From the late 1950s, Associated British Cinemas began to change the names of most of their cinemas to ABC in order to strengthen their corporate identity. New external signs incorporated the above logo. Front of house, foyer and lounge publicity display boards were also updated during this period when the old ABC triangle symbol mostly disappeared. Some cinemas displayed new boards like this one with the modern ABC logo in their foyers. This example, by Coltman's, is made of wood with the logo in relief. Rescued from the Ritz, Edinburgh, early 1980s.
