Looks like there is slim chance of Aurora to be seen in the Bay Area on New Year eve. Perhaps this rainbow I saw this morning could be the precursor. Who knows? Anyway, Happy New Year!

This is week six under the theme “Street” for the #letsgetcreative2014 project.
Since I just got my 1st flash on Friday I thought about using it directly for this weeks shot. It turned out that I’m a total newbie in terms of “artificial” lighting, but you have to start somewhere, right? The light on my face could have been a lot softer, but my gear was limited to the flash and a little diffuser cap, I’ll consider buying a soft box or something similar for future shots. But nonetheless, I learned a lot, and that’s what these projects are made for.
Last but not least I really have to thank my wonderful girlfriend for bearing with me in the cold wind holding the flash higher and longer than she actually could, thank you very much darling!
For the next theme “Monsters” I really have to boost my creativity, wish me luck ;) Have a great week everybody!

One year ago i completely falled in love with square 6x6 pictures. Of course Hasselblad become my dream after this. It was exactly 31.12.2008. Spring presented me Lubitel 166B, Summer - Kiev-6C. And now dream changed shape and come true after all - Rolleiflex 6001. That was quite a year - i stopped shoot digital portraits completely. Hell, i stop shoot anything with my digital Olympus besides weddings and all commercial stuff. Totally lost, becouse of you, my fellow friends with great 6x6 works.

Standing in the dark, dank, dirty and destitute basement of the two story house my mother and I lived in. I am scouting around for a good place to pose in an amateur photo shoot with Laura my girlfriend crush.
If you look closely at the collar of the green, wool army jacket I am wearing you can see a dark red mark or blotch. That is a blood stain from facial wounds I sustained in a car accident earlier that year.
