Ornamental Salix, our garden. Shot after dark with on board flash and manual focus because I apparently don't follow the easy route... There's someone I follow on Flickr who does this type of shot with consummate ease. Thank you Catherine Sienko.

Can someone please explain to Freddie this is not the “All You Can Eat Chinese Buffet”. I’m not going to be the one to disappoint him, I just found out he can read…

Only completed this summer, the 3 year project was to fortify (re-dress) 3 km of the shoreline on the side of the island facing the River Thames and the shipping lanes. Without this the sea wall that stands behind me would have been in danger of losing its foundations due to erosion from tides and bow waves.

The Relationship

The first winters snowfall at one of my fave locations not too far from Leadhills. As everyone knows I always love a lone tree, I have photographed this one before, but it is the relationship between this one and the group in the distance that makes the image for me...perhaps it says more about me and my photography:) who knows.

I had to be out this way this evening and thought I might just catch the sun starting to sink into the west over the Thames Estuary. Oh, those tones...!

Pretty much SooC exposure with just a raw file development in Affinity Photo.

A couple of days camping in the Lakes with some forum friends, some of the colours were just superb. This just reminds me of the colours of some of my favourite sweets when I was a youngster.

And more power to them. Making the best use of land once scarred by human trash. Come on down...!

The latest purchase. They like warm dry climates with free draining soil. And that's exactly what they're getting! 😎

Do you remember Spring? I do. When I was shooting bluebells back in April I thought I might keep one back for the winter. Well it's winter somewhere in the world so let's put this out there. Enjoy!

An early mist comes to the hills above Corringham signalling a return to warm, sunny weather. But before that I have obligations. I hope I have met them adequately. (If you know, you know)...

Common Inkcap mushroom which by my guess is going to blow black liquid very soon. Deliquescence of course...what a wonderful word for which I must thank wheres_bruce for bringing to my attention.

Absolutely not a purist's macro, a 70-200 lens I had on to capture er...something else. No creative lighting and just about SooC*.

(*Tamed the green a bit and cut a 7:5 crop to set the mushroom off centre)

Early morning shot of this strange bridge which looks like it goes nowhere during hide tide.

Golden Slumbers

Living along the Thames Estuary I'm practically surrounded by reedbeds so I simply must photograph them from time to time. And here in the early morning sun I saw this scene. It's practically sepia. Not from any manipulation by my hands though, just the sun filtered through the reeds. All I did was drop the raw file into Affinity Photo, made the smallest uplift to the shadow and hit "develop". Enjoy it with me...

At last I found some poppies... spotted them from the top of a double decker bus! Drove back that evening ... they were not all in great shape so this is nowhere near what i wanted to get... but... I will look for them next year.

I couldn’t resist another Tolkien reference. This is the first thought that came to mind when I reviewed this image. Not that it’s much of a haven any more. Ships now pass on by up river to Tilbury, or out towards the European ports. I like this so much I might post the original colour edition in a day or two. There’s the greens, browns and reds to enjoy. Decisions decisions…
