UP's 6 AM job shoves back towards Elk Grove to finish up for the day after switching their customers.
This image has to be my favorite from the Atlanta meetup! Joel Robison, whom I am now proud to call my friend, was kind enough to model for me, and I'm very pleased with the results!
The title is in reference to a phenomenon that, I believe, has a lot to do with inspiration and with photography. "Earthshine" is the light that the earth reflects back upon the moon, just as the moon washes our planet with its own light, reflected from the sun. Just like this stellar process, inspiration goes two ways. Choose to be an inspiration.

實際將TG-6運用在生態微距上, 會發現這台機器非常的簡單好用, 不像在水中多了潛水殼的隔閡, 在陸地上使用時, 能貼多近就能拍多近, 貼得越近當然放大倍率就越高, 通常在微距中高放大倍率的狀態下, 景深都會非常淺, 常常會淺到無法容納主體的雙眼, 所以都需要盡可能的縮小光圈來增加景深範圍, 然而這樣一來, 便加重了閃燈的負擔, 也可能犧牲掉快門速度, 甚至需要開高iso犧牲畫質來加持進光量, 這通常也是正微距攝影中的兩難, 景深與畫質不可兼得...🤔

但是在TG-6上面, 這個問題卻又因為小片幅的優勢而變得不明顯, 在相同構圖下小片幅的景深相對較深, 所以變成不需要大縮光圈, 就可以獲得相對更深的景深, 其次TG-6甚至還搭載了只有旗艦機E-M1系列才有的景深合成功能, 此外在超微距的狀態下他還可以將光圈縮到18來拍, 綜合這三個特點, TG-6無疑是目前Olympus所有相機中, 可拍出最深景深的一台相機.😱

27.6.89. 146 awaits departure for Rosslare, even though it faces towards Cork. This train had arrived from Limerick into a stub platform at the far end of the station. It then reversed out, moved forward round the back of the station on the left, through a pedestrian level crossing, into a head-shunt, then reversed into this platform. To leave, it would pull forward into the head-shunt, then reverse back through the level crossing behind the station to the left, out onto the Limerick line, then head off to Rosslare across the main line at right-angles in the far distance. (It really was as complex as this. I hope I've got this right - memory isn't what it used to be).
This loco is now preserved by the irish Traction Group.

Not what I was expecting to see on the way home, but then you never expect to see a cream coloured 6 wheeled 2CV do you?
Having the weight of an extra axle (well, swing arms I guess) and 2 wheels, plus the extra drag it must stress the already low powered air cooled engine of the 2CV. It develops 29 bhp.

Theme: TRIANGLES
Sad story about this one. I set this up on my bed because the subtle lighting from the window seems to be the best for stuff like this. As I was finishing up, I thought I would try a macro looking down in the glass. I got too close and it tipped over, hitting the floor shattering into hundreds of pieces. I was shocked that it broke so easily, since it landed on padded carpeting. Getting explored takes away some of the sting.

the lantern seems to be amazed by Atlantis's beauty, I do not blame him. The first time I saw the city was, was a magical moment. It is the most magical thing I've ever seen. The lights, the people, the atmosphere, it can never be replicated. Once at the city gates we both stop. They are torn open, leaving the city wide open. We enter swiftly, seeing broken weapons and… dead guards.
Arthur - I…
The lantern places his hand on my shoulder.
John - We'll take him down. I promise.
I nod and begin to head forward. We swim through the wreckage and make our way to the palace. The doors are open, but an army of guards stand tall. Once they see us, the open their formation, letting us in. Inside we see Orm, Mera, and Murk.
Mera - Arthur, you are back.
Murk - My king, there was a man with a prototype whip. He obliterated the guards. Is this the Lantern.
Arthur - Yes, this is John. John meet Murk, Orm, and my wife Mera. This is all caused by an alien parasite who took over an Atlantean. He used the Manhunters as his army.
Orm - So what do you propose we do? He is currently in the science center. He locked it down like his personal fortress.
John - Then we need to siege it. He may be powerful, but me and Aquaman can handle him.
Orm - Aqua...man?
Murk - It is his superhero name to the surface world.
Orm looks down shaking his head. I give a look to Mera who looks scared, she has every right to be. This is the 4th attack on Atlantis within months. Maybe it is me. Maybe I am not fit for king.
John - Arthur, we need to get a move on to the science center. We need to stop him before he destroys Coast City.
Orm - Destroys Coast City? Is this the Manhunters you spoke of?
John - Yeah, Fisherman had an insanely high iq, he hacked all of them from the prison he was in.
Orm - Interesting, you will need to be very cautious then, for he could turn the Science Center into a living deathmaze.
Arthur - Right then, let us go.
John turns and begins to head out. Mera places her hand on my shoulder, giving me a smile.
Mera - Be careful Arthur, this kingdom needs you.
I nod before I head out. We begin to make our way to the science center, where we see weapons mounted and armed. I look at the lantern, who blasts the turrets that are in front of the entrance, allowing us in. We step inside, seeing an array of destroyed equipment. To our relief, in front of us we see him, no death maze, no traps. Just us versus him.
He moves his hand downwards, extending the whip in his hand. I raise my trident and the lantern lights up his fist. We stare at him for a few seconds before he begins to run at us. Flailing his whip, he wraps it around my trident, and begins sending electricity through my body. He yanked the whip, pulling the trident from my hands. The lantern sends a blast of energy out, but the Fisherman raises my trident, absorbing the energy. Using my water hand, I create a sword and begin to slash away at our enemy, but he continues using my trident as a defensive tool. When I leave my side open, he uses the whip to strike, sending me flying into the wall. He then slams the whip down onto the Lantern's shoulder, taking him down from the air.
Arthur - We can't hit him, my water hand can't get past the trident.
John - Can't you just call it back to you?
I shake my head as I stand up. I look in front of me to see the Fisherman spinning his whip, slashing the ground as he does. He drags the trident on the floor leaving scratch marks as he does.
Right as he makes it to me, he performs an overhead swing with the trident. Lantern is able to form a barrier over me, sparing me from the strike. Fisherman quickly launches the whip towards him but using my water hand, I create a hook that cuts his hand off.
Fisherman - AGHGHHHGHGHH!
With this opening, Green Lantern creates a hammer that slams onto his body, causing him to drop the trident. I roll out if cover, retrieving my weapon and stand next to my ally.
The Fisherman raises up from the ground, grabbing the whip with his remaining hand. He sends the whip out once more but this time I catch it with my water hand. He begins to pulse electricity but it doesn't ever connect to me. I pull, bringing him towards us, allowing us both to hit him with an uppercut simultaneously. His body flies backwards, into the wall, he is finally beaten.

貼近拍攝的能力, 在生態攝影上可以說是非常重要, 因為如果幾乎沒有對焦距離的限制, 那就可以隨心所欲的構圖, 其實, 生態微距不一定需要將生物全身都拍進畫面, 只要能帶到生物的特徵, 基本上就足以辨別這是何種生物, 比方說, 拍攝一隻剛羽化的薄翅蟬的時候, 也可以乾脆不拍身體, 只取臉部的特徵來拍出比較有趣味性的構圖.😘

薄翅蟬的兩隻大眼睛是複眼, 但他額頭上其實還有幾隻單眼, 用以彌補複眼的不足, 如果利用微距放大能力近距離觀察, 會發現這些單眼的顏色和形狀, 其實很像鑽石或紅寶石, 非常漂亮.😮

This was my view waking up this morning, as my sister and I slept the night on the hospital floor next to my Mum who is under palliative care.
In tough times the kindness of someone can mean so much - we have been blessed with incredibly kind and caring people in the hospital where mum is.
Mum is the patient - but they have been caring for the whole family. And they were very helpful in letting my sister and I sleep at mum’s side during the night.
My sister and I were saying we haven’t had a night sleeping in a room with my mother for 40 years - and it was incredibly comforting to us both to talk as we lay listening to Mum.
It is a strange time full of emotion and practical concerns - and just making sure Mum is as comfortable as she can be.
This evening I’ve been sitting next to Mum reading out to her some Flickr comments and describing some of the photos I wish she could see.
Tonight my sister and I will sleep together by her side. And we’ll see what tomorrow brings.
