I wasn't able to get out last weekend, but a this morning was different especially as it was bright. I had a tip off about a Mink that's been seen a number of times this week along the river so I thought it was worth checking out. Unfortunately it was a no show, however a pair of Kingfishers were showing albeit rather distant. Nevertheless despite not being a frame filler I think it works as an image.

We were able to hike in the woods along the lake until July 1 this year before the biting flies made it too miserable to enjoy. Now we’ll be enjoying bike rides and hiking on the dunes for the next several months.

The dune hike at Kohler Andrae State Park is a great work out, with lots of going up & down, keeping your balance on some slippery parts, and a few areas of hiking through sand when it covers up the cordwalk. Even more, you get terrific views the entire hike.

This species is definitely in my top five. That combination of yellow cap and chestnut sides is just amazing. I feel very fortunate to be able to see them all summer too as they breed near my home.

FRIENDSHIP

We decided to go out and make it all all right

It didn't work out of course we knew it couldn't

We couldn't even really stand each others sight

It shouldn't end this way but it did and I shouldn't

I miss you and everything you were to me

Ten years from now we will look back on it all

We will be older and finally be able to see

That love will stand the test of time and never fall..

Was able to get a couple of shots thru the freshly falling very wet snow. This handsome dude posed just long enough to allow me to capture the moment. Hope you like it !

As always, thanks very much for viewing.

How exciting to be able to see this Bobolink, a life bird and rare bird to the area. This beauty seemed to like Elliot and perched several times right in front of him! It was up most of the time perching and preening then dropped down to the ground to hunt seeds.

I missed this bird three years ago in San Leandro at Oyster Bay. So happy to add this one to my list!!

One crazy thing I've been enjoying is *reviewing* some of the purchases I've made on Etsy; mostly charm/bead/seal related for my various projects. During this process I've discovered a passion for primitive jewelry making, inspired by some of the surprises which have arrived. I had no idea this would be so large, so have treated myself to an awesome necklace! I was able to place a very small faux pearl in the head of the square, wire maze . . . and yes, an amazing *find* . . . Phenomenal price . . . under $3.00! I'm hooked!

Parc national de la Jacques-Cartier. À ma grande surprise, cette famille n'avait absolument aucune crainte de mon kayak. J'ai donc pu m'approcher assez pour faire quelques photos.

___

I was very surprised to see that this family was not scared of my kayak. I've been able to get close enough to get a good shot.

RHS Hyde Hall, Rettendon, Essex

Over many years I have posted images taken at RHS Hyde Hall and this is a continuation of a series called ‘A Day in the Life’. As the title suggests I’m posting what I think are the best photographs taken on that particular day.

This is the first day I have been able to stay out for any length of time since my illness which occurred last May. The weather was perfect, all good.

Finally I was able to get out in foggy conditions yesterday. After a week of fog every morning and not being able to get out and enjoy it I was super happy to get out for quite some hours Saturday morning. Got dropped off at one of my favourite hunting grounds - Restenäs island - and spent a lovely morning just being.

Can't believe the owners of this dock have left it to ruin, though from a photography perspective it's wonderful. Hopefully, it's just temporary and will be back to it's glory next year. Still makes for an interesting subject in the fog as the sun crests the hills over on the mainland.

Upper Antelope Canyon, Page AZ

I was able to tour both Upper and Lower Antelope Canyon. The shapes and patterns of the sandstone are nothing short of amazing!

I feel lucky and blessed to have been able to reside in these 4 wonderful countries, the UK, Canada, Brazil and the USA and appreciate the great things about each country and their people. I feel richer for the experience and more able to understand different traditions and lifestyles. It has encouraged my curiosity about the world and made me realize the importance and wonder of diversity.

Thank you for your kind visit. Have a wonderful and beautiful day! xo💜💜

While my mother was in the hospital I found some brief respite through visits to Munsinger Clemens Gardens in St. Cloud. Right away I spotted a couple of clearwing moths visiting the vivid magenta colored Bee Balm. There were actually two of them on the same flower for a short time but I wasn't able to capture them together. These gardens are just beautiful and helped heal my soul a little that day. A friend asked me: "After all these Safaris you made, what are you looking for this time? What is it you like to snap this time?"

My answer was: "Honey Badger! We´v seen them often, but I never was able to get a clean shot of one of those guys. They always tend to disappear in the grass only allowing blurry butt shots."

As if someone had listened, luck was on our side and we had this lovely badger in hunting mode for several minutes. The critter never stood still but I was lucky enough to get some nice shots, at least.

I'm not gonna be able to drag my fat butt up and out of this river and on to the bank let alone drag it back to my den this winter! LOL.

I don't know why, that's what popped into my mind when I looked at this photo.

This isn't cropped at all just to give it more context for you.

I was finally able to get to the beach again this morning following the recent flooding and weather issues we've had!

I fully expected the rocks at the southern end of Bar Beach to be exposed following the huge seas, and wasn't dissapointed!!

Even more of a bonus awaited in the colors prior to sunrise!!!!!

Hope you like this one - most sincere thanks for any comments, views or favorites - very much appreciated!!!

Have an awesome day and an even better weekend everyone!!!

What an absolute treat to be able to see this VERY rare warbler two years in a row on the peninsula. Last year, the photo and shooting conditions were horrible.

This year the bird was in deep shade and when I first arrived, in the tall grass. Eventually it flew out and near a tree where it perched for a short time. Of course, my battery died right as it came out in the open. OMG!!! Thankfully, I was able to get a new battery in and get a couple shots. This one is not great but is 200% better than last year's shot.

First of all, sorry for my long absence. Due to the extreme heat that we´re suffering in Madrid and to the excessively late sunsets I haven´t been able to go out from home to take pictures.

As I said before, and as many of you will know, we are experiencing a very long, suffocating and madding heatwave in many parts of Spain, Madrid included.

The majority of the days, the highest temperatures are reaching 102F or 104F (39ºC o 40ºC), with total absence of humidity (I recognize that´s an advantage when it´s so hot) and with lowest about 72F to 77F (entre 22ºC y 25ºC) , or even more.

In my humble opinion, this extreme heat is unbearable and I prefer to stay at home with the air conditioning system that going out and suffer a heat strike or something worse.

Talking about this picture, it was taken at 10:00 pm (fortunately sunsets are happening earlier everyday), but anyway, here you can see the light at that hour. The temperature was 91F (33ºC) with completely calm wind.

As you can see in the picture, some cars are heading towards my workplace, Terminal 4 in Madrid Barajas Airport, these summer days with much air traffic and many operations, as you can imagine.

Here you can see the two main control towers, the nearest in the NET building and the farthest one in the Satellite building or SAT.

I can see this scene everyday during my short drive from home to the airport terminal, and I wanted to share it with you.

I hope you like this picture and I take advantage to wish you a good Summer, or Winter if you´re in the Southern Hemisphere, with a lot of good vibes and pleasing moments.

Southern Africa

The wildebeest also called the gnu is an antelope in the genus Connochaetes native to Eastern and Southern Africa. It belongs to the family Bovidae, which includes antelopes, cattle, goats, sheep, and other even-toed horned ungulates.

Connochaetes includes two species, both native to Africa: the black wildebeest or white-tailed gnu (C. gnou), and the blue wildebeest or brindled gnu (C. taurinus).

In East Africa, the blue wildebeest is the most abundant big-game species; some populations perform an annual migration to new grazing grounds, but the black wildebeest is merely nomadic. Breeding in both takes place over a short period of time at the end of the rainy season and the calves are soon active and are able to move with the herd, a fact necessary for their survival. Nevertheless, some fall prey to large carnivores, especially the spotted hyena.

Wildebeest often graze in mixed herds with zebra, which gives heightened awareness of potential predators. They are also alert to the warning signals emitted by other animals such as baboons.

Some illegal hunting goes on but the population trend is fairly stable and some populations are in national parks or on private land. The International Union for Conservation of Nature lists both as least-concern species. – Wikipedia

I have not been able to go out and shoot for this challenge yet, however, I have an historic image where I took my tripod and set it up at our local waterfall. Another photographer came up to me whilst taking the shot asking my settings. ISO 100, F16, 1/2sec. Time taken was at 3.32pm.

Across cultures all over the globe, there are a few notable threads that seemingly connect us. Some qualities such as being able to read body language, our appreciation for good food, and our need to love and be loved just to name a few. Well, this cookie tin is one of those things. At some point in our lives did we probably stumble upon a tin similar to this one and, with bated breath, become giddy with the anticipation of devouring a morsel only to be met with a prick to our souls of finding out it's Grandma's sewing supplies. Well, fear no longer! With this new bento mesh, you'll have butter cookies for you and your loved ones until you're butter-cookied-out. Never have the disappointment of opening a mysterious tin and have your expectations crushed. Unless of course, you ate too many cookies and your pants happen to rip and you badly need a sewing kit then sorry, you're shit out of luck.

Anyway, from my Virtual Household to Yours; I hope you enjoy these decadent treats in all their ironic and delicious glory!

Ecco perche' non riuscivo a vedere la partita!

Auch schon vor 2 Jahren konnte ich in der Stadt der Künste und Wissenschaften in Valencia so einen menscheleeren Weg fotografieren :-)

Even 2 years ago I was able to photograph such a deserted way in the City of Arts and Sciences in Valencia :-)

Poor birds are trying to nest in one of two boxes, but that one damned House Sparrow keeps guarding both of them, not letting any bird other around. Immediate attack. I need to rid myself of that house sparrow . . . he chirps and chirps, but I don't think a female is interested. (I know these are my Tree Swallows from previous years, for I've been able to walk up closely and talk to them . . . and they talk back. So cool!)

I am having an internal conflict as to whether or not I want to trade my Outback in for a new one . . .

Thanks for Viewing.

Able to get out in some sunshine yesterday afternoon. Scotland's weather today has restored to default settings :-(

Last night I was able to observe a beautiful sky from the office window, with beautifully formed clouds that moved quickly in the wind, backlit by the almost full moon ... so I quickly grabbed the telephoto lens and tripod ...

------------------------

I love everything about nature and to be able to walk under this huge and very old Beech Tree at the Bayard Cutting Arboretum, is so awe inspiring.... this lens and image does not do this tree justice.... she totally surrounds you with her limbs....

you come out feeling warm and fuzzy....

...we all need to hug a tree whenever we can!!!

Went out to the east side of Jackson Bottom Wetland Preserve for some evening shooting and was able to get a few shots but it wasn't the color I was hoping for !!!

I was finally able to wipe the dust off my Canon mirrorless camera and put it to good use the other night at Tidelands Park in Coronado.

On the Iowa side, I think I'm most excited about being able to explore the CN more when I move out this way. Tonight after I dropped a carload of signal parts in my storage unit, I heard the CN local getting an eastbound warrant out of CB. With an SD60 and creamy light, I had to make an attempt on it. I hit my primary spot here with the old code line, but was thwarted by traffic on my super-backlit zoom shot.

...to view the entire sunball rise this morning with the naked eye....my camera apparently enjoyed the sun rising over Lewis Bay on Cape Cod, Mass. as well!

I haven't been capturing moments much lately, or was able to spend time with nature. This was how yesterday morning looked, sort of bringing the news that summer is near and maybe we'll be getting more of those amazing sunrises. Got to capture the morning which seems after a very long time. Sad to see winter leave so soon, and to think that I won't be able to see the white mornings of fogs and mists. I like the colours of this morning though.

I've been so busy with the new routines and classes and hospital wards, it's quite tough to keep up with everything and everyone though I'm trying... also we're having advanced lectures from the next year's and learning how to deal with patients. Overall life is busy :)

How's your life going? Hope you're having a good time :)

The largest Bald Eagle nest on record, in St. Petersburg, Florida, was 2.9 meters in diameter and 6.1 meters tall. Another famous nest—in Vermilion, Ohio—was shaped like a wine glass and weighed almost two metric tons. It was used for 34 years until the tree blew down.

You look... but you just need to be able to see...

Lovely red frilly poppy from a while ago. Nice and wet here so not able to photograph anything.

Here is a another capture from the pastures at Marbach. The mare and filly are German warmblood horses. I hope that I will be able to go there again in the near future as I would like to take some more photos of the Arabian horses who were difficult to photograph last time.

This guy caught me by a total surprise, just like falling instead of a launch, and this is the very best I could do. Tomorrow I will start a series I'm very proud of, and one I've never been able to get in 20-years, so I'm very happy indeed.

Thank you for stopping by, it is always so very much appreciated.

Whatever the mode – from the snapshot to the decisive moment to multi-media montage – the intent and purpose of photography is to render in visual terms feelings and experiences that often elude the ability of words to describe. In any case, the eyes have it, and the imagination will always soar farther than was expected :-)

I had never been able to capture the image of a dragonfly before. I could never get close enough to one, before it flew away. I had been using a 90mm macro lens. So I used my 150-600mm zoom lens. I could not get focus until I used manual focus. I am very happy with the results. So I will be posting many dragonfly images. taken in Alkali Flat Hot Spring, near Goldfield Nevada

I was able to capture both a Monarch Caterpillar and an adult in this shot, the caterpillar munching away on Swamp Milkweed and the adult laying more eggs. Captured in my native plant garden in NE Oklahoma.

Last Sunday I was lucky enough to be able to see the fireworks launched from the town of Navacerrada. To take photos I went from Navacerrada to the reservoir, located just 2 km from the town.

I was pleasantly surprised when I saw some more photographers at the dam with tripods and cameras. It was a very pleasant and memorable atmosphere.

Although the fireworks show lasted only 15 minutes, I enjoyed it to the fullest.

Happy Wednesday, friends!
