Playing catch up.

Old. But accurate.

The pictures from this weekend will be up eventually.

Can't you see He made you? Can't you see how He loves you? You're so blind. I love you so. I try my hardest, but I can't love you like He can. How can you turn from Him? You know, you know who He is. You know what He's done for you. You know.

Day 74/365/2014 (Saturday, 15th of March)

Birthday Cupcakes!

From my lovely co-worker :-)

13 November 2013

-Today I had two classes in a row with the second-years. They are by far the most exhausting class.

-First, we had science, and I taught them more about the difference between weight and gravity.

-Then, we had English, which consisted of listening to Roar by Katy Perry over and over. This wasn't my idea. We had to talk about the lyrics, and I explained the meaning of them while thinking far more deeply than I'd ever wish to think about a pop song. We split the class in half and the two halves competed singing the song.

-That stupid song was stuck in my head all day after listening to it 10+ times, and at the end of class, the students were like "Next time, let's do a Beatles song!" The teacher and I basically facepalmed because he'd only picked Roar because he thought the kids would like it. DEEP BREATHS.

-After breakfast and a planning period with Consuelo, I had a planning period with Emma that turned into a cool conversation. It involved the differences in how Spanish is taught vs. how English is taught, and got me on one of those tangents of thought about how LANGUAGE SHAPES OUR PERCEPTION OF THE WORLD, so that was cool!

-I went home, and found that my mom had sent me a letter. She also sent me leaves from Pennsylvania, pristinely laminated! How lovely. A large portion of her letter consisted of song recommendations, and so I've been incorporating Dan Fogelberg into my listening habits more since then. ("Ghosts" is such a baller beautiful song).

-Went to my private lesson... AND IT WAS RAINING. Today was the first day that it's rained in El Ejido since I've been here!

-After my lesson, I went home and immediately went to Cafeteria Alhambra. Met up with Olivia, Monica, Charlie and Noelia for coffee (and tea for me, sick girl).

-Olivia, Monica, and I planned our trip for the "puente," which is a long weekend in December. We're going to Salamanca and Zamora with a bunch of Monica's friends, and we just needed to work out our hostel accommodations! I'm excited for the trip.

-Went home, worked on my painting, ate dinner, went to bed.

Day 74

We drove to Bribie Island this afternoon to stay the night with Shalene's mum, Rita. Man, the traffic was heavy. We had thought that leaving at 1:00 PM would see us miss the worst of it but no luck there.

After dropping in and saying hello we headed straight to the beach. I had packed my sandcastle building equipment—a Christmas present from two Christmases ago—and it was great fun. We constructed quite a fine erection for the edification of other beachgoers.

When we got back to Rita's place I was exhausted. I think I fell asleep on the couch, woke up for dinner, and then retired for the night at 7:30 PM! I slept for about 13 hours. I guess I must have needed it.
