This special harmonica had it's own case and was
used on two tracks. It was modelled after old harmonicas
from way back. The "horns" were to amplify the sound
and each horn was for two holes on the harp.
Looked like a christmas door knocker.

This is my "go-to" guitar. It's the one I reach for first, the one I play something like 90 percent of the time.
For the other guitar players, it's a Carvin Cobalt.

The black and white are significant....the pretty white one was smooth and mellow and it's the one he played most of the concert, but for the encore, when he wanted to kick up the attitude real phat, mean and nasty....well, the black one did the job of getting the audience on their feet and crowding the stage to be as close as possible to the music.

(L) Bone 6-sting custom fretless. Dual coil Bartolinis with active/passive switch. The initial idea behind the construction of this bass was to create the ultimate fretless EB Musicman. The "mwah" on the fretless is amazing!
(R) MTD 635. Serial # 885. First ash neck MTD by Michael Tobias. Myrtle Burl top, Ash body, Maple fingerboard.
Fender Stratocaster "Rory Gallagher" Replica. Yes, the tiger stripe on the back of the neck is wrong but this has since been changed. Photo taken 2.9.2010.
Seems like the INK is adorned with on his arms is a work in progress.

Got to stop by Gallery X in New Bedford to check out my friend's band, Pumpkin Head Ted. They were playing at the annual Gallery X "Public Xhibition".
This afternoon I went downtown in an attempt to take pictures of some subway stations on the Yonge line, south of Bloor. I figured that most of those stations wouldn't have above-ground entry buildings like they do on the Bloor line...but half of today's station entrances didn't even have signs on them to indicate which stations they were leading to. As someone who lives in the GTA and knows the system, I knew what stations they were...but for a tourist or a newcomer, I think that's a problem that needs to be fixed.

I took this picture a few nights ago. I don't have much to say about it, but I like it!

a teaser for my video "Yannis Loulourgas: Introducing the Gagava (H Γκαγκαβα) - a new musical instrument".
To see the full video, please visit
Yannis Loulourgas, a luthier, musician and teacher of traditional greek music has developed a new type of musical instrument with an "ancient sound".
With regards to the shape of the instruments body he calls his unique design the "Gagava". The Gagava was a type of fishing boat used for fishing corals and sponges then, but isn't any longer in use today.
The musical instrument "Gagava" (H Γκαγκαβα) is available today as 6-string or 8-string instrument and in different size variations and design modifications. With its flat vibrating back the instrument has quite a long sustain and the sound is different from the sound of the bouzouki or the lute/oud.

Now, at this stage the guitar is really starting to open up. You test this as you go, from the top with bracing, to when the bracing is down and all throug the build. The trick is to remove enough material so that the soundboard resonates and gives a nice tone when you tap it with flesh of forefinger sharply. The tone should be almost bell like - it should sustain. This was quite tight and not giving a good "bong" until today. amazing. Stewart's monster Jumbo was giving great tone almost straight away - so much wood there to resonate - mine is much tighter due to its size.
So cute. Here's the body more or less done. Binding is planed, scraped and whole body sanded back, first with 150, then 280, then 320 grit paper. Important to keep flat whether plane or sanding block or orbital sander - keep base of sander flat toward centre of body. follow grain.
Illustrated man. spiritual ink.
Sound check on the 12 string.

My new Jay Turser 335 copy. I've wanted a 335 since I saw Back to the Future while I was at college. The originals where/are expensive and the copies back then usually had bolt-on necks and I wanted a set-neck like the original. The Chinese are currently taking up where the Japanese left off making copies back in the 80's. For the little money I paid this is a remarkable guitar that makes all the right sounds.
