Decided this would be a great place to explore, see how close to the bridge we could get. I was in awe standing under this giant structure, hope you enjoy the view too! Opinions of this one and how to improve it would be appreciated.

A night view of Barcelona. A shot made with 4 different exposures in RAW I blended together in Photoshop.
One long exposure for the moving clouds, one very short exposure for the city lights, one very long exposure for the grass in the foreground and another one for the sky.
The city is getting asleep while the clouds in movement are looking like giant sheets protecting Barcelona people.
Please see the picture in a night background in Lightbox
This was a beautiful sunset at Cabo Rojo, in the Dominican Republic. The costline here is very impressive with it's textured cliffs, white sandy beaches and turquoise water.
I've been very busy lately, caught up with some obligations, I have not been able to visit your streams. I'll try to catch up with everyone as soon, as I can.
Hope everyone is doing great. Have a fantastic week ahead!
As always, thanks for stopping by and looking. I appreciate your comments and visits.

Tenaya Lake, Yosemite National Park.
As we view all these once-in-a-lifetime shots of frozen lakes from the comfort of our rooms, it's easy to forget one thing...
Even when the sky's clear, high country winters are FREEZING.
One of my goals when creating/processing an image is to share my experiences with each of you, to be able to help you feel what I was feeling when I was shooting. I hope the intimate closeup and the glacial blue allows you to feel that freezing breeze whipping right through you, just as it did to humble me last weekend. I have used Lightroom to bring out -- not to create! -- the blue in the ice. I normally don't like to post multiple consecutive images from the same shoot, but this one's so different from the last that I thought it was appropriate.
For the record, just a week later, the Sierras are now in the middle of a huge snowstorm and the heart of the high country has returned to its all-but-inaccessible winter state. Amazing how quickly things change up there.
Have a great day!

The Sierra high country is timeless. These granite mountains, these meadows, and even this tree sentinel have been here longer than I've been alive and will be here much longer after I am gone. They stand day after day, month after month, year after year. Not waiting for anything, not expecting anything. No deadlines, no schedules, no Mondays, Wednesdays, or Saturdays.
If you spend enough time in the mountains, you begin to tap into that endless cycle. The feeling of "having to do something" slips away, along with pressures, schedules, and responsibilities. I don't know anything quite so pacifying and relieving as connecting with the stillness of the mountains.

Durbar Square is the generic name used to describe plazas opposite old royal palaces in Nepal. Before the Unification of Nepal, Nepal consisted of small kingdoms, and Durbar Squares are most prominent remnants of those old kingdoms in Nepal. In particular, three Durbar Squares in the Kathmandu Valley, belonging to the three kingdoms situated there before unification, are most famous: Kathmandu Durbar Square, Patan Durbar Square, and Bhaktapur Durbar Square. All three are UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
The Kathmandu Durbar Square is surrounded by spectacular architecture and vividly showcases the skills of the Newari artists and craftsmen over several centuries. The royal palace was originally situated at Dattaraya square and was only later moved to the Durbar square location.
The Kathmandu Durbar Square holds the palaces of the Malla and Shah kings who ruled over the city. Along with these palaces, the square also surrounds quadrangles revealing courtyards and temples. The square is presently known as Hanuman Dhoka, a name derived from the statue of Hanuman, the monkey devotee of Lord Ram, near the entrance of the palace.

Mont Blanc (French) or Monte Bianco (Italian), meaning "White Mountain", is the highest mountain in the Alps, Western Europe and the European Union. It rises 4,810.45 m (15,782 ft)[2] above sea level and is ranked 11th in the world in topographic prominence. It is also sometimes known as La Dame blanche (French for "the White Lady") or Il Bianco (Italian for "the White One").
The mountain lies between the regions of Aosta Valley, Italy, and Haute-Savoie, France and the location of the summit is on the watershed line between the valleys of Ferret and Veny in Italy and the Arve Valley in France.
The two most famous towns near Mont Blanc are Courmayeur in Aosta Valley, Italy, and Chamonix in Haute-Savoie, France—the site of the first Winter Olympics. A cable car ascends and crosses the mountain from Courmayeur to Chamonix.
Begun in 1957 and completed in 1965, the 11.6 km (7¼ mi) Mont Blanc Tunnel runs beneath the mountain between these two countries and is one of the major trans-Alpine transport routes.
The Mont Blanc massif is popular for mountaineering, hiking, skiing and snowboarding.
The summit of Mont Blanc is a thick, perennial ice and snow dome whose thickness varies, so no exact and permanent summit elevation can be determined. But accurate measurements have been made. For a long time its official elevation was 4,807 m (15,771 ft). Then in 2002, the IGN and expert surveyors, with the aid of GPS technology, measured it to be 4,810.40 m (15,782 ft 2 in).
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mont_Blanc
The Aiguille du Midi (3,842 m) is a mountain in the Mont Blanc massif in the French Alps.
The cable car to the summit, the Téléphérique de l'Aiguille du Midi, was built in 1955 and held the title of the world's highest cable car for about two decades. It still holds the record as the highest vertical ascent cable car in the world, from 1,035 m to 3,842 m. There are two sections: from Chamonix to Plan de l'Aiguille at 2,317 m and then directly, without any support pillar, to the upper station at 3,777 m (the building contains an elevator to the summit). The span of the second section is 2,867 m measured directly, but only 2,500 m measured horizontally. It thus still is the second longest span width, measured directly.

I had a whole other fence planned for today ... until I realized it was Friday the 13th!! In light of that news, I decided that a fence ---> photographed in a cemetery ---> on Halloween ---> was the more fitting fence to post!
So here it is, complete with spooky cobwebs, textures from the tombstones overlaid on the background ... and a bonus snap of a suspicious photographer character lurking in my viewfinder {image in comments}!

Happy "Friday the 13th" Fence Friday!!

This image was taken about 20 minutes after an earlier post, titled “Setting into the Mist”. Therefore, it seemed fitting to post this version as a part 2.
The mist had now completely engulfed the valley between my camera and Mt. Rainier. About 30 minutes after this image was captured you could have stood at this exact spot, and you would have seen absolutely nothing but mist.

I was really lucky again - the blue sky came out for about 20 minutes - after that it began to hail...
I'm using the Haida 1000x ND filter. I had a B+W before, but it produced a strong red color cast and it cost 90€ with 77mm thread, compared to the 35€ i paid for the Haida, which produces far better colors.

Times Square is a major commercial intersection in the borough of Manhattan in New York City, at the junction of Broadway and Seventh Avenue and stretching from West 42nd to West 47th Streets. The extended Times Square area, also called the Theatre District, consists of the blocks between Sixth and Eighth Avenues from east to west, and West 40th and West 53rd Streets from south to north, making up the western part of the commercial area of Midtown Manhattan.
Formerly named Longacre Square, Times Square was renamed in April 1904 after The New York Times moved its headquarters to the newly erected Times Building, which is now called One Times Square and is the site of the annual ball drop on New Year's Eve. Times Square, nicknamed 'The Crossroads of the World' and 'The Great White Way', has achieved the status of an iconic world landmark and is a symbol of New York City and the United States.
The northern triangle of Times Square is technically Duffy Square, dedicated in 1937 to Chaplain Francis P. Duffy of New York City's "Fighting 69th" Infantry Regiment; a memorial to Duffy is located there, along with a statue of George M. Cohan, and the TKTS discount theatre tickets booth. The stepped red roof of the TKTS booth also provides seating for various events. The Duffy Statue and the square were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2001.
Times Square has been featured countless times in literature, on television, in films – including the 1980 film Times Square, which featured a punk rock/new wave soundtrack – in music videos and recently in video games. An immediately recognizable setting, Times Square has been frequently attacked and destroyed in a number of movies, including Knowing, when a solar flare destroys New York City, Deep Impact, when a tsunami created from a meteor impact destroys New York City, Stephen King's The Stand, where the intersection is overcome by total anarchy, and Transformers; Revenge of the Fallen. Films have also employed the opposite tactic, depicting the typically bustling area as eerily still, such as in Vanilla Sky, as well as the post-apocalyptic I Am Legend, in which Will Smith and his dog go hunting for deer in the deserted urban canyon. Times Square was also depicted in the 2011 movie, New Year's Eve.

"In the shadow of the city, the light glows brightest."
I took this shot right before I left for Hawaii and I felt like taking a break from seascapes. I went for 6 shots with the camera in the portrait position. I overlap by about 1/5 of a frame when capturing the panoroma. I do this because when it comes time to stitch, I want as much source image as possible to sample from to take out those infamous trails in the water from the constant ferry, coastguard, and freighter traffic around the island. I do my stitching in Photoshop CS5 on the “reposition” setting. After the rendering is complete, I look for the seams and then I overlay the original source image on top of the panoramic image and mask in where the seams are visible. At least with lines in the water, after you get the knack of it, its quite forgiving. Sometimes the reflections can make it look like there's a seam where there isn't because of the way light hits the miniwaves and currents. The hard stuff is when you have a weird seam on hard structures such as building and bridges. The reason for this is in water or sky, often you can mask away the hard line in the seam at 100% opacity then feather it out by reducing the opacity of your brush. You can’t do that for hard objects, if you do you’ll wind up with transparent building and the like - not too pretty. I’m definitely better at the process than I was a year ago, so its all practice. Don’t forget to zoom in at 100%+ to look for the smallest seams. Panoramas can be ton’s of pixels and even the smallest seam gets big once you’ve printed it 20x60 inches!
The side-effects to using 7 shots to create the panorama is that it takes 3 min to make all the exposures and the light will change during that time unless a pure nighttime shot. To accentuate this I started on the right side where I knew it would be brightest (also where most of the ocean traffic comes from so you can stay ahead of them) and moved to the left. I did play with ISO slightly to adjust exposure as I panned left to keep the things close in terms of brightness. But I wanted it to be dark and glowy on the left. If you don’t, or have different lighting situations, pan the other way for more even light - you’ll start in the dark area when it’s brightest and move to the light area when it’s darkest. Changing the ISO only changes the noise level and not water smoothness (shutter speed) nor DoF (aperture) and with the 5D II, anything below 320 looks very very similar unless when viewed at 100+%.
Thanking you in advance for your views/comments/favs =)
