A couple of friends and I decided to follow Chicago, South Shore & South Bend freight job AF-2 on Wednesday, November 10th, 2021, which runs from Michigan City to Kingsbury, Indiana on the former NKP (LE&W) line. I know little about this old line and had no idea about AF-2. This day turned out great and I will be posting shots I took between Michigan City, Indiana and Stillwell, Indiana. When the train got to Kingsbury and we finally found it, it was too dark for pics.
This chase needs to be done in the summertime.
In this photo, the South Shore AF-2 job is finally getting their turn at the diamond in LaPorte, Indiana at "WIRE" interlocking. The tower that was here was in the same quadrant as I am standing, and in the LS&MS days was referred to as "C" tower. Later, the NYC renamed it "WR" tower. After it was removed, the interlocking was controlled from "JD" tower just west of here.
CSS GP38-2's #2005-2006 were built by EMD in 1981.

Now here's a story. I recently took my 20 year old Mercedes E Class for it's annual service and MOT and as I drove away from the house the car's acceleration felt odd. The garage who service the car said they couldn't find the cause of the problem as 'the car is too old for our diagnostic gear'!!! They recommended that I took the car to AF Tuning. When I arrived I found a garage that looked very 1960s but it had other Mercedes, Porsches and even an E Type in for attention. AT Tuning fixed the problem and allowed me to photograph the place at the same time. Amongst all the repair gear were computers being used to diagnose faults. They are able to tackle all sorts of models and problems. I recommend them.
At least an interesting Samsung camera (sort of). This AF Slim has its eyes set on the Konica Big Mini or A4. The design is cool for a Samsung, but subdued, it carries a yellow sticker saying "Good Design", just in case you missed.
It is a compact camera, but not small as the Olympus Mju:II. still, it offers some nice specs, like the auto macro-mode, the camera automatically detects close by subjects and switchs to macro mode, focusing from .35 cm (I think). There are all the normal flash option, plus a B setting. There is also a continuous shooting mode, 2 self-timer modes and an intervalometer 60 min and 30 min. Nice classy touch is a dedicated function for rewinding the film, no pen tip here needed.
I wish I knew more about the lens or shutter, but I couldn't find any information about this little camera
Nikon AF-S 200-500/5.6E VR plus TC 1.4x III shot with a D810. Developed in Lightroom 5.7.1 to Adobe Standard with sharpening at 35/0.5/36/10, no NR.

The L AF is from 1986 and the T3 is from 1988. The T Scope represents my first "Yashica" that isn't a Yashica. Kyocera by 1988 (at least in Japan) dropped the Yashica name altogether.
The L AF was assembled in Hong Kong with parts made in Japan - the T Scope was still made in Japan. The Kyocera sold for 43,500 JPY new. The T3 has the fastest lens in the T* Series of cameras.
I'll be doing a side by side test of these two cameras shortly. Be sure to check back.
