STABAT MATER
Sequenza che fa parte della messa dei Sette Dolori della Madonna (venerdì dopo la Domenica di Passione, e il 15 settembre), e fu composta come uno dei "planctus" in uso nei primi secoli dopo il Mille.
Se ne ritennero autori: Giovanni XXII, secondo un "fertur" del cronista genovese Giorgio Stella; S. Bernardo, in forza dell'attribuzione di un codice solo; S. Bonaventura, ma senza prove; Innocenzo III (così lo Chevalier e il D'Ancona, dopo il Montalembert e Benedetto XIV); Gregorio XI; persino Gregorio Magno, come asseriva Franco Sacchetti. In forza dell'attribuzione di molti codici, di testimonianze di scrittori e di analogie letterarie, se ne ritiene comunemente autore Iacopone da Todi; e andrebbe ascritto agli ultimissimi anni della sua vita, fra il 1303 e il 1306.
La poesia dello Stabat si adagia su una vecchia melodia, certamente non di origine alleluiatica secondo il più antico sistema, ma probabilmente attinta alla lauda popolare e variante ogni due strofe secondo la forma responsoriale. Il 2° modo plagale, in cui la melodia si distende, le conferisce un colore opaco ed espressivo al tempo stesso nel senso di una accorata e sommessa preghiera. A cominciare dai primi polifonisti, il testo dello Stabat fornì a più riprese materia di ispirazione ai musicisti, i quali, a seconda delle tendenze estetiche imperanti, gli dettero forma ed espressione diversa.
I più celebri Stabat sono quelli: di Josquin Després per coro a 5 voci; di Palestrina a 8 voci in due cori, notevole anche per la disposizione armonica delle parti, abbastanza rara in Palestrina e alla sua epoca; di A. Steffani per tre voci di tenore, due violini e basso continuo; di E. Astorga per coro a 4 voci con accompagnamento strumentale; di A. Scarlatti che ne compose due, uno a 4 voci e l'altro a 2 con accompagnamento strumentale; di G. B. Pergolesi a due voci e orchestra; di G. Rossini per soli, coro e orchestra; di G. Verdi per coro a 4 voci. Altri Stabat meno noti sono quelli: di G. C. Clari, A. Caldara, L. Boccherini, P. von Winter che ne compose tre, Fr. Schubert del quale se ne contano due, e di A. Dvorák.

This image is from a report in continuous evolution that I am making in the search for specific faces expressing particular feelings, scenes of environmental emphasis, expressions and deep feelings conveyed through simple look, a particular posture of the body or even from simple clothes and decorations individuals.

C'est la première réaction que j'ai eue lorsque cette énorme étoile filante (appelée « bolide ») est apparue.
Une étoile filante est une petite poussière de la taille d'un grain de sable qui entre dans l'atmosphère terrestre. Mais lorsqu'elle a un tel éclairage, c'était un grain de sable un peu plus gros qui s'était faufilé !
Je tenais à partager ce moment où j'ai pu vivre pleinement l'instant présent.
Nous avons peut-être tendance, parfois, à penser au futur, au passé mais le seul moment qui existe est l'instant présent. Et il nous fait du bien. En tout cas, il me fait du bien.

Back in 1991, this beautiful F7 could be found working weekends on a dinner train. The 106, a former Milwaukee Road unit was on one end with the matching 901 on the other. The train's journey ended in Zenda, WI on Wisconsin and Southern tracks. We chased the train in early October in 1991 on a beautiful Saturday. We got a couple of shots at Zenda while the conductor, in classic railroad uniform, stretched his legs. He's off to the right in this one.

Two Pooches are split by a F unit as they lead the Panama Ltd out of Chicago. The train is on the St Charles AirLine and about to rumble over the South Branch of the Chicago River at 16th St. It will head to the Lakefront and then turn south on the Illinois Central. You can see the connection from the AirLine to the former B&O passenger mains to the right. At this time, May of 1980, only the Soo Line used this connection, coming from Markham yard headed for North Fond du Lac, WI. Those P30's were huge, making that EMD covered wagon look like a toy. My railroad career was less than two months old when I shot this. Checking my notes on this shot, I had written "NG" next to the info, meaning the shot was no good. Kind of glad I kept it, anyway. Makes me wonder what else I threw away that I might have regretted.
This Raptor might have been spotted on this stream a bit earlier on in Ma.Ktober. A sketchy, coffee stained file led the way to this series' name. Originating from the super armored fighting suits from the Ma.K universe, here's a bit more detail and angles.
Like all Ma.K models, the dome shape, arms and legs are as true as possible to the original designs, yet this Mark X is still a fictional evolution from the existing suits (fitting my series, duh).
