinema Café (20,153 square feet)

1220 Fordham Drive, KempsRiver Crossing, Virginia Beach, VA

Opened in 2004; originally 1987-built United Artists Theaters KempsRiver Crossing, later Regal Cinemas (2000-mid 2000s)

Once Goonies ended at Regal Strawbridge I drove straight to the KempsRiver Cinema Café to see Sonic the Hedgehog, because why not have a double feature day?! This six screen theater is obviously a little on the smaller side in comparison to Regal and definitely takes on more of an independent old school feel. The lobby seen here was given a few modifications back in 2017, such as adding wood laminate boards to the wall and redoing the ceiling with those brown tiles. The most significant change of all though was the addition of recliners and swivel trays, which were literally just installed during the theater's shutdown, replacing some very uncomfortable looking computer chairs and tabletops. The auditoriums themselves are quite slim and not stadium style, but as I mentioned above add to the old school movie going charm. Also noteworthy are the fabric murals on each side of the screen (I was in room 3 with hot air balloons), which are remnants from the theater’s few years of operation as a Regal!

Title: Dont Give Up On Us

"LYRICS"

Dont give up on us,baby

Dont make the wrong seem right

The future isn't just one night

It's written in the moonlight

And painted on the stars

We cant change ours

Dont give up on us,baby

Were still worth one more try

I know we put our last one by

Just for a rainy evening

When maybe stars are few

Dont give up on us, I know we can still come through

I really lost my head last night

You've got a right to stop believing

There still a little love left, even so

Dont give up on us,baby

Lord knows we've come this far?

Can't we stay the way we are

The angel and the dreamer

Who sometimes plays the fool

Dont give up on us, I know

We can still come through

It's written in the moonlight

And painted on the stars

We can't change ours

Dont give up on us,baby

Were still worth one more try

I know we put our last one by

Just for a rainy evening

When maybe stars are few

Dont give up on us, I know

We can still come through

Dont give up on us, baby 2x

Milana (purple) is helping her best friend Ivy Venom (green) model for her newest masterpiece. Venom is an artist by nature, she is passionate... very passionate about her craft, and she takes care to have everrrry detail matching her vision. Milana is the only one patient enough to put up with her friend's *cough* OCD approach to her art. Having said that, you should see her room, she is a complete slob in everything but this! ;P.

As we all know, Liccas are restless and playful by nature, it's difficult for them to sit for so long. Bless you, dearest Milana ;D

You know, these images are from exactly... August 3rd, 2010. I'm not sure why I never uploaded them but maybe I thought there were too many images. This is where Photoshop comes in handy ;D.

Since these are from so long, I can't even remember what the story was, more than what the images tell me.

This is a life size bronze statue that I photographed in Smithfield, VA. It is Jesus the master artist and creator. I look at nature as a painting of His works. The many values, hues, and composition that He so graciously put together for are viewing pleasure and for the vast resources He provided for our well being. I am a steward of His creation.

Something happened to this roll of film. It is a Lomography 100, but i do not think the brand has anything to do with it. It was not expired. I was shooting under because I thought the film was ISO400 film, but it should not be liked this.

Does anyone know what happened?

I totally dig the painting face gig, and you should too! The theme in MFIMC this week is cooolllllooorrrfulllllll! And the photo inspiration is pretty hip, slick, and cool too!

So I had a pretty rad day today! I went and popped in on my little boy for school lunch :) He had two little girls that were eagerly waiting for him to come out of the lunch line and pick a table so that they could sit down and eat with us. They proceeded to ask me numerous random questions like, "Kristin, who named you that? That's a cool name." and things like how tall are you? Where do you live? Why did you wear a jacket?

It was rad :) And I had planned to stuff carrot sticks or straws up my nose in case the mom coming to school lunch seemed lame...(I'd fix them!)

It's mad late! Hope everyone has a groovy day tomorrow, and you make lots of money, friends, pancakes, smiles, art, joy, and/or all of the above!!
