Red Fox Kits

I was able to get a picture of two of the kits standing next to each other! So much fun...I hope they will come back again sometime soon and stay a little while longer then a few weeks,,,one can hope!

Thanks for the views, comments and Faves! I greatly appreciate them! Have a wonderful day-stay safe and healthy!💕😊

Hello all lovely Flickr friends.

Back after a month with my son, who has incurable cancer. The chemotherapy is helping for a while, and we have had wonderful days.

I'm having my next knee surgery in a few days, and during the painstaking rehabilitation I probably won't be able to be active on Flickr.

But I'm back in the spring again.

Barred Owlet

In early June of last year, I'd had the privilege and pleasure of seeing and taking pictures of a Barred Owl family in the local park.*

Two owlets were located, perched a few metres apart high up in the safety of the tree. Not too far away in another tree were the parents, both sleeping. The owlets were clearly relaxed, just acting naturally, scratching an itch every now and then, using the talons to preen and clean.. Although the light was not ideal and the setting quite congested, which made any photography challenging, I am happy I was able to take some shots of this owl family.

* Many thanks to Ivan Deng for letting me know that the owlets had fledged, and above all, for graciously offering me a ride to the trail to photograph this owl family.

I also like to mention that I truly enjoy the company of Ivan and also Don Delaney whenever I go birding with them. I am not exaggerating - their hearing is supernormal, and that has always got my day off to a happy start. I must say I am no novice in the woods, but quite often I have not heard or seen a thing until they point it out to me.

Thank you very much for the visit and comment.

I was so so busy and most probably that will be same for a long time...Not only job..I wish only it was...

I might not able to comment your picture on time even not able to do..

if this is important for you , please do not commented....

In the 19th century the flour mills in Vejer were water driven. The best known is located in the Santa Lucía area of Vejer. Windmills were constructed on the ridge which were able to withstand the strong easterly gusts. The four windmills that remain in the San Miguel district on the edge of the village were built in the 1960s and have since been restored.

I will be off Flickr for this coming week as I am having eye surgery and won't be able to see too well for a few days. I hope to be back by the weekend.

PS: it's taken a little longer than I thought....will see you real soon, though :)

Captured at Lake Almaden, SJ, CA. I found a dragonfly resting on the tip of a leaf. I was able to get real close and took a few shots. But during the shoot, I noticed that it kept leaving and coming back to the same spot. Further observation found that it was leaving to catch food and returning to eat it. This went on for over an hour. Gave me ample time & tries to capture it's landing on returns. I don't know the species. Anyone know? Update, someone gave me a lead on the species. After some more research, Variegated Meadowhawk looks like a good match.

It almost feels like cheating. I never processed this image because of motion blur on the head. Now with some of the new programs it was able to be rescued. Amazing

In the golden hour at the end of the day, I saw the fox lie down for a nap behind my far apple tree. I was able to get halfway up the garden to take this shot, but it still needed a long lens.

Still escaping to my garden to avoid the ubiquitous and ever-disgusting "orange menace" currently in the White House" ...

Many, many thanks to all my Flickr friends for your visits, faves, and kind comments - you are always an inspiration and source of encouragement to me!

Due to other priorities and commitments, I was only able to get this shot up now, although this was taken a few months ago in May.

MacRitchie Reservoir is a great place to to get away from the noisy parts of the city, for some peace and quiet. During blue hour, it is surprisngly not very crowded at all, so I was able to experiment as many shots as possible in different settings without too much difficulty.

Alas, I was not able to get a good sunset that day due to very cloudy weather, but the blue hour view more than made up for it.

Was able to watch this Horned Lark for some time. With every movement I made it would go to the highest snow, search around and then back to foraging in the Parking Lot. (Bronte Creek Provincial Park)

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers for my brother-in-law Matt. He was able to go home late Tuesday night and is getting nurses and PT to come to the home. He still has quite the road ahead of him and can use more prayers but we are so grateful that he is home.

I never thought I'd be able to walk through this legendary city by myself...

For the first time in a long time, it is a place where I can feel big surprise unique to SL, which is exactly like SL.

The ancient city of Alexandria has been beautifully recreated.

Moreover, Alexandria, currently spread over two sims, is still under construction and will be expanded to three sims in the near future.

The city of Alexandria is not only designed to look like a city, but it is also based on many historical facts.

It is also home to the Library of Alexandria, a center of ancient knowledge, and the Pharos Lighthouse, one of the Seven Wonders of the World.

Visitors can also learn about Alexandria, ancient Rome, and ancient Greece.

We usually tend to spend our virtual lives for pleasure, but here we may need to straighten up a bit.

And I am puzzled how I can capture this wonderful place in a photograph.

Upper Springfield Road...smoke lingers in the air further out masking the mountains. Double click to enlarge and you'll barely be able to make them out

Until this moment I never was able to have a good look on roes, let alone to see their off-spring. I was informed there was a field with buckwheat where they gathered regularly.

So I went to that place and stayed there for a few hours, but nothing there.

Then I walked back to my car, and suddenly I saw a doe with two fawn in the distance, and I sneaked towards them. I was extremely lucky, they were standing on a little hill, not in the least worried by my presence. After a while the two fawns started even playing, running around and chasing each other.

This is the shot I like best from a large series of shots.

At the end of a night on the Devils Garden Campground in Arches NP, the thunder of a thunderstorm approaching from Canyonlands woke us up. From a safe distance, we were able to observe and photograph the scenery during the golden hour before sunrise.

COVID numbers are continuing to rise around the world. So many people are in lockdown and not able to get out, many have been sick and have had loved ones die, and so many, including me, who haven't been able to hug their families since the beginning of this pandemic. And we have no idea when the end is in sight, or if things will ever get back to "normal."

When I saw this little vine wrapped around a post in a nearby garden, I thought of how much all of us need a hug right about now. So I'm sending out a virtual hug to all of you.

"S or Sea, Shark, Skull", Street Art Ghent, Belgium by Cee Pil.

Found some more info about him on internet:

"The whole work can be summarized in the letter S. Sea, Shark, Skull. Artist Cee Pil is a master of interweaving images. Usually he puts two animals together, this time it is a shark and a skull.

It is a temporary fact, because it adorns the scaffolding for the works on the Winter Circus. That is in full transformation. There will be a concert hall, offices and shops, but also catering establishments and terraces. The renovated building must be able to open in 2022."

Oystercatcher on the wing and skimming the surface of the river. This bird had it's young tucked under the river bank just up from my position, I was able to get some shots as it kept returning to feed the chicks.

Here's a Red-shouldered Hawk on its way to the nest with some additional nesting material. I believe that the Florida Red-shouldered breed earlier than the species in other parts of the country. Once site had them breeding from January to May when general reference books state the species breed from May to July. In any event, I'm hoping that they are not just faking us out and that we have some new chicks to celebrate. In the course of my reading I learned that the females are larger than the males (probably smarter too) and that the pair are monogamous. Having said that, I've never been able to see the size difference but will pay more attention in the future. Happy 2023 everyone. (Buteo lineatus)

I am blessed to have my whole family come and celebrate with us, 5 children, 4 spouses, 9 grandchildren, and 3 friends, so we will have a house full of fun, love, and laughter. I wish that all of you are able to celebrate with others. My wish is that no-one is lonely during this holiday. Sending love and happy thoughts to everyone, to those who celebrate and those who don't and let's all spread the love!

Thank you for your kind visit. Have a wonderful and beautiful day! ❤️ ❤️ ❤️

Pleased I was able to finally get to this iconic Mt. Rainier waterfall. It's famous for lining up with Rainier nicely. Last time I was here the trails were closed for maintenance.

I'd heard Myrtle can be a tough shoot, so was here in the dark. Wasn't sure why. Short hike to get to it. It is an easy shoot actually, for just one shooter. No room for another to set up. Can't see the falls for the trees, except for this one small window.

The smoky skies enhanced the rosy glow that Rainier gets for a short time each sunrise. Who needs sleep when you can get up and begin a day with sights like this? A nap later helps tho.

Friday is here! Have a wonderful day and weekend!

Blue-gray gnatcatchers are, without a doubt, one of the most special and entertaining birds the US has to offer. With a pretty sky-blue back contrasting with a paler shade of blue, along with white and black, they boast what I think is one of the more underrated color combinations when it comes to Neotropical migrants, and I’m sure they know it because they sure like to flip those tails around (kidding, that’s a foraging technique). That isn’t the only thing about them that’s underrated; males are pretty great songsters too, emitting an intricate series of what is both their own little babbles and little phrases of other species songs. I even found yesterday that they are able to mimic new vocalizations on the spot. Unfortunately, these guys have the luck of returning earlier than the warblers, and they only get two weeks of fame before what many people consider the real show falls upon our forests. That’s okay, though- they get right to pairing up and nest-building and have fledged young by the end of June, so I think they couldn’t care less about how much attention we pay to them.

She turned to chapter thirteen of her story,

Her favorite chapter of them all,

A guardian angel so unique,

Hardly ever spoken about,

Your memories are what she guards,

Deciding when it was right to shelve some, shove some in drawers or bring out some in tsunami waves,

She is the culprit who releases butterflies in your stomach,

Sometime she is mischievous,

Sometimes she can be cruel,

But most of the time she is sincere,

Memories can be fragile,

If shaken, it can shatter and break,

Time adds more and more,

But also takes away what it gave,

It's difficult to puzzle the pieces back together,

There are things you need to remember to be able to forget...

Cannon Beach, Oregon

Since I was not able to hike this weekend and the weather is stormy today, I thought I would post a sunset from a couple months ago.

[**Note: I did not enhance or change the colors in these photos at all - everything really was pink!]

As someone who has been obsessed with sunsets since I was a child, I have watched some untold number of them over the years, and photographed many. But once in awhile there still comes a sunset that is like nothing I have seen before. This remarkable evening in Cannon Beach this summer was one of those.

As mentioned in the previously posted “Golden Gift”, the last day there was foggy and I wasn’t sure if there would be a sunset to see, but late in the afternoon some rays of sunshine broke through the clouds and turned everything to gold.

The clouds returned after that golden moment, but as it approached the time for sunset, something extraordinary happened. The sun turned pink! And then the sky and waves did too. I was completely transfixed by the jaw-dropping sight of it all. It was so striking that I’m posting multiple images because it feels like the only way to really convey the entirety of the moment.

And like the physical light of a sublime sunset that suddenly bursts through the clouds, sometimes a similar metaphorical light appears in one’s life. Perchance in the form of an unexpected friendship that one didn’t know was needed, but has now become a cherished gift. A friendship that illuminates the shadows to which one had grown so accustomed that their presence was no longer noticed. As one’s eyes adjust to the dark when light fades and dusk falls, so it happens with life as well. Until a friend, perhaps unknowingly on their part, extends the steady glow of warmth and light that sparks a heartfelt song of luminescent joy.

So this post is dedicated, with much gratitude, to that special glow of incandescent friends :-)

You can do it too! What? Hike! We were also able to go on beautiful hiking tours in Luxembourg. For example, in the near-natural Mullerthal, also known as Luxembourg's Little Switzerland, you can hike through sandstone cliffs or climb them.

Azure-shouldered Tanager - Not globally threatened. Currently considered Near-threatened. Occurs mainly inside humid forest and is less able to utilize forest edge and second growth than are most others in the genus, a factor that has contributed to its severe range contraction and fragmentation following deforestation. Believed to be in decline. Possibly occurs in only relatively few areas outside protected sites. birdsoftheworld.org/bow/species/azstan1

This beautiful beach is at Nelson Bay. A tiny shack settlement with a permanent registered population of four. That's right, four. If you want off-grid living, this is the place to be. And far enough from the rest of the world to be able to not give a care either. In this part of the world, the Tasmanian east coast is a foreign country.

An image, a sound, a smell

can lead you to a journey into the past,

with the memories as luggage.

Unexpected, without even being able to get dressed...

But dont worry,

the landscape may be foggy but its never cold.

I was able to spent a whole week on Alpe di Siusi / Seiser Alm. It was a fantastic week. I strolled over the alp fields 2 to 3 times per day. This picture shows the awakening of a new day. Compatsch, 2020.

Again, I would like to thank everyone for your support, views, faves and comments!

Florida is home to a relict population of northern caracaras that dates to the last glacial period, which ended around 12,500 BP. At that time, Florida and the rest of the Gulf Coast were covered in an oak savanna. As temperatures increased, the savanna between Florida and Texas disappeared. Caracaras were able to survive in the prairies of central Florida and the marshes along the St. Johns River. Cabbage palmettos are a preferred nesting site, although they also nest in southern live oaks. ~ Wikipedia

It is much easier to love life when you are traveling. Where no one knows you, where everything is in your hands, you really become the master of your destiny. Adventure gives us joy. And joy, after all, is the purpose of life. We earn money to be able to enjoy ourselves

I was able to get fairly close to this Red Admiral as it rested on the bricks of our house.

I used the selective color technique in my editing and was happy with the result.

With the great weather last week I was able to get in a few nice chases on the Wheeling east of Brewster. One was of this loaded limestone train destined for the stone yard at Martins Ferry on the Ohio River south of Mingo Junction. Wheeling's 6312 has one of the better GM logos on the nose so this was not too hard to take in place of orange stripes. With all of the track upgrades in the area I would not be surprised to see the retired signals that once governed movements here cut down.

No one said that tears do not escorreriam by the face, but smiling maybe you can use those tears as spiritual cleansing and let it rain. Rain until the sun reappears and overflow you from light. No one said that you would be able to see clearly everything around you, but smiling maybe you will rediscover the path after tripping a few times. Nobody said it would be easy and its not!.

Was able to get a whole seriew of images on this guy folks, but liked this one the best,

I think, will have to look again.

Thanks to all for everything.

Thanks again D.M. as always.
