Amidst the dust and oblivion, they represent the last thread of hope.

Amidst the wintry landscape, an old wooden bridge stretches its timeworn limbs over icy waters, a testament to resilience and connection. Each creak and groan tells a story of enduring countless seasons, facing the biting cold with stoic strength. This bridge, worn by the weight of footsteps that have crossed its planks over time, becomes a metaphor for the bridges we build in our lives. Just as this structure spans the icy waters, we, too, navigate the cold currents of circumstance and misunderstanding. Building bridges, whether metaphorical or tangible, is a reflection of our innate human capacity to connect, to transcend divides, and to forge pathways to understanding. In the delicate dance between vulnerability and fortitude, we construct bridges that carry the weight of shared experiences, fostering connections that sustain us through the icy waters of life.

Amidst a complex seascape, a pair of class 88 electro-diesels, 88008 ‘Ariadne’ and 88010 ‘Aurora’ stand at Hunterston Low Level with 6S54, the 0442 from Carlisle Kingmoor.

The train is standing at the end of the Hunterston Low Level branch, with the buffer stops located under the disused conveyer belt once used to convey imported ore and later coal from the deepwater anchorages of Clydeport. The crane used for loading irradiated nuclear fuel flasks is immediately behind the locomotives, with a single flask wagon positioned under the crane.

The water in the foreground is Hunterston Lagoon, which was created when the Clydeport complex was built in the 1970s.

Beyond the conveyer is Millport, the only town on the island of Great Cumbrae.

Across the Firth of Clyde is Kilchattan Bay on the Isle of Bute.

Further still, across Kilbrannan Sound is Kintyre, a long peninsular of the Scottish mainland. Nearly 25 miles away the Beinn an Tuirc Windfarm is visible on top of the Kintyre ridge.

that absolutely fascinates me.

Amidst the quiet of the mountains, the sunrise whispers secrets of possibility, reminding us that with each step, we journey closer to our dreams.

Amidst the quiet grandeur of Raj Bhavan, Mumbai, this sunlit veranda stands as a silent witness to history. The delicate latticework, dancing shadows, and sea-kissed breeze evoke a forgotten rhythm — where viceroys once paused, and time still chooses to linger. In this stillness, echoes of the past breathe softly through beams of light.

Raj Bhavan, Mumbai is the official residence of the governor of Maharashtra. It is located on the tip of Malabar Hills, Mumbai.

Amidst the brutal architecture

Amidst the cold, biting winds of winter, the shipyards along the Thames stand as silent witnesses to time. The heavy, storm-laden sky looms above, casting a dramatic contrast over the rusted metal and old timber, while the river churns beneath.

I wanted to write a personal note, but found this article expressing it way better. Do read.

A hatchling Burmese Python (Python bivittatus) in habitat in the vast marshes of the Everglades as wild thunderstorm approaches in south Florida. Much of the region that pythons inhabit here is freshwater marsh, where they utilize levees and tree islands to hunt a wide variety of prey. At roughly 20" out of the egg, hatchling pythons can quickly put on size and reach 4 feet in length in a year span.

Perched amidst the greenery, bathed in the sun's golden caress, are slender birds of flame. Not of flesh and feather, but of molten glass, their forms elongated and graceful, necks stretching skyward like ballerinas in a fiery tutu. The sunlight, as if drawn to their molten hearts, ignites them from within. A ballet of crimson and amber, their bodies glow with an inner furnace. Each bird, a unique sculpture, catches the light differently. The hedgerow, no longer just a wall of green, becomes a canvas for the fiery display. Leaves, touched by the reflected glow, take on a warm blush, and shadows deepen to emerald ink. The air itself shimmers with heat, dancing with the ghosts of flame.

Electric Road, Tin Hau. 2023.

Amidst the brutal summer heat, we ended up sitting in the shade while H66 dropped their cars for the H98 to deal with the following day. The admiral cab SD40-3 wasnt an ideal leader but it was a break in the typical SD60E's that commonly run this job.

We ditched the SDQA at Girardville before finding the H66 at Jeddo where we would follow them the rest of the way south to the Lehigh Gorge ending a solid day out on the railroad. I'll get to posting some of those shots later on

Monarch amidst Autumn flowers...

Monarch migration is unique to all butterflies found in North America. Some individual butterflies travel upwards of 3,000 miles (4,830 kilometers) and can fly at altitudes as high as 10,000 feet (3,050 meters). They are the only butterfly species to make such a long, two-way migration every year. Their offspring return each winter to the same winter roosts and even to the same trees used by previous monarch generations. Absolutely amazing!

Have a beautiful day everyone!

Thanks so much for your visit and wonderful comments!

amidst a morning of riptides, filthy barrels, and dark fog, this beauty rolled in.

i am grateful there is no one on it.

We spent a few moments watching each other, then went about our own business.

There are, it seems, two muses: the Muse of Inspiration, who gives us inarticulate visions and desires, and the Muse of Realization, who returns again and again to say “It is yet more difficult than you thought.” This is the muse of form. It may be then that form serves us best when it works as an obstruction, to baffle us and deflect our intended course. It may be that when we no longer know what to do, we have come to our real work and when we no longer know which way to go, we have begun our real journey. The mind that is not baffled is not employed. The impeded stream is the one that sings.

These thoughts were incredibly well written by Wendell Berry, about the making of sculpture, but they resonate with me about making of a photograph as opposed to taking a picture.

Amidst the rolling hills, your car winds its way toward the Stour Valley. The sky, once clear, now bears the weight of impending tempest. You glance at the rearview mirror, catching glimpses of ominous clouds gathering behind you. The air thickens, charged with anticipation. As you approach the valley, the landscape transforms. Verdant fields stretch out, their hues deepening as raindrops begin their descent.
