The Pleiades, also known as The Seven Sisters, Messier 45, and other names by different cultures, is an asterism and an open star cluster containing middle-aged, hot B-type stars in the north-west of the constellation Taurus. 4 x 30 sec exp stacked in Sequator.
A view of Edinburgh Castle from Castle Street. I once worked at a Starbucks at the top of this street (a job I hated but it was necessary) and more than one tourist walked into the store to ask where they could find the Castle.

I am still a bit in shock at what we were able to witness. My friend and I went on a spur the moment trip to Big Island of Hawaii to document a bit of the Kilauea Volcano action going on right now. The first day, June 16, 2018, we chartered a helicopter with Paradise Helicopters and the second day we did the Lava Boat Tour. It was an incredible experience, to say the least, but also very eye-opening and pretty sad. Seeing the area where over 400 (over 600 now I believe) homes were taken out was pretty crazy. Seeing how fast the lava was flowing out the fissure 8 was even crazier, as seen in this collection. But seeing Kapoho Bay completely filled within days and Leilani Estates practically gone, was definitely the most shocking part. I guess we have to still remember these islands were formed by lava to begin with.
“Since May 3, 2018, Kilauea has erupted more than 110 million cubic meters of lava. This fissure has produced a lava fountain pulsing to heights of 185 to 200 feet (55 to 60 meters).”
These shots was taken on June 16 & 17, 2018.
Maybe not that common in N.America (code 4), but this is a species I've seen almost everywhere near feeders from Mexico all the way to Ecuador. And they are not shy neither.
Captured using my Canon 5dsR with 300mm standing close near a feeder.(Natural light and BG.)

To begin this series, a brief explainer: last year my parents moved from North Carolina (where I grew up) to Ohio, so I was due a visit. Meanwhile, Scottish friends were touring the USA: we agreed to meet in Chicago for a few days before onward travel. They carried on and I hopped off the 5am train in Cleveland.
Future visits to my family in America will now involve landing in interesting and new (to me) cities across the north, so that's exciting. Toronto and Detroit are obvious choices but I intend to widen the pool the more I visit.
I didn't expect to be so enamoured with Chicago. I think it's now my second favourite American city - the people are lovely, the city is absurdly clean for its size, and the public realm is inviting and feels safe. While I do wish to travel to other, closer cities in future visits, I do want to and do plan to go back again. That's unusual for me but clearly an indication of just how smitten I was with this city.
Two minute long exposures, two frames stitched together for a panoramic, then heavily cropped to 21:9.

Trip to Namibia was a dream for me. May be because this was the first time I was visiting such landscape. Pure untouched nature. Indeed there are lots of tourists there now a days. But it is possible to be a bit creative and stay away from the tourist packs. You just have to choose a less famous location or go there at odd time. It requires a bit of planning, but still possible. I did manage to spot some such locations and enjoyed the nature at its best.
Here is one such place near a lonely sand dune. A lonely tree at the last ray of the sun. Typical sun down scene of Namibia.
Please have a look at my website www.avisekhphotography.com for all my recent works.
Have a nice weekend.
Hope you will enjoy the picture.
Any suggestions or criticisms are always welcome.
We had just checked into our lodge, and I had unpacked and put everything away, then stepped out with my 5DSR with just the pancake 40mm f/2.8 lens on it for any casual photo ops. Little did I know I'd step out of my tent and walk into a spectacular sunset, with the sun looking like a huge orange ball on the horizon.
I quickly took one shot with the 40mm, then ran into my tent, put back on the 200-400 with the internal 1.4x + an external 1.4x, for an ~800mm set up, attached it to my tripod and ran out, only to see the sun was mostly set, already. Unfortunately, we never got another clear sunset for the rest of our stay.
I was hoping to get some shots of some elephants or giraffes silhouetted against a huge orange ball in the background, but I guess those shots will have to wait until my next trip to Africa!

A quick walk around the corner from the last shot. This is the Edinburgh Futures Institute, an old hospital restored to former glory for use in academia. Part of the Quartermile development by Foster + Partners has finally come to completion, long a construction site since before our time here (2010) it's good to have an area of the city redeveloped and new life breathed into it. Even if it really only benefits the wealthy, it's a nice bit of architecture.
