Een cultauto, zo kan je 'm inmiddels wel noemen, hier gespot in Den Haag. De AMC Pacer was eventjes populair & succesvol, maar door allerlei oorzaken (hoge productiekosten, niet al te overtuigende kwaliteit, dalende verkopen) na enige tijd een molensteen om de nek van producent AMC die heeft bijgedragen aan de ondergang van het bedrijf.

My dad gave me this key, and the car that went with it. It was my first car, a high school graduation present, a 1974 AMC Hornet Sportabout.

The AMC Eagle Sports Wagon. It was equipped with four-wheel drive and offered by American Motors Corporation (AMC) in one generation only for model years 1980 through 1987. Then for 1988, Chrysler Corporation continued it for one more model year when it acquired AMC.
I've been told this was the biggest Cascade Days car show yet, with 100 vehicles. That's a lot for a town of 700 people.

Here is the AMC theater entrance, and a side view of She's That Girl. It was a nice, pleasant night that night, good for getting out for some nighttime photo ops.
I had a lovely makeover today with Claire at AMC. I started in a new dress I bought this week and it went well I think with this wig. Lots more to come......
The AMC AMX is a two-seat GT-style sports car that was produced by American Motors Corporation for the 1968 through 1970 model years.[2][6] The AMX was also classified as a muscle car, but "unique among other American cars at the time due its short wheelbase".[7] The AMX was also the only American-built steel-bodied two-seater of its time, the first since the 1955-1957 Ford Thunderbird.[8] To a degree, the AMX was a competitor with America's only other two-seater of the era, the Chevrolet Corvette[9] for substantially less money.[8] With a one-inch (2.5 cm) shorter wheelbase than Chevrolet's two-seater, the AMX was often seen by the press as a "Corvette competitor"[10]
Fitted with the optional high-compression medium block 390 cu in (6.4 L) AMC V8 engine, the AMX offered top-notch performance at an affordable price. In spite of this value and enthusiastic initial reception by automotive media and enthusiasts, sales never thrived. However, the automaker's larger objectives to refocus AMC's image on performance and to bring younger customers into its dealer showrooms was achieved. After three model years, the two-seat version was discontinued, and the AMX's now signature badging was transferred to a high-performance version of its four-seat sibling, the Javelin, from the 1971 to 1974 model years.
From 1968 to 1970, AMC (American Motors) produced their high performance, 2-seat AMX model that was a shortened Javelin, AMC’s entry in the pony car market. The AMX models were equipped with V8 engines.
The 1970 model was the last of the first generation. The following model year and generation, the AMX and the Javelin shared the same body.

I knew this car from Amsterdam some years ago, but I missed her already for a while. Here it showed up, early in the morning.
The original colour used to be beige, but in the past she has been painted also black some time.
3802 cc 6 cylinder engine.
1510 kg.
Production AMC Pacer: 1975-1980.
Original first reg. number: May 1, 1975.
New Dutch license number: Dec. 11, 2000, since then still from same owner.
