A foto foi sacada por Foto Sergio no ano 1964. Sergio, o único fotógrafo de Burela durante moitos anos, veu da parte de Ribadeo e chegou a Burela para exercer de perruqueiro, despois foi xoieiro e traspasou a xoería a “Pikos” que estivo funcionando ata hai un par de meses. Era a xoería Pikmar, que está situada en Eijo Garay á altura de onde se encontraba o cine Mon. Sergio casou con Josefa do Valiente, nativa de Burela e fíxose fotográfo.
Esta foto foi tomada nas escolas vellas, a primeira escola que se construíu en Burela. As mulleres traballaban na conserveira local, cosían, traballaban as terras, coidaban o gando... durante o día. Polas noites ían ás clases do mestre Enrique Peinó, estudaban para mellorar nos seus postos de traballo. Na foto podemos ver os tinteiros coas plumas cargando para poder escribir, os típicos pupitres da época, as xanelas que servían tamén de percheiros.
Na foto distinguimos na fila de atrás a Carmen e a Elvira do Campaneiro. Na fila de diante está Nelucha do Cuiño, coñecida na vila por rexentar unha zapatería durante moitos anos na Avenida Arcadio Pardiñas. A outra muller é descoñecida para nós. Na foto tamén vemos o profesor Enrique Peinó, que ademais foi o fundador da primeira biblioteca municipal que se encontraba na subida de Eijo Garay, ao lado de onde está hoxe a estación de autobuses.
O meu parentesco é con Elvira do Campaneiro, tía do meu pai.
