This weekend I had the pleasure of catching up with Paul C Stokes, Martin Turner and The Green Album for some photography. First off we started off shooting in Bristol but after an hour or so we made it over to Weston-Super-Mare to catch a sunset. There were some very nice looking clouds in the sky and I was really looking forward to grabbing a rare sunset picture to add to my collection; unfortunately it was low tide so there wasn’t the opportunity to get a perfect reflection of the pier but I decided to try and see what the wet sand would offer.
Many thanks very much guys for driving me around!!!
I’ve got a few more pictures to go through but after a long journey home, the travelling has finally caught up with me, so I’ll have to take a look at these later in the week.
Have a great evening all and I’ll catch up with you guys tomorrow :-)

Quick candid shot of a Venetian local enjoying his Sunday paper in a strong winter sun, with fashionably attired dogs in attendance.
Hope everyone is having a fantastic week!
Digging through my archives, I found this image. This was shot in Subic Bay, Olongapo City, Philippines and this location used to be the biggest overseas US Naval Base until its closure in 1991. There are more interesting spots to shoot in this location and I know I will be back. However, the question is when?
Have a nice Wednesday to all! :)

Here is a view of Seattle’s Public Library in downtown. Alongside the Space Needle and Pike Place Market, the downtown branch of the city’s public library system is also a well-known landmark and attraction -- both its exterior and interior -- especially for photographers! Fortunately, I had my ultra-wide angle lens to capture the entire building in this instance, taken during the city’s “Fog Affair” of late January. This was on a Saturday morning, when the city was still in slumber with very few people walking the streets of downtown.
Given the fog cover and emptiness, the downtown area actually seemed abandoned to some degree, except the occasional taxi or automobile that passed by, driving through a modern-day twilight zone and serving as a reminder of the existence of other people.

-----------------
C'mon let's do a last tour around Urla and then next time I'ìl take you to Izmir , to my home town (Smyrna-Agean sea).
That cloudy yet beautiful morning my dady had taken me to the small harbour of Urla. He knows that I love the winter sea and that small port. As we were chatting and walking around...we've met some smarties (waiting for ready food :) ) I don't really like so much cats, yet their awaiting seemed funny to me...Then dady and I have decided to behave smartly as well: we've walked near by to take a hot tea to heat us and and to play backgammon...
I saw two of these white morph Reddish Egrets while helping to lead an Audubon birding trip at Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge in Florida. The white morph is much less common than the dark morph and I was happy to see one this close. The bill turns this beautiful two-tone color during breeding season and is mostly dark the rest of the year.

One photo that has been high on my bucket list was a snowy Yosemite photo. Willie and I have been keeping an eye on the recent storms in the Eastern Sierras and a *huge* one hit over Christmas weekend, dropping over 7 feet of snow in one day in some areas! I rented a 4 wheel drive vehicle and Willie, Alan, my girlfriend and I drove into Yosemite just as the storm cleared.
We arrived at Yosemite to see the entire place covered in white! It was insanely gorgeous. The storm had moved out a bit quicker than we had hoped and we arrived late, to clear skies. As we looked west we saw another set of clouds coming in and we hoped we might be in luck! After scouting several locations we decided that Ansel Adams had it right and we found our way over to Tunnel View for sunset. We were not disappointed! Some low fog rolled into the valley, the trees stayed covered in white, and a slit of light made its way onto El Capitan for a beautiful view!
To my surprise, my favorite image from the day happened to be one I had not expected at all. An almost full-moon rose just after the sun set, right during blue hour, and everyone raced around to capture the moon rising over Half Dome. I threw on my 80-200mm lens until Alan mentioned, "hey, try going wide." By this point I was cold, tired, and ready to get home before the roads turned awful so I fired 1 quick shot, packed up my bags and went to warm up in the car. When I got home I realized how right Alan was ... I liked this shot more than all my others!
In the end we spent twice as much time driving as we did in Yosemite but it was well worth it!

Hi I'm just gonna pretend I'm American so this counts as the 2nd week and it's not Monday yet. You can perfectly see how my Sunday night looks like as I'm facetiming the awesomest girl in NY called Gina Vasquez (known as a ballerina). Sorry for the cheezy description, it's so late and I'm ready to get a 4 hour sleep night.
P.S: I have a really important exam tomorrow morning. Yay me and my responsabilty.
Love always, Laura

Part of the Orion Molecular Cloud, an immense star forming region very close to earth, The Flame and Horsehead Nebulas offer a glimpse into the process from which stars and their planets are created. The colorfully lit areas are being irradiated by the young stars which have formed in the recent past and as a result, the ionized hydrogen in the clouds glows. The dark regions, on the other hand, are areas of dusty material in the interstellar medium dense enough to obscure the glow from behind. The Horsehead is such an object and from our vantage point on Earth, it bears a striking resemblance to the head of a horse.
The bright blue star just above The Flame Nebula is the easternmost star in Orion's belt, Alnitak, also known as Zeta Orionis. It is a "blue super-giant" and the brightest such star in the night sky.
Although it appears as a single object it is actually a triple-star (three stars in orbit around each other).
Zeta Orionis is responsible for the glow of the Flame Nebula; it glows so intensely in the ultra-violet range that even at a distance of a hundred light-years, the hydrogen in the cloud becomes ionized like neon in a sign. This radiation is also speeding the development of new stars as the pressure from the radiation further compresses the material. When the density of the material becomes great enough, gravity takes over and collapses the gas into a single object where temperature and pressure increase so dramatically that hydrogen atoms are fused into helium and a new star is born.

From my sons I've got a GPS tagger as Christmas present. Since 2 years I wanted to buy one but I never knew which one I should take. Therefore I'm really happy about this gift!
These days I have tested the tagger and have tried it first in my neighborhood in the late afternoon. The tagger works very well and is easy to handle.
I've taken the shot above during this test walk ... nothing spectacular but I like it somehow and on the left you can see my beloved walnut tree.

After I got off of work yesterday I quickly made my way out to the coast to try to catch what seemed to be shaping up to be a really killer sunset. I had plans to get farther south than this spot (San Gregorio), but there road to the coast is one lane in each direction...and I got stuck behind a big slow truck. Once I hit the coast road, I tried to hurry to get as far south as I could, but by the time I hit San Gregorio I could see the sun was quickly taking a nosedive over the horizon. Not a problem - San Gregorio State Beach is a great spot in its own right. Due to storms and unusually high tides a few weeks ago, there was A TON of wood debris on the beach. In fact, getting to the beach itself meant climbing over much of this debris.
It wasn't a super colorful sunset, but I loved the way the thick clouds broke in spots to allow rays of golden light to shine through. And the ocean looked a bit angry, so I quickly ditched the idea of taking HDR shots and instead set out to capture the drama shaping up in the sky and the ocean.
I'd like to thank the flock of seagulls for being in the perfect spot to be included in the photograph. How considerate!

It took about twenty minutes in the middle of the night to set up in the middle of a wintery pool, wellies full of water by the end of it. Five minutes later my flash, which I'd brought out solely to test, stopped working... If anyone knows about fixing Metz flashes, please message me! It still makes noises, and the button glows, it just doesn't flash. In this case "two out of three ain't bad" ceases to apply.
Anyway, having set up I figured I'd just trying gelling my flashlight/torch instead, and ended up with a shot I'm happy with and some neat lessons around lighting a scene.
Lighting is from a Lenser MT7 flashlight - first with a turquoise gel beneath the water (in a zip lock freezer bag), then with an amber gel aimed along the wall from the right, and vertically down on the scene from the top of the wall. I've included a flat white lit shot of the scene in the comments so you can see how it transformed things - without the lighting, this was pitch black bar a tiny sliver of moonlight on grey rock and brown water.
More to follow from the location in future. Hope every one is having an amazing Christmas/holiday run.

Extensão: 13,29 km (8,26 mi);
Atualmente é considerada a maior ponte, em concreto protendido, do hemisfério sul e atualmente é a sexta maior ponte do mundo.

Architect: Aron Johansson
Built in: 1897-1905
Client: Sveriges Riksbank and Riksdagen
The Parliament House, Riksdagshuset, is the seat of The Parliament of Sweden and located on Helgeandsholmen in central Stockholm.
The building was designed by Architect Aron Johansson and built between 1897 and 1905. When it was opened it replaced the old Parliament House on Riddarholmen. The building was originally constructed to house both The Parliament and The Swedish National Bank.
In 1971 it was decided that the bank part of the building was to be rebuilt into a new assembly hall for The Parliament. An architectural competition was won by the architectural firm Ahlgren-Olsson-Silow Arkitekter AB. The largest outwardly visible change was the copper-clad body of the old National Bank with the new chamber. The rebuilt building was inaugurated in October 1983.

Excelente equilibrio compositivo.
