The Golden Ratio informs a lot of my art and photographic composition. The Golden Ratio also informs the design of the golden revolver on all the swimsuits and lingerie, as well as the 45surf logo! Not so long ago, I came up with the Golden Ratio Principle which describes why The Golden Ratio is so beautiful.
The Golden Number Ratio Principle: Dr. E’s Golden Ratio Principle: The golden ratio exalts beauty because the number is a characteristic of the mathematically and physically most efficient manners of growth and distribution, on both evolutionary and purely physical levels. The golden ratio ensures that the proportions and structure of that which came before provide the proportions and structure of that which comes after. Robust, ordered growth is naturally associated with health and beauty, and thus we evolved to perceive the golden ratio harmonies as inherently beautiful, as we saw and felt their presence in all vital growth and life—in the salient features and proportions of humans and nature alike, from the distribution of our facial features and bones to the arrangements of petals, leaves, and sunflowers seeds. As ratios between Fibonacci Numbers offer the closest whole-number approximations to the golden ratio, and as seeds, cells, leaves, bones, and other physical entities appear in whole numbers, the Fibonacci Numbers oft appear in nature’s elements as “growth’s numbers.” From the dawn of time, humanity sought to salute their gods in art and temples exalting the same proportion by which all their vital sustenance and they themselves had been created—the golden ratio.

May the Hero's Journey Mythology Goddess inspire you (as they have inspired me!) along your own artistic journey! Love, love, love the 70-200mm F/2.8 Lens! Holding it up all day, alongside the Sony NEX 6 with the 50mm F/1.8 lens for cool video bokeh which I have mounted under the Nikon D800E camera, is quite the workout! My shoulders have gotten bigger after so many days with six hour shoots in the AM and 3 hour shoots in the PM holding that rig up :). Plus I have to carry all the gear, books, and clothes a few hundred yards up and down the steep cliffs. I count my photography days as two workout days. :) But I love it! Every day presents a puzzle--how to figure out the light, and every model presents a mystery to be unlocked--what are her best angles/poses/actions? Nothing beats the challenge of capturing the natural beauty of a day out there, when the light's dynamic range can change by a factor of ten in a few minutes as the mist burns away to reveal the sun, and then the wind whips up and a fog rolls on in, making it seem like a windy December dusk in July. One must always be mindful of tide, times, and temperatures and work quickly before the cameras get too hot in the sun, or the model gets too cold in the wind, as the tide and rogue waves reach out to grab your equipment/props/clothes and claim them for Poseidon, the god of the sea . Beach photography/video is just like surfing, with the conditions always changing and every wave a bit different. Studio photography is like riding an exercise bike set at level 1 in a gym in front of a TV. And shooting stills and video @ the same time is like Jimmy Page or Slash improvising on his double-necked guitar.
I'm working on a book called "Lone Cowboy Photography: A Humble Hero's Journey into the Art of Photography" about how to shoot it all on your own--stills and video for sports, portraits, and landscapes--with no assistants nor teams. Just you and the goddesses, the heroic athletes, the majestic, epic landscapes, and a copy of Homer's Iliad and Odyssey to teach you of the poetry of epic, heroic beauty. You gotta be ready, son--you gotta be ready for quick-draw showdowns at sunrise and sunset, during the magic hours and in the harsh light at high noon. Every shoot is over the second you finish packing your bags for the day with all your batteries, backup cameras, freshly-cleaned lenses, washed and folded clothes and hoodies, and props and polarizer filters. Every shoot ends the second the prep is over, and the fun, and art, and life of the live performance begins. :) "Every fighter has a plan," said boxing great Mike Tyson, "Until they get hit."

The blue-eyed goddess was modeling the gold 45 revolver gold'n'virtue bikini with the famous golden gun/colt 45 revolver from my favorite film--Sergio Leone's and Clint Eastwood's "Fistful of Dollars!"
Combine the shallow-depth-of-field with Sony NEX-6's latest face-tracking auto focus, and you can see how the moving video keeps the model's pretty blue eyes in focus, while blurring the background! The Sony Alpha NEX 6 has much better bokeh than the cameras I have been using! :)

Elegant Catherine Deneuve (1943) is an icon of the French cinema who graces the screen for already more than five decades. She gained recognition in the 1960s for her portrayal of cool, mysterious beauties in classic films of directors like Luis Buñuel, Roman Polanski and François Truffaut. Apart from a great actress, she is also an archetype for Gallic beauty. From 1985 to 1989, she succeeded Brigitte Bardot as the model for the national symbol Marianne, seen on French coins and stamps.
Catherine Deneuve was born Catherine Fabienne Dorléac in 1943, in Paris, France. She was the third of four daughters to the stage actors Maurice Dorléac and Renée Deneuve (who was the French voice of Esther Williams, and whose name Catherine uses). Her sisters were actress Françoise Dorléac, Sylvie Dorléac and Danielle Dorléac. When Catherine was 13 she had the opportunity to play in Les Collégiennes/The Twilight Girls (1956, André Hunebelle) during the summer school holidays with her sister Sylvie, and she accepted because she was curious to see how a film was made. She continued with small parts in minor films, until she met Roger Vadim, the former husband of Brigitte Bardot. Stunning and only 17 years old, Deneuve and the 32 years old Vadim began romancing. She dyed her naturally brown hair to blonde to please Vadim, who gave her a leading part in the Marquis de Sade adaptation Le vice et la vertu/Vice and Virtue (1963, Roger Vadim). Her breakthrough came the next year with the musical Les parapluies de Cherbourg/The Umbrellas of Cherbourg (1964, Jacques Demy) in which she gave an unforgettable performance as a romantic middle-class girl who falls in love with a young soldier but gets imprisoned in a loveless marriage with another man. The gifted Demy also cast Deneuve in the less successful Les demoiselles de Rochefort/The Young Girls of Rochefort (1967, Jacques Demy), with her elder sister, Françoise Dorléac. That year Françoise would die in a fatal car crash on the French Riviera. only 25 years old. The sisters were extremely close and Deneuve was devastated.
Catherine Deneuve had had her English speaking film debut in Polanski’s shocking psychological thriller Repulsion (1965, Roman Polanski). She delivered a creepy performance, as Carol, a sexually repressed, paranoid schizophrenic, whose descent into madness results with her murdering men who lust after her. She was again a sensation as a bored housewife who fulfills her sexual fantasies while working as an afternoon call girl in Buñuel’s masterpiece Belle de jour/Beauty of the Day (1967, Luis Buñuel). She also worked with the Spanish director in Tristana (1970, Luis Buñuel), in which she portrayed again an innocent beauty exploited by a lecherous older man, played by Fernando Rey. Unlike in Belle de jour, this time her character achieved independence and eventually exacted revenge on the man who exploited her. The film garnered an Academy Award nomination for Best Foreign Language Film. She gave another great performance in a dual role in La sirène du Mississipi/Mississipi Mermaid (1969, François Truffaut), a kind of apotheosis of her ‘beautiful ice maiden’ persona. She had a relationship with Truffaut, and when their relationship failed, Truffaut reportedly had a nervous breakdown.
Catherine Deneuve was the muse of fashion designer Yves Saint-Laurent, who dressed her for Belle de jour, La chamade/Heartbeat (1968, Alain Cavalier), La sirène du Mississipi, Un flic/A Cop (1972, Jean-Pierre Melville), Liza (1972, Marco Ferreri) and The Hunger (1983, Tony Scott). She was the face of Chanel No. 5 in the 1970’s and caused sales of the perfume to soar. In the USA, the press nominated her as the world's most elegant woman. She appeared in two American movies, the comedy The April Fools (1969, Stuart Rosenberg) opposite Jack Lemmon, and the crime drama Hustle (1975, Robert Aldrich) with Burt Reynolds. She remained active in European films during the 1970s, but she didn't find parts of the same caliber as her roles of the 1960’s. She made five films together with Marcello Mastroianni: Ça n'arrive qu'aux autres/It Only Happens to Others (1971, Nadine Trintignant), Liza (1972, Marco Ferreri), L'événement le plus important depuis que l'homme a marché sur la lune/A Slightly Pregnant Man (1973, Jacques Demy), Touche pas à la femme blanche/Don't Touch the White Woman! (1974, ), and Les cent et une nuits de Simon Cinéma/A Hundred and One Nights of Simon Cinema (1995, Agnès Varda). She played a magnificent role in Le dernier métro/The Last Metro (1980, François Truffaut) as a stage actress in Nazi-occupied Paris. It was the first of six films in which she starred opposite Gérard Depardieu. For her performance she won a César Award, and the film, which won an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film, revived her international career. Deneuve played a bisexual vampire in the slick The Hunger (1983, Tony Scott), with David Bowie and Susan Sarandon. The role brought her a significant lesbian following. Her appearance in the romantic thriller, Le Lieu de crime/Scene of the Crime (1986, André Techiné), with Danielle Darrieux, was also well received.
Catherine Deneuve has never performed in the theatre due to stage fright. However she is universally hailed as one of the ‘grandes dames’ of the French cinema, joining Michèle Morgan, Danielle Darrieux, Simone Signoret, Jeanne Moreau, Isabelle Huppert, and Juliette Binoche. In the 1990’s Deneuve continued to appear in a large number of films She was very good in the epic drama Indochine/Indochina (1992, Regis Warnier) as a plantation owner in the 1930’s, for which role she earned her first Academy Award Nominaton and second César Award. She starred in several films by André Téchiné, Ma saison préférée/My Favorite Season (1993) and Les Voleurs/The Thieves (1995), with Daniel Auteuil. She joined the documentary L'Univers de Jacques Demy (1995,Agnès Varda), to show tribute to the director who made the film that brought her to fame. In 1998, she won acclaim and the Volpi Cup at the Venice Film Festival for her performance as a jeweler s widow in Place Vendôme (1998, Nicole Garcia) and in 1999 she appeared in five films, Est-Ouest/East-West (1999, Régis Wargnier), Le temps retrouvé/Marcel Proust's Time Regained (1999, Raoul Ruiz), Pola X (1999, Leos Carax), Belle-maman/Beautiful Mother (1999, Gabriel Aghion), and Le vent de la nuit/The Wind of the Night (1999, Philippe Garrel).
Catherine Deneuve surprised everyone with her portrayal as the factory worker sidekick of Icelandic singer Bjork in the melancholy musical Dancer in the Dark (2000, Lars von Trier). She had seen Von Trier’s Breaking the Waves (1996) and was so impressed with the Danish director; that she wrote him a letter requesting a part in one of his upcoming projects. He obliged, and her performance provided further proof that she was much more than a pretty face, and had always been. Though it polarized critics and audiences alike, the film was selected for the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival. In 2002, she shared the Silver Bear Award for Best Ensemble Cast at the Berlin International Film Festival for her performance in 8 Femmes/8 Women (2002, François Ozon). Deneuve's only marriage was from 1965 to 1972 with British photographer David Bailey. The couple divorced in 1972 but remained friends. She has had relationships with Roger Vadim, François Truffaut, Marcello Mastroianni, and Canal+ tycoon Pierre Lescure. Deneuve has two children: actor Christian Vadim (1963), from her relationship with Roger Vadim, and Chiara Mastroianni (1972), from her relationship with Marcello Mastroianni. She is now the grandmother of Anna (2003) and Milo (1997). In 2005 she published her diary A l'ombre de moi-meme/Close Up and Personal: The Private Diaries of Catherine Deneuve, in which she writes about her experiences shooting the films Indochine, and Dancer in the Dark. At the unheard of age of 62, she signed a deal with Mac Cosmetics in 2006, and a year later, nabbed a contract modeling for Louis Vuitton. She voiced the mother in Persepolis (2007 Vincent Paronnaud, Marjane Satrapi); an animated film based on Satrapi´s graphic novel of the same name. Her daughter Chiara Mastroianni voiced the anti-Disney heroine, a rebellious, teenaged Iranian girl who loves heavy metal. The edgy animated feature was nominated for an Academy Award. In 2008, Catherine Deneuve appeared in her 100th film, Un conte de Noël/A Christmas Tale (2008, Arnaud Desplechin). She resides in the luxurious neighbourhood of Saint Germain des Pres in Paris, and continues to work steadily making at least two or three films per year.

Commentary.
In a similar way to the influence of Sissinghurst Gardens,
Great Dixter’s evolution has had a profound effect
on the wider development of English Country Gardens.
The flower borders, here, are quite spectacular.
Mature trees, extensive lawns and borders ranging from Dahlias and Pampas Grass to Chrysanthemum to Bamboo.
There is also present orchards and wild flower meadows to attract pollinating insects.
In a sheltered part of the estate there is even a tropical area with New Zealand Cabbage Palms, Date Palms, Yuccas and Banana plants.
The house itself is mostly 15th. Century and is half-timbered,
with an enormous porch and leaded windows.
The site is now owned and managed by the National Trust
and is something of a horticultural showground that is very impressive indeed.

Here is some epic video I shot of the gorgeous goddess at the same time as the stills with the Sony Alpha A7R camera with the 50 mm F/1.8 prime lens for nex6 e mount cameras bracketed to my Nikon D800E (cool bokeh!):
The blue-eyed goddess was modeling the gold 45 revolver gold'n'virtue bikini with the famous golden gun/colt 45 revolver from my favorite film--Sergio Leone's and Clint Eastwood's "Fistful of Dollars!"
Combine the shallow-depth-of-field with Sony NEX-6's latest face-tracking auto focus, and you can see how the moving video keeps the model's pretty blue eyes in focus, while blurring the background! The Sony Alpha NEX 6 has much better bokeh than the cameras I have been using! :)
She was tall, thin, fit, toned, defined, and beautiful!

Nikon D800E Photos of a Pretty Swimsuit Bikini Model Goddess in Modeling Gold 45 Revolver Gold'N'Virtue Swimsuits & Lingerie with the famous golden gun! She had pretty blue-green-grey-hazel eyes--the colors kept changing! The Colt 45 Revolver comes directly form Clint Eastwood's/Sergio Leone's Fistful of Dollars--my favorite Western--heck my favorite all-time film, exalting the classical, archetypal themes I seek in all my photography! The goddess is standing in front of the 45surf summer beach house!
She was tall, thin, pretty, and fit with gorgeous hazel-blue-green eyes and long, long legs! Shot with the new D800E and my favorite workhorse lens the very sharp Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8G ED VR II AF-S Nikkor Zoom Lens. A slight change of pace for all my flickr fans!

May the Hero's Journey Mythology Goddess inspire you (as they have inspired me!) along your own artistic journey! Love, love, love the 70-200mm F/2.8 Lens! Holding it up all day, alongside the Sony NEX 6 with the 50mm F/1.8 lens for cool video bokeh which I have mounted under the Nikon D800E camera, is quite the workout! My shoulders have gotten bigger after so many days with six hour shoots in the AM and 3 hour shoots in the PM holding that rig up :). Plus I have to carry all the gear, books, and clothes a few hundred yards up and down the steep cliffs. I count my photography days as two workout days. :) But I love it! Every day presents a puzzle--how to figure out the light, and every model presents a mystery to be unlocked--what are her best angles/poses/actions? Nothing beats the challenge of capturing the natural beauty of a day out there, when the light's dynamic range can change by a factor of ten in a few minutes as the mist burns away to reveal the sun, and then the wind whips up and a fog rolls on in, making it seem like a windy December dusk in July. One must always be mindful of tide, times, and temperatures and work quickly before the cameras get too hot in the sun, or the model gets too cold in the wind, as the tide and rogue waves reach out to grab your equipment/props/clothes and claim them for Poseidon, the god of the sea . Beach photography/video is just like surfing, with the conditions always changing and every wave a bit different. Studio photography is like riding an exercise bike set at level 1 in a gym in front of a TV. And shooting stills and video @ the same time is like Jimmy Page or Slash improvising on his double-necked guitar.
I'm working on a book called "Lone Cowboy Photography: A Humble Hero's Journey into the Art of Photography" about how to shoot it all on your own--stills and video for sports, portraits, and landscapes--with no assistants nor teams. Just you and the goddesses, the heroic athletes, the majestic, epic landscapes, and a copy of Homer's Iliad and Odyssey to teach you of the poetry of epic, heroic beauty. You gotta be ready, son--you gotta be ready for quick-draw showdowns at sunrise and sunset, during the magic hours and in the harsh light at high noon. Every shoot is over the second you finish packing your bags for the day with all your batteries, backup cameras, freshly-cleaned lenses, washed and folded clothes and hoodies, and props and polarizer filters. Every shoot ends the second the prep is over, and the fun, and art, and life of the live performance begins. :) "Every fighter has a plan," said boxing great Mike Tyson, "Until they get hit."

The Golden Ratio informs a lot of my art and photographic composition. The Golden Ratio also informs the design of the golden revolver on all the swimsuits and lingerie, as well as the 45surf logo! Not so long ago, I came up with the Golden Ratio Principle which describes why The Golden Ratio is so beautiful.
The Golden Number Ratio Principle: Dr. E’s Golden Ratio Principle: The golden ratio exalts beauty because the number is a characteristic of the mathematically and physically most efficient manners of growth and distribution, on both evolutionary and purely physical levels. The golden ratio ensures that the proportions and structure of that which came before provide the proportions and structure of that which comes after. Robust, ordered growth is naturally associated with health and beauty, and thus we evolved to perceive the golden ratio harmonies as inherently beautiful, as we saw and felt their presence in all vital growth and life—in the salient features and proportions of humans and nature alike, from the distribution of our facial features and bones to the arrangements of petals, leaves, and sunflowers seeds. As ratios between Fibonacci Numbers offer the closest whole-number approximations to the golden ratio, and as seeds, cells, leaves, bones, and other physical entities appear in whole numbers, the Fibonacci Numbers oft appear in nature’s elements as “growth’s numbers.” From the dawn of time, humanity sought to salute their gods in art and temples exalting the same proportion by which all their vital sustenance and they themselves had been created—the golden ratio.

Here is some epic video I shot of the gorgeous goddess at the same time as the stills with the Sony Alpha A7R camera with the 50 mm F/1.8 prime lens for nex6 e mount cameras bracketed to my Nikon D800E (cool bokeh!):
The blue-eyed goddess was modeling the gold 45 revolver gold'n'virtue bikini with the famous golden gun/colt 45 revolver from my favorite film--Sergio Leone's and Clint Eastwood's "Fistful of Dollars!"
Combine the shallow-depth-of-field with Sony NEX-6's latest face-tracking auto focus, and you can see how the moving video keeps the model's pretty blue eyes in focus, while blurring the background! The Sony Alpha NEX 6 has much better bokeh than the cameras I have been using! :)

Bellis perennis (Dutch: Madeliefje) is a common European species of daisy, of the Asteraceae family, often considered the archetypal species of that name. Many related plants also share the name "daisy", so to distinguish this species from other daisies it is sometimes qualified as common daisy, lawn daisy or English daisy.
This is what we saw during our Bicycle tours in the Netherlands, where we have cycled through the beautiful landscape.

Ralph Waldo Emerson. The happiest man is he who learns from nature the lesson of worship.
Since in Islam the revelation came in the form of a sacred book, many Muslim sages have looked upon nature as a book of God, as did many of their Jewish and Christian counterparts.
The cosmos is in fact God's first and primordial revelation. There is an eternal and archetypal Quran, which is the archetype of both the book revealed to the Prophet of Islam as the Quran and the cosmos, which many Sufis in fact call the cosmic Quran. In the same way that each letter, word, and sentence of the Quran revealed in Arabic comes from God and conveys a message from Him, each phenomenon of nature is also a sign from Heaven.
In fact, in the Quran both the phenomena of nature and the verses of the Quran are called ayat, or symbols and signs, each conveying a meaning beyond itself. Every ayah, besides its outward meaning, has a symbolic and inward significance.
Every cosmic phenomenon is both a fact and a symbol of a noumenon. In a profound sense modern science, being concerned with phenomena only as facts and not as symbols of noumena, is like religious literalism in the interpretation of scripture. Sufism has always rejected both kinds of literalism and has provided over the centuries both esoteric interpretations of the Quran and the most profound "philosophy of nature" based on esoteric commentary upon the cosmic book.
This "philosophy of nature" is of the utmost significance in this day and age when, because of sheer outwardness and literalism in both science and much of religion, we human beings have become destroyers of nature rather than its protectors and channels of grace. The inner meaning of the cosmic book has become hidden from us.
Sufis contemplate nature, seeing in its forms, life, and rhythms spiritual realities that are of the greatest importance not only in themselves but also for us as wayfarers on the path to spiritual perfection.
For the sage every tree is a reflection of the tree of Paradise, every mountain a symbol of transcendence, the water of every flowing stream a symbol of Divine Mercy, the wind a mark of the Spirit. The eagle flying above symbolizes the human spirit perfected through spiritual practice flying to the Divine Throne, and the fish swimming in the deep is the symbol of the soul immersing itself in the ocean of Infinitude.
The universe is constituted of theophanies; the cosmos is a set of symbols to be contemplated and a means to reach the Symbolized, a book to be read and understood in both its outward and inward meanings.
Once one has read the cosmic book, one can set it aside and stand before the Author of the Book of Existence. One of the meanings of the Quranic reference to the scrolls being rolled up at the end of time is precisely the end to the reading of the book of nature for the Sufi who, having passed beyond the cosmos, experiences death to the world and resurrection in the Spirit, that is, his or her own eschaton.

The Golden Ratio informs a lot of my art and photographic composition. The Golden Ratio also informs the design of the golden revolver on all the swimsuits and lingerie, as well as the 45surf logo! Not so long ago, I came up with the Golden Ratio Principle which describes why The Golden Ratio is so beautiful.
The Golden Number Ratio Principle: Dr. E’s Golden Ratio Principle: The golden ratio exalts beauty because the number is a characteristic of the mathematically and physically most efficient manners of growth and distribution, on both evolutionary and purely physical levels. The golden ratio ensures that the proportions and structure of that which came before provide the proportions and structure of that which comes after. Robust, ordered growth is naturally associated with health and beauty, and thus we evolved to perceive the golden ratio harmonies as inherently beautiful, as we saw and felt their presence in all vital growth and life—in the salient features and proportions of humans and nature alike, from the distribution of our facial features and bones to the arrangements of petals, leaves, and sunflowers seeds. As ratios between Fibonacci Numbers offer the closest whole-number approximations to the golden ratio, and as seeds, cells, leaves, bones, and other physical entities appear in whole numbers, the Fibonacci Numbers oft appear in nature’s elements as “growth’s numbers.” From the dawn of time, humanity sought to salute their gods in art and temples exalting the same proportion by which all their vital sustenance and they themselves had been created—the golden ratio.

Here are both of my Bootleg Archetype He figma guys painted up. Definitely the smallest customs I’ve painted so far. After buying the flesh tone version and painting him up I decided he should get a boyfriend but I wasn’t willing to pay any more than like… $15 so I chose the grey version that was offered.
Unfortunately the grey one has two right feet but the price was small enough that I didn’t really care.
Since I wanted this guy to look as different as possible I sculpted some hair and tried painting an expression that was completely different to my first one while working with the pouty face sculpt.
I’m pretty happy for two little buff figures that pose like champs.

Bellis perennis is a common European species of daisy, of the Asteraceae family, often considered the archetypal species of that name.
Many related plants also share the name "daisy", so to distinguish this species from other daisies it is sometimes qualified as common daisy, lawn daisy or English daisy. Historically, it has also been commonly known as bruisewort and occasionally woundwort (although the common name woundwort is now more closely associated with Stachys (woundworts)). Bellis perennis is native to western, central and northern Europe, but widely naturalised in most temperate regions including the Americas and Australasia.
It is an herbaceous perennial plant with short creeping rhizomes and rosettes of small rounded or spoon-shaped leaves that are from 3/4 to 2 inches (approx. 2–5 cm) long and grow flat to the ground. The species habitually colonises lawns, and is difficult to eradicate by mowing - hence the term 'lawn daisy'. Wherever it appears it is often considered an invasive weed.
The flowerheads are composite, in the form of a pseudanthium, consisting of many sessile flowers about 3/4 to 1-1/4 in (approx. 2–3 cm) in diameter, with white ray florets (often tipped red) and yellow disc florets. Each inflorescence is borne on single leafless stems 3/4 - 4 in (approx. 2–10 cm), rarely 6 in (approx. 15 cm) tall. The capitulum, or disc of florets, is surrounded by two rows of green bracts.

The blue-eyed goddess was modeling the gold 45 revolver gold'n'virtue bikini with the famous golden gun/colt 45 revolver from my favorite film--Sergio Leone's and Clint Eastwood's "Fistful of Dollars!"
Combine the shallow-depth-of-field with Sony NEX-6's latest face-tracking auto focus, and you can see how the moving video keeps the model's pretty blue eyes in focus, while blurring the background! The Sony Alpha NEX 6 has much better bokeh than the cameras I have been using! :)
