We are still on the discovery of this holiday: The classic car specialist cluster near our holiday home. Two Tatra's were what stood out the most in this area that doesn't really scream high-end classic...
An F-16C Fighting Falcon, marked for the 93d Fighter Squadron but operated by the 457th Fighter Squadron, returns to Carswell with an inert laser-guided bomb.

I absolutely love this city when the sun's out. And I absolutely love being able to leave work at a reasonable hour so i can go and enjoy the sunset, and a pint, down on the beach. The beach was rammed with hundreds of people smiling, drinking, chatting, laughing, having barbecues, and just generally enjoying the weather.
The BTII-87 is a long range bomber and fighter interceptor. With new engine technologies it has a very large range for a single pilot ship.
With wings in attack position, the BTII-87's main guns have quite a punch. And it carries four of the highest force missiles that the Blacktron forces have.

An updated canopy for this build as well. The right color really makes this build feel at home in the Blacktron family. I always wished those wings on the original set would fold...
Een bijzonder ontwerp, deze Tsjechische Tatra 87. Niet alleen vallen de drie grote koplampen op (alleen niet hier op deze foto), ook de aërodynamische 'vin van een vis' achterop is opmerkelijk te noemen. Dit laatste is een uitvinding van de Oostenrijker Hans Ledwinka, die in 1921 begon als technisch directeur bij zijn Tsjechische werkgever. Ook opmerkelijk: Ledwinka en Ferdinand Porsche waren goede collega's. Daardoor vermoedde Tatra dat Porsche zijn ontwerp van de Volkswagen Kever van hen heeft gekopieerd. Na een rechtszaak en na de oorlog gaf Volkswagen het toe dat de Kever invloeden van de Tatra had.
Dan nog wat feitjes over de 87: onder de kap lag een heuse V8-motor, wel met maar 85 pk. Tussen 1937 en 1950 (met een productiestop tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog) werden er 1752 geproduceerd. In Nederland werden er twaalf verkocht, waarvan er nu naar verluidt nog twee van over zijn. Eentje heeft een mooi plekje in het Louwman Museum.

A special design, this Czech Tatra 87. Not only do the three large headlights stand out (only not in this picture), but also the aerodynamic 'fin of a fish' on the back is remarkable. This last thing is an invention by the Austrian Hans Ledwinka, who started in 1921 as technical director at his Czech employer. Also remarkable: Ledwinka and Ferdinand Porsche were good colleagues. Thereby Tatra suspected that Porsche copied his design of the Volkswagen Beetle from them. After a lawsuit and after the war, Volkswagen admitted that the Beetle had influences from the Tatra.
Then some other facts about the 87: under the hood was a real V8 engine, but with only 85 hp. Between 1937 and 1950 (with a production stop during the Second World War) 1752 were produced. Twelve were sold in the Netherlands, of which there are now reportedly two left. One has a nice spot in the Louwman Museum.

In de haven van Burgas rangeert PortRail en nadat alle treinen binnen waren werd meteen gestart met het rangeerwerk en kwamen er twee verschillende locs een paar keer de haven uit piepen om daarna meteen weer geduwd terug te rijden. Ondanks de moeilijke zonstand voor deze bewegingen werd wel een poging gedaan er eentje vast te leggen.
