Well it's actually Nineveh, but Nineveh trestle is cool when there's not 4 drones buzzing over your head. With 2 TFT trains going on at the same time in the northeast, it was nice to have not so many people out on the D&H.

Southern Pacific 975 built in 1918 by the American Locomotive Company is over 94 feet long and weighs 397,500 pounds. It is a working steam locomotive at the Illinois Railway Museum in Union, IL USA.
An xtra train of Herzog hoppers symboled 975 crosses the Portage Bridge in Letchworth State Park, led by a SD70ACe. The river was running a little high from recent rain, causing the mist from the waterfalls to rise up all the way to the top of the bridge.

The NS Toys for Tots train rolls south on the former D&H on its way to Binghamton. This is a jointly operated effort from Amtrak and NS for Capital Region Toys for Tots. The milepost 507 here is measured from Mattawamkeag, ME. When Guilford got this line, they changed the mileposts to match the existing mileage of their system, and this milepost changing went all the way to like Sunbury, PA or somewhere around there

As recorded by someone who had previously stayed at North View and had left record in the Guest Journal. I started counting, but lost count. Near as I can tell, he was correct. The next day I brought my bike, dropped everyone off at the drop off, drove back, parked and biked myself down to the beach. Much easier and the bike hike up the hill at the end of the day was easier than I had thought it would be.

Norfolk Southern 975 takes off southbound out of Cobleskill on a sunny but frigid mid-December morning in 2024. Leading the way down to Binghamton was NS 6920, an EMD SD60E painted up to honor veterans.

Sometimes even in the seemingly always connected railfan world of today, blind luck still wins out. I was headed home from a good weekend on the KCS, when I spied the Safety Train in the NS Meridian Yard from the interstate. After a short wait, they got a warrant to head south down the NO&NE in dead-perfect afternoon sun. Having no idea that it was town beforehand, this was a real nice way to finish up a great weekend trip to the Magnolia State.
Also, surprisingly there were no other fans out chasing. For once, it was nice to run into something unique and not have to worry about crowds being at every crossing.
