Life is a wonderful gift but it is not always kind. Many of us have experienced the feeling of drifting through the everyday haze of sadness, unable to see or feel beauty or our own creativity. Wandering through the fog at Peggy’s Cove one feels the serenity that can be so elusive. It feels wonderful to be back.
Thank you for your visit, kind comments, all of which I read, and favorites.

Amidst the bustle of smaller and larger sailing boats on the Italian Riviera, I saw this one, somewhat forlornly trying to keep a one-man boat going. The shot was made in Summer 2020.
Azizi (previously known as Flora!) washing himself amidst holding his strawberry. What you see is him creating his own dribble in order to wash his face. He does this ritual every evening, usually after his tea.
Amidst the rubble, the little healer finds hope…
Let's keep building a world founded on
kindness, compassion, and love.
Let's keep lifting one another up.
Let's keep hope in our hearts as we create a brighter future.
Keep shining bright, my friends!
Although autumn has now well and truly given way to winter here in Melbourne, there is still a great deal of colour around if you remember to take your time, stop and smell the roses, like this dainty little pale pink beauty which I saw on poking its head out from amidst a hedge of bright red berries on a walk in early June.
The day I took this photo was a lovely and sunny day with bright blue skies: although there was a definite crispness in the air if you were out of the sun.
Amidst the great variability, in terms of colors and shapes, of blooms presented by orchids of the Dendrobium genus, those species belonging to the Callista section stand out, characterized by their showy inflorescences in the form of leafy bunches, with petals, sepals and lips in varied shades. Dendrobium chrysotoxum is a beautiful representative of this botanical section, known for its abundant blooms, composed of yellow petals and sepals, which contrast with the lip in an incredible shade of yolk orange.
The flowers are highly fragrant of honey and are short lived.
There is rain, there is wind, there is sun:
it's March, everything has an enchantment;
it's March, crying and not wanting,
who shows the smile amidst the tears.
Amidst the salt dunes and the marshy landscape in Kutch area of Gujarat, India, the flamingoes breed and become adults. Some adults in flight have been captured above.
It was very early morning, much before sunrise and light conditions were poor. Hence very high ISO had to be used as one had to open the lens to the maximum and the speed had to be very fast so as to capture the flying birds.
The Kanman Gorge of the Daiya River in Nikko, Japan is named after the final phrase in the mantra to Fudo Myoo, "the immovable wisdom king."
The most powerful of the five wisdom kings in Buddhism, Fudo Myoo is often depicted with a scowl, a sword in his right hand and a rope in his left. The sound of rushing water in cascades is believed to resemble the mantra followers chant beseeching him to use his flaming sword to clearing away obstacles and the rope to reign in their worldly desires.
Kokai, a 17th century monk and disciple of the monk in charge of constructing the world-heritage Toshogu shrine nearby, developed the walkway along this area. It has become famous for the Narabi Jizō (Jizō in a line), a line of stone statues of the Bodhisattva Jizō, protector of lost souls, children and travelers. Legend has it, the number of statues is uncountable because Jizō is a figure between the current world and heaven, his figures disappear from time to time.

Amidst The Pines.......
Last week we packed up and headed for a local park, hiking deep into the woods.
I find that when I am surrounded by the wonderful quietness of the forest, I become acutely aware of the rustling of leaves and twigs even the flutter of little wings can draw my attention.
This shot of a small bird nestled in the pine tree along the trail was one that caught my attention.

Each year in April a charcoal burner gets invited into my hometown by local authorities. This is keeping in line with a long standing tradition of burning of wood and subsequently making charcoal in a nearby safe part of the forest.
A few years back I went to see the customary procedure in the wee hours of the morning. The charcoal burner has to get up every couple of hours to watch the process of burning. He usually sleeps in a self-built wooden shack close to mother nature´s ground. Unbekownst to me, but guessing, the fiery German Schnaps, he surely liked, made it difficult for him to wake up on time.
The moment I arrived the huge heap of wood was burning at full blast. No charcoal can be made in this manner. Important is an even carbonization at a low temperature, a die away and charring. All fluid and gaseous combustion products need detracting. So I dashed to his shack and immediately woke him up. A minute later I photographed him hastily working, whilst listening to his mumbling.
Just east of Nanaimo, B.C. by ferry. Surprised by the haze last Thanksgiving, but imagine it's worse this summer with the 100s of wildfires burning throughout British Columbia. In any case, the colour of the roofs & tanks pop against the blues of ocean and forests.
The bright diffused light worked out nicely on this morning, perfect for soft and photogenic images with appealing colours.
The bright, yellow plumage of this American Goldfinch is hard to beat. The bird is instantly recognizable amidst the green leaves of summer.

A truly brilliant blue late-winter sky near Traverse City, Michigan--made all the more colorful in contrast to this sun-drenched building on the beach. It was one of those suddenly miraculous days amidst many many grey ones.
Nestled amidst the majestic Karakoram Range in Pakistan, Katpana Lake is a hidden gem waiting to be discovered, Located near Skardu in Gilgit-Baltistan, this serene and captivating lake offers visitors a glimpse of untouched natural beauty.
Katpana Lake is known for its breathtaking beauty and tranquil ambiance. Surrounded by towering snow-capped peaks, the lake's crystal-clear waters mirror the stunning landscape, creating a mesmerizing sight. The vibrant hues of the surrounding mountains, ranging from deep greens to brilliant whites, provide a picturesque backdrop that leaves visitors in awe. This hidden wonderland is a paradise for nature lovers, photographers, and those seeking solace in the lap of nature.
One of the most appealing aspects of Katpana Lake is its peaceful atmosphere. Away from the hustle and bustle of city life, this secluded oasis offers a serene escape from the noise and stress of everyday life. The gentle lapping of the lake's waters and the whispering of the wind create a soothing symphony that rejuvenates the soul. It's a place where one can find solitude, connect with nature, and experience a sense of tranquility that is hard to find elsewhere.
Amidst all the pessimism and anxiety, one sign of life in our city is that the construction industry carries on, and very noisily at that.

Introduction
The Words of the Returned Lord Jesus "Man Can Only Be Saved Amidst the Management of God"
Almighty God says, "Mankind does not know who is the Sovereign of all things in the universe, much less does he know the beginning and future of mankind. Mankind merely lives, perforce, amidst this law. None can escape it and none can change it, for among all things and in the heavens there is but One from everlasting to everlasting who holds sovereignty over everything. He is the One who has never been beheld by man, the One whom mankind has never known, in whose existence mankind has never believed, yet He is the One who breathed the breath into mankind’s ancestors and gave life to mankind. He is the One who supplies and nourishes mankind for its existence, and guides mankind up to the present day. Moreover, He and He alone is whom mankind depends on for its survival. He holds sovereignty over all things and rules all living beings beneath the universe. He commands the four seasons, and it is He who calls forth wind, frost, snow, and rain. He gives mankind sunshine and brings the coming of night. It was He who laid out the heavens and earth, providing man with mountains, lakes and rivers and all the living things within them. His deed is everywhere, His power is everywhere, His wisdom is everywhere, and His authority is everywhere. … The management of God is always going forward and has never ceased. He will make mankind aware of His existence, trust in His sovereignty, behold His deed, and return to His kingdom. This is His plan, and the work that He has been conducting for thousands of years.”

have a great mid week and stay safe always my Flickr Friends ..
Its an unusually cold winter this season and the mornings are very foggy - so shooting is a challenge. But then a visit to the wetlands, I found so much activity that it was a joy to watch it, but not great for photography. As I was wandering around the paths, found this little bird sitting peacefully next to some paddyfields and enjoying the sun. He didn't move even when I got close, so I slowly shifted my position to have the sun behind me and took some shots - he still didn't move, but watched me carefully. As soon as I got my camera down, he flew away.
The Red Avadavats - previously known as Strawberry finches - are at the end of their breeding season which is usually from Jul/Aug - Dec of every year. The birds now in deep rich red color - impossible to miss amidst the browns and greens of the grasslands and lake banks - will slowly lose that color and turn brown. They are still beautiful though, but a bit harder to sight and shoot.
I sighted a large flock of around 30-40 of them which were foraging in the dry paddyfields. The females too were looking very beautiful in their prime breeding plumage - with golden hues and reddish beak.
Thank you so much in advance for your views, feedback and faves.

To make the most of our summer holiday at home we chose another area of Dartmoor we have not explored before. Our plan for the day was a circular walk at Foggintor quarry near Princetown. Almost 200 years ago Foggintor quarry was buzzing with industrial activity and delivered granite across the country (e.g. for the Nelson’s Column in Trafalgar Square). Today there are still many ruined buildings spread across the old quarry site and it was a real adventure for the boys and us to go exploring! Once we arrived at the quarry and the ruins in the photo I was delighted to see that single cow standing amidst the rubble - a perfect motif for me! The cow was rather peculiar chewing on a rock as if it was chewing gum! I took a few shots then we continued our way along a former railway track.
