The palace was built using the stones of the former Coronation Cathedral of the Virgin Mary Provost Church. The building lasted more than twenty years which explains why Louis Seize style ornaments appeared on the mainly baroque building.

The architect of the palace was Jakab Riedel and it had become one of the most significant Louis Seize style building in Hungary. On the facade the bishop's coat-of arms can be seen. Its furniture is Empire and Biedermeier style. The library contains 40000 volumes- codices, incunables. The palace garden reaches the castlewall hiding the unexplored parts of the Coronation Basilica.

Grabbed a chance at what appears to be a sunset as there have been a couple of red ones recently , but missed them . In fact this is three in the afternoon and sunset was not for a while yet - but it will have to do !!

Finally some sun appeared.......

Hollyhocks were everywhere in this small village, appearing to just sprout from the rocks.

A sunbeam, in meteorological optics, is a beam of sunlight that appears to radiate from the position of the Sun. Shining through openings in clouds or between other objects such as mountains, buildings, or trees, as here, these beams of particle-scattered sunlight are essentially parallel shafts separated by darker shadowed volumes. Their apparent convergence in the sky is a visual illusion from linear perspective. The same illusion causes the apparent convergence of parallel lines on a long straight road or hallway at a distant vanishing point. The scattering particles that make sunlight visible may be air molecules or particulates.

This scene is at Crabtree Plantation which was originally part of the Hackwood Estate near Basingstoke. Evidence of the historical significance of this site can still be seen in the Bolton Arch, the main entrance to Crabtree. The woodland is a mixture of oak, horse chestnut, sycamore and ash, with many informal footpaths. The grassland is managed for flowering plants.

Crabtree is an important site for butterflies due to its south facing position, woodland and grassland habitat. The elms are particularly important as a resting and breeding place for the beautiful and rare White Letter Hairstreak. Each summer a local resident and a member of the Butterfly Conservation carries out a regular survey of the site.

Junior appears to be looking at the length of the horns on the head honcho and wondering if his horns will every get that large. It’s going to take him a while, but he does have a good start. A young Texas Longhorn walks toward me in a pasture in the southern part of Harris County.

This Tennessee Warbler appears a bit bedraggled in the midst of bathing, but once this important maintenance behaviour was completed the bird perched on a small branch to dry off and preen. This scene took place in Confederation Park, Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

The mountain scene was serene until an ape appeared on the top. I quickly took the picture, and he was gone. No one believes me that he was really there, but pictures don't lie - they just show us what we want to see. What do you see? If you want to see an ape up there you will. Easy as that.

It would appear that, as the title states I have a passion for the posts at the Uphill end of Weston Supper Mare beach. Whatever the weather they help to make the beach an amazing photographic subject.

This appears to be the 61st photo of Hobart I have posted on Flickr

My Dad took this shot of Extra 712 West at Newberry on August 16, 1986. Lighting was poor but I thought it was pretty neat after looking at it awhile with the Conductor heading for the power with a lunch to go for his crew from Timber Charlie's Restaurant & Bar which is just west of the M-123 crossing that's behind Dad in this shot. 712 and 4418 have 13 cars and will soon be off for the next stop which appears to be Munising Junction by the trains make up. Much work done in Lightroom/Photoshop to bring this Thirty Thursday submission.

My garden is usually full of daisies this time of year. Wonder why the delay?

Male Wood Duck appears to be almost back to breeding colors after the Summer molt..

This cat has recently appeared in the neighbourhood and has been unsuccessfully stalking the bird feeders we keep in the backyard.

Today was a bit hilarious to watch, we got a bunch of freezing rain overnight so today the cat was sliding around while trying to 'stalk' the pigeons.

The pigeons flew away with ease while the cat tried to get a grip on the slick snow and ice.

Hope everyone is doing well and staying safe.

They say she appears only when winter grows weary of pretending to be gentle.

Her gown is woven from frost and fallen snow, her mask carved from ice so precise it knows the exact shape of secrets. Behind intricate filigree, her eyes hold the weight of a thousand silent storms.

No one knows who she was before the cold claimed her—or if she was ever anything but winter incarnate. Some say she's a warning. Others, a wish made by someone who wanted to feel nothing at all.

She moves through the forest without sound, leaving only questions in her wake.

What transforms a woman into a season?

And can she ever thaw?

After tramping for two days on Mount Taranaki, the cloud finally cleared for this reveal just before sunset. Taken from Holly Hut on the Pouakai Crossing. I am intrigued by that very large slab-like structure near the top on the right - it looks like it may collapse at any time! Be great if anyone knows what this feature is called? (Update: I think it's called the Turtle)

"Egmont National Park is a mountainous area that encompasses three volcanic cones. The main peak of Mount Taranaki (2,518 m) forms the nucleus of the park. It is the most recent and only active volcanic peak in the park, although it is now considered dormant. Because it is considered one of the most symmetrical mountains in the world, it is a very distinctive landmark. The other two volcanic cones, which are now extinct, form the basis of the Pouakai and Kaitake Ranges in the north-western part of the park." www.doc.govt.nz/parks-and-recreation/places-to-go/taranak...

it appeared this morning that i'd been mysteriously gifted with a cow -- turns out she's an escapee from a nearby ranch -- she apparently hops over a 4-foot fence to get out!

Completed in 1880, the Point No Point light is the oldest lighthouse in Washington State. Point No Point got its name from the fact that it appears less prominent as ships draw near than from farther away. It is located near Hansville, at the northeast tip of Kitsap County, WA. The light was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.

We are usually impressed by something big – be it a mighty building, a tall person, or simply an oversized pizza. The big picture asserts itself, takes up space, and demands attention. It appears powerful, loud, and impressive.

But the big picture never stands alone. Beneath its wheels lie countless small stones, inconspicuous and easily overlooked. Each one seems insignificant on its own – and yet together they bear the weight.

The small whispers where the big picture thunders. It lies in the details, in the silence, in the everyday. Without the many small things, the big picture would have no support.

Appearing like a volcano, this tree stump had me returning for the light. Three times I came back to this place after recognizing the potential. Each day the light would rim the stump but not give what I was looking for. On the final attempt, the light leaked from between the trees. However, it only lit one side. Off I went to enjoy the forest trek only to return for another attempt. This time the light delivered.

At its peak, the rim was lit all around, giving the desired look. The spotted light all about it worked out well to support the main subject, so it too was included. Sometimes, a little persistence goes a long way.

This contraption looks much like an F7B with a snow blower attached to the front.

This was definitely the most unique piece of snow removal equipment that I have photographed. For others you may wish to peruse my "Plow Extra" album www.flickr.com/photos/john_leopard/albums/72157674866198057

In addition the details of this epic trip were documented in my article that appeared in the May 1997 issue of CTC Board.

Serving coffee and all sorts of refreshments or wine and beer, the Lisbon „quiosques“ are cultural and social hubs in Lisbon since the 1860's and appear in Art Nouveau or Art Deco styles.

A tan-coloured coastal wolf cub, born in the spring, so around 4 months old, walking through the shore grass along a small tidal stream, NE Hecate Strait, BC. She also had a black sibling. Photo taken with a long lens by waiting quietly for hours for the wolves to appear (or not) so their natural behaviour was not affected.

Sucky, washed out colors courtesy of about a million western wildfires that have made St. Louis and just about the entire continental US appear to have a permanent overcast. I'll have to try this again when blue skies are back, probably after the election.

Captured this afternoon as the sun was about to set here in Baltimore.

Ex Canadian Pacific GMD SW1200RS now calls Kindred, ND home. A nice home it is with what appears to be a decent engine house in the background. Most elevator critters don't have such luxury. She now is CHSX 8133, owned by CHS Dakota Plains AG Co-Op, for which work is being performed as I took this photo. The RRV&W line to Casselton is in the foreground. A pair of their SD70MAC's will pass by going north to drop cars at Davenport. On the return they'll pick up this loaded grain train. Unfortunately, I'll be stuck in mud thicker than I'm standing in and miss the southbound run of the MAC's.

This female Orchard oriole appeared with the male later in the day. They are the smallest of the oriole family. I saw this gal in the pond's stream but liked her pose in the Maple tree with the green background better. The Cornell Labs says these are a later migrant and leave earlier so I may have missed the Baltimores this year.

The city appears in the historical record dating back in 1336 by its medieval Greek name Argyrókastro as part of the Byzantine Empire. It first developed in the hill where the Gjirokastër Fortress is located. In this period, Gjirokastër was contested between the Despotate of Epirus and the Albanian clan of Zenebishi under Gjon Zenebishi who made it his capital in 1417. It was taken by the Ottomans in 1418, a year after's Gjon's death and it became the seat of the Sanjak of Albania. Throughout the Ottoman era, Gjirokastër was officially known in Ottoman Turkish as Ergiri and also Ergiri Kasrı. During the Ottoman period conversions to Islam and an influx of Muslim converts from the surrounding countryside made Gjirokastër go from being an overwhelmingly Christian city in the 16th century into one with a large Muslim population by the early 19th century. Gjirokastër also became a major religious centre for Bektashi Sufism.

Taken by the Hellenic Army during the Balkan Wars of 1912–1913, Gjirokastër was eventually incorporated into the newly independent state of Albania in 1913. The local Greek population rebelled and established the short-lived Autonomous Republic of Northern Epirus in 1914 with Gjirokastër as its capital. During the communist period, Gjirokastër was designated a "museum city" due to its architectural heritage.

Gjirokastër is the birthplace of former Albanian communist leader Enver Hoxha.

The dragonflies appeared after about 15mins on the edge of the pond but each time the emperor settled the male chaser would chase it away so no chance of a closer shot. I saw a couple of black-tailed skimmers but they never stopped.

Many thanks to you ALL for the views, faves and comments you make on my shots it is very appreciated

This beautiful dragonfly appears to be an immature Blue Dasher (Pachydiplax longipennis). This individual was living in early May at Jones Lake State Park in North Carolina and was a fantastic model for the camera. During the photo session, we witnessed the animal hunting and eating a number of flying insects. This animal seems to prefer to perch on this stick as it waited to identify prey insects passing by.

Taken for this weeks Smile on Saturday theme: "EGG-CELLENT"!

I have never used the little egg cup that comes with my Royal Doulton Bunnykins china set. I dunno why not, maybe because when I was a little kid the thought of hard boiled eggs grossed me out (the same with over easy and undercooked eggs lol) and so I kept it simple and stuck with eating scrambled eggs only. So, in honour of Easter I decided to take it out and photograph it as part of today's SoS theme shot. :)

I have three sets of the Bunnykins china. I kept both of my brother's and my sets from when we were little kids (we were 1970's kids) and when my daughter was born (in 2000) her Godmother bought her a set of her own.

I have always been fond of them and right now I am thinking back to how excited I got while eating my breakfast cereal and the little bunny picture in the bowl would start appearing as the milk and cereal were disappearing. Haha....It is the little things like this that bring us joy! :)

Happy Smile on Saturday everyone! :-) xo

"Often, strange structures appear on an oak tree and these attractive round balls seen swinging amongst the catkins or attached to the buds are known as Galls and house different types of wasp larva."

There are various types of gall and they are caused by a gall wasp that lays its eggs inside the acorn, causing it to mutate. These wasps do not usually cause damage to the tree and are nothing to worry about. The most common are the Currant galls, the red Cherry galls and the Marble galls. If you were to cut one of those galls open, you would find the wasp larva curled up inside.

The 3PM R32 farewell run runs up the express track between Beverley Road and Church Avenue in Brooklyn. The two north facing cars were modified to appear in their as delivered look with blue doors, TA logos, and destination signs.

It appears that the building was shortened sometime after the sign was painted. To me the ghost looks fairly recent, like Mid-Twentieth Century. In the background is the dome atop the US Post Office on Hillsdale Street.

A couple of views of a young comrorant that was fishing in the rock pools at Maer Rocks Exmouth. It didn't seem worried by me at all.

A large and conspicuous waterbird, the cormorant has an almost primitive appearance with its long neck making it appear reptilian. It is often seen standing with its wings held out to dry. Regarded by some as black, sinister and greedy, cormorants are supreme fishers which can bring them into conflict with anglers and they have been persecuted in the past. The UK holds internationally important wintering numbers.

it appears as if we are going through the bridge (due to the reflections in the water). Also I am in the canoe taking this picture. There are two shadows of the canoe, we are farther to the right, you actually can not see us. There is no bridge underneath us. That to is a reflection in the water. (strange)

This beauty appeared in the field next to our cottage yesterday afternoon to hunt after two days of heavy rain and wind ...
