Long time no see....I just celebrated my 80th birthday on the 7th March and can say with a degree of certainty that my eyes aren't what they used to be, my vitality has slowed down some, and I, now require a bit more rest. But i can also state that my passion and love for photography has only escalated/elevated a hundred-fold and I plan on making photos and sharing them on flickr until the good Lord says I have had enough. In the meantime please be patient with an old man who enjoys sharing in my flickr friends and contacts beautiful works. I always look forward to visiting your exemplary and inspirational art, and will continue to do so....I treasure your friendship and your most welcome visits and warm, kind and encouraging comments! Thank you gazillions!!

Sometimes you don't get traditional aurora shows, you get glowing beams across the sky which sit there for hours. This was one such night. They would have been very difficult to see on any other night, but this night it was around new moon, meaning zero moonlight whatsoever and very, very dark skies. As such the colours have not been messed with at all on this photo, it's as it was SOOC.

It is 9:01 a.m. at the station in Sargans in eastern Switzerland. SBB intercity train 913 is entering track 3 right on time – dare I say "like a Swiss watch"?
Intercity 913 is part of a service that connects Zurich with Chur every 30 minutes from early morning until late evening. Meanwhile, on track 2 at far left, a green signal is displayed for the return service from Chur to Zurich. Swiss railways operate left-handed.
With a storm brewing over the Slovak capital, ZSSK unit 913 013 scuttles through the fields between Podunajske Biskupice and Rovinka with a Bratislava to Dunajska Streda service - 23/06/2023. This route is a fairly rural part of the Slovak rail network but has an impressive number of passenger workings in each direction throughout the day. Even more impressive is the variety of traction (at least at the moment it seems), in the last few days I have observed passenger services with this unit, the more modern 840 Delfin units as well as coaching stock hauled by 754 Brejlovec locos and a 736 Somár shunter and (most common of all) City Shuttle units push/pulled by OBB ER20 "Hercules" locos.
In the far distance behind the unit can be seen the 196-metre Kamzik TV Tower standing on the Little Carpathians mountain range overlooking Bratislava.
