The historical-cultural-religious complex Pateo do Collegio belongs to the Society of Jesus, religious order of the Jesuits. Amidst the skyscrapers of the center of the capital of São Paulo, the Pateo do Collegio, the birthplace of what became one of the largest metropolises in the world, was the place where São Paulo was born. In 1554, Father Anchieta, after an expedition that left the coast, decided to build a dependency to serve as a lodging and college for the catechization of the Indians, thus founding the city of São Paulo. Amidst a massive storm that left over 600,000 without power in Washington State, with sleet, hail, and torrential rain pelting the coast, warnings were issued for everyone to stay indoors. But I couldn’t resist the raw energy of the tempest and decided to brave the fierce winds and relentless downpour to capture this shot. I’m thrilled with the overall story the image conveys.

Yesterday I lost my Grandmother. She was in her 90's and lived a life most hoped of living. I got to see her the night before she passed. I am thankful for her wisdom, beauty, and her loving compassion. I will treasure her greatly. I know she loved and believed in Jesus Christ and today will be in Heaven.

Amidst the meadow's gentle breeze,
Cosmos flowers sway with ease.
Their petals, painted hues divine,
In rhythms of the grand design.
With each graceful, flowing bend,
They whisper tales that never end.
A dance beneath the vast expanse,
In harmony, they softly dance.
Their beauty, like a cosmic dream,
In every petal, a silent gleam.
As they sway with nature's call,
The cosmos blooms, enchanting all.
So let them sway, let them twirl,
In the wind, they unfurl.
Due to intense harm and evil choices of others you are faced with so much darkness, devastation, difficulty, physical and emotional pain and suffering, unpredictability, fear, terror and so many other challenges that almost completely crush you which you are unable to express with words. And amidst all this suffering, when it feels like too much and you want to quit trying to survive, you work to keep looking for light and moving forward in healthy ways even when it seems impossible. Thank you for pressing on at a pace appropriate for you by working to care for yourself through many forms of nourishment, working to receive healthy support through God’s faithfulness and people who deeply care for you, through rest, tears, and graceful acknowledgment of truth and reality. You still have a long way to go on this journey and it is amazing how far you’ve come.
