1. I'm a friend of webcomic author xkcd's since middle school/the past 12ish years.
2. I once built a somewhat-full-sized trebuchet. With xkcd, in fact. I still haven't got it to its full potential, but I imagine that's soon forthcoming, and should be on flickr once I get it working well.
3. I lived in Uganda for a semester - my parents were going to be missionaries, but it didn't really work out. Oh well, at least I had fun.
4. I have a fairly extensive collection of thrift store t-shirts, most of them awesome.
5. I used to have a pet bansai tree named Hippo.
6. My history degree is useless - I've been working at Starbucks since I graduated.
7. The project that began pulling me out of my dark ages back in high school was a 100-gun ship of the line. It never got done, but returned in a smaller scale in my current pirate ship project.
8. I've lived in Virginia my whole life, though I did leave to Pennsylvania for college.
9. I play guitar somewhat - mostly folk music, though I was into punk back in my high school days.
10. Like Gambort, I'm also a smoker and probably would've quit by now if I didn't work retail.

My current Classic Space Moonbase. Still growing ...
When I sat down to pick a subject to build for the Tricky Bricks Monochrome Challenge, Batman seemed like the natural choice. After all, he only works in black . . . and sometimes very, very dark bley!
Features advanced SNOT building techniques such as "balancing a plate on a bear's nose" and "pinching a hose between two fences"

Everyone had dreams and have obstacles that stand in the way. I wanted create an inspiring story of a young girl challenging those barriers. The heart shape base dictated the build's theme and this music box within a music box was born. Designing a messy girl’s room was fun with clothes, records, and books strewn across the floor. Minifig capes were used as tissue paper in the shoe box and as an article of clothing poking out of the dresser. Her stuffed animals (including a Duplo bear) cheer her on as she tries out new ballet slippers. Her favorite embroidered denim jacket pulled over a classic pink tutu and blowing bubbles as she spins pirouette about her room, she is much cooler and more confident than I ever was at that age.
I plan on touring this model over the summer and I would love to hear what you think of it.
The front reads lego.
This is a solidworks mock up, see the whole set for the complete idea. For the moment it's only virtual but I intend to make it from bricks.
Including a poorly molded 2x1 plate and a piece of string.
In addition, one 4x4 white plate and another 4x2 white plate were missing! I used LEGO pieces for them.
