Interurban car #97 sits quietly on a siding track at the Bladen Street yards of the Baltimore & Annapolis Railroad during WWll. 97 and the car behind it, #93, were both built by Wason in late 1913 and delivered to the Annapolis Short Line Railroad in January 1914. Originally built as center-entrance cars, the Wason cars were rebuilt after the March 1921 merger with the WB&A into conventional entrance cars with the doors relocated to the car ends and a baggage door added. In 1929 the Wasons received Tomlinson Tightlock Couplers. After the August 20, 1935 abandonment of the WB&A, the original bondholders of the Annapolis Short Line reclaimed what was then known as the WB&A North Shore Division and reorganized it as the Baltimore & Annapolis Railroad with operations commencing in September 1935 between the two namesake cities. The B&A acquired all of the WB&A's Wason cars and thus they continued serving the two cities for another 14 and a half years before succumbing to buses on February 4, 1950. Throughout their time on the B&A, the Wason cars received window modifications which replaced the original arch windows with standard squared-off windows-a classic example of railroad economics vs aesthetics. By the end of operations, all of the Wasons had been modified as can be seen later in a 1949 photograph of the 97 at Bladen Street station with squared windshields like the 93 in this picture. The St Rombouts Cathedral in Mechelen is the main church of the Archdiocese of Mechelen-Brussels and, as the seat of the Metropolitan of the Belgian Church Province, it is the metropolitan church of Belgium. The cathedral is especially famous for its tower, which is over 97 metres high. The cathedral is dedicated to the Irish missionary Saint Rombout or Rumoldus. The building is a three-aisled cruciform church whose construction started in the 13th century. At that time, the transept, the nave and three bays of the choir were built. The church was consecrated in 1312.
The parts of the church that were built from the 14th century onwards are considered the earliest example of Brabant Gothic.

ATSF 97 is part of the collection of the Museum of the American Railroad in Frisco, Texas. It is a EMD FP45 built in December 1967 and was previously numbered ATSF 107. It has also seen service as ATSF 5997 and 5947.

Ray, Lola and I were out for brunch over the weekend and I just happened to notice that Ray was wearing a red t-shirt and watch! This is just one of the may watches in his vast collection. What can I say I love shoes and he loves watches!
Zur Verbesserung meiner Kreativität werde ich in diesem Projekt ein Jahr lang jeden Tag ein schwarz/weiß-Foto schießen ... und zwar mit dem iPhone. Die Fotos werden nur direkt auf dem iPhone bearbeitet und direkt vom iPhone zu flickr hochgeladen. Der Schwerpunkt liegt also auf Bildkomposition, Perspektive und Bildausschnitt und nicht auf Nachbearbeitungstechniken.

To improve my creativity I shoot one black & white photo every day ... with my iPhone. The photos will only be processed directly on the iPhone and will directly be uploaded to flickr from the iPhone. Thus, the main thing is about composition and perspective and not about digital postprocessing.
